He'd be a solid candidate to replace Farrior.

Steelers had a scout down in Baylor checking out MLB Joe Pawelek.

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and "esprit de corps" of the Ranger Regiment. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move farther, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be. One hundred percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, my neatness of dress and care for equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission, though I be the lone survivor.

CB Joe Burnett is on the bubble to make the team. He hasn't shown anything as a returner, but did block a punt the other day against BUF. His play is solid but they may try to sneak him onto the PS. If that happens he may get snatched by another team. A good problem to have I guess.

Big Steeler win! Wasn't pretty and the run game sucked. Lots of work to do and Polamalu could be out 6 weeks.
I love the Steeler D...but not without Polamalu, especially since your secondary really has no other play makers. If not for a couple of missed/blocked FGs, you lost this game in regulation. Any more injuries and the D could be in big trouble. The big problem is you have absolutely no running game...period...and your short yardage running game is pitiful, to say the least. Unless the injury bug kills you, your schedule should put you back in the playoffs. However, against teams with good passing attacks, even with Polamalu, you could be in trouble...not to mention teams who can rush the passer, because your Oline is worse than atrocious. I see in a previous post you spoke about how good this draft class looked...all I can say is it better, because the last draft looks mediocre to say the least, and Mendenhall looks more and more like a bust...Snead isn't far behind...and you might just be seeing Dixon with the way your Oline is playing...see you on October 4th

Tough loss, but those things are going to happen in a 16 game schedule. 2 missed FGs left the door open for Chi. and they got it done. Running game looked a little better. Still a lot of work in process.

Looking like a sinking ship at this point. Pissed away 2 games they should have won. They were in control and fell apart in the 4th. SD is coming to town and they are not an easy out even with their injury situation.

I think I'm more worried than you...at least you're at home, although that did us a lot of good against the Raven...of course some terrible play calling, or very questionable at the least at the end of that game really disappointed me. The one good and smart thing I think the Chargers did was keep LT out of the Miami game giving him an extra week of rest on his sprained ankle, and I understand he'll be 100% for this game...if that's true, perhaps the Chargers will be able to finally achieve a more balanced offense, which they'll need to keep your defense off balance to have any chance...but who knows...it could be a shoot-out too. Hopefully both teams play hard and put on a good show with no injuries. Good luck.

DE Aaron Smith, one of the finest 3-4 DEs in the game is gone for the season. Torn rotator cuff. We lost him 2 years ago at the end of the season for 3 or 4 games and teams gashed the Steelers with the run. Let's see how the run D holds up.

That's a real tough loss for you guys. It's hard to replace someone like that...just ask the Chargers who still haven't found anyone to replace Williams, and now are totally vulnerable to the run. I think teams will now start passing much more effectively against you, which could definitely hurt your division chances, since both the Bengals, with Palmer working his way back, and Baltimore with Flacco have developed passing games again. It will be your offense that will probably have to carry you this year, and I wouldn't get too high about Mendenhall, as the Chargers front seven make every running back look like Jim Brown right now. Unless you play someone even more inept against the run, I think that was Mendenhall's career game. You need Parker back ASAP, and he needs to stay healthy. I shudder to think what stats he would have put up against the Chargers. You also need to do something with that offensive line if you're going to keep Big Ben healthy. Perhaps some moving pockets now and then or something, but they don't do very well in man on man matchups overall.
Smith is a big loss but they look fine without him so far. The O-Line is doing a good job of protecting Ben too. The sack numbers are high but most of the time that's Ben holding onto the ball too long and trying to make a play. You almost never see that guy throw the ball away.

Special teams rear their ugly head as it's the difference in the Bengals game. D played tough and did it's job. Offense was stymied. Bengals just beat the Steelers.

This was a really good, hard hitting game, and fun to watch even with the limited scoring. Two good teams that both wanted this game. The Bengals are for real. The season isn't over yet though, but I think you're both in the playoffs barring injuries. What's the scoop on Polamalu's knee?
