Darren should have a "bulk edit" ready soon which will allow us to update all heights, weights and speeds after the combine information is available. This bulk edit will allow us to go in BY CONFERENCE and we can make all the changes to all of the PPs or PPPs in our respective conferences on one page. This will be far easier for us than cycling though the current PP or PPP Edit function and doing them one at a time.

Please check here for that information.
PatriotofMaine
Darren,

Can you post your progress on the bulk edit here, and let me know if I've left out any operational details of this new function that the guys all should know about?

TIA....
draftguru
As official reports have come in on measureables I have been updating the players profiles so although numbers haven't been posted here yet lots of numbers have been added to the database and I mean a lot.
PatriotofMaine
Good work Andrew,

Adam should have quite a bit of stuff for us soon, and I'm taping all the NFL Total Access Combine coverage, so I'll also be throwing in some solid data.

I dont understand why it is so difficult to find out these official times....

Ive been watching the combine coverage and NFL Network's unofficial reported times are never correct... Then, all they show is the top 5's.... There is no source on the internet or TV that shows the times for every prospect... Im beginning to think that there isnt an "official" time, and that scouts just time them for themselves....

Jerome Mathis was timed "unofficially" at 4.33 and 4.31...and yet on NFL.com there is an article stating that he really ran in the 4.25 range, the fastest in combine history....

Does anyone know where Airese Currie ran? Or if he even did at all?
gpngc
http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/8235750

Gil Brandt reported that Mathis' time was between 4.25-4.29...
gpngc
Thanks for those numbers....

Yeah, its a mystery to me why NFL.com cant just release all the official results, and instead we have to go on a scavenger hunt to find them....I wanted to add speeds for some of my PPs, but its so difficult to find the data...

Any body have the officials for the LBs?
PatriotofMaine
LBs did not get much coverage on ESPN. Rob, I suspect NFL.com will keep publishing those gradually over time, so we should probably use those for our final updates. Can you keep making threads like this for each position as they become available to you?
PatriotofMaine
Awesome Rob...Make this a sticky thread, K?
PatriotofMaine
Down at the bottom of each thread you have "moderation options"...I'll get it...that makes it a thread that is permanently "stuck" to the top of the forum.
TheDude
Wow. Thanks much, Rob. I dunno where you're getting all this from, but it's been a big help. Quick question...if you don't have a number for a particular agility test, is it simply because they didn't participate?? I would think so, since everything else on these lists seems to be right on the money.

Stanford Routt, Baby!!!!

Source: ESPN.com- Todd McShay, Scouts, Inc.

"Justin Miller wasn't quite as fast as expected, but he solidified himself as a late-first-round prospect with his 4.44 speed, as did Carlos Rogers with a strong showing of 4.48. The top two cornerbacks in this year's class -- Antrel Rolle and Adam Jones -- both elected not to run or work out. Rolle left the combine early to get back to Miami in preparation for his pro-timing workout Thursday. The only other cornerbacks who opted not to run were Bryant McFadden (own choice) and Corey Webster (turf toe)."

This is an excerpt from ESPN insider's coverage of all the combine results... I will use ESPN's results for my own projects and records because I have easy access to it....The reason why I am pointing it out to everyone else is that it

A) gives insight into Justin Miller's performance, which is hard to find because the NFL Network did not televise the combine while his group was working out...

and

B) shows the discrepancies about these 40 times. There are so many watches that it is really hard to change a view about a guy that much unless the time was completely horrible...NFL.com reported that Carlos Rogers ran a 4.31. ESPN is saying that it was actually a 4.48? What? And there is no trend- ESPN's times are not slower then the rest... for example: Derrick Johnson is listed as running a 4.56 by ESPN but was said to run a 4.65 by the NFL Network...Darryl Blackstock ran a 4.66 according to ESPN but was said to run a 4.7ish by other sources.... When all is said and done, I really don't think we should put too much stock into how fast the times were, because in reality, we really don't know and never actually will. The NFL loves speed, but "poor" 40 times did not hurt guys like Shawn Andrews, Kevin Jones, and Michael Clayton in the draft last year, and Jones and Clayton ended up being two of the most productive rookies in the NFL.
PatriotofMaine
Stanford is a lot bigger and has been more productive overall--regardless of stats...Still, they are both on the new preliminary Top 100.

Note- I got these from a friend who works for the Colts and he indicated that even some "official times" seemed very different from what he saw. These are best of the two times not an average, if anyone has the other 40 I'd like to see them.
PatriotofMaine
Hmmmm...interesting comment from the Colts' scout....Thanks for the post Bill.
PatriotofMaine
Awesome info, Rob!! Thanks for posting it. Everybody..let's use the average of these two official 40s and get them updated.

Looks like Sensabaugh will definitely needed to be added back into our top 100, huh Rob? Francisco is already off it...it will be real hard for him to come back from running in the 4.8s...I wonder if he was hurt or sick or something...those are very disappointing times for him. Brimmer is history too....what a shame.
draftguru
Yeah definitely fastest of the two times. Since the player is obviously fast enough to run that time that is what his 40 time is.
TheDude
I have to agree. Once a player runs a time, he's proved his ability to reach that speed.
adavis
Sweet info. I personally dont think Roth or James could work as LBs. Both are great athletes, but I think they are pure pass rush DEs. I thought McGruder was bigger than that? Merriman put up 25, good strength. Surprise Clifford Dukes put up 28, nice!
PatriotofMaine
Yes...very impressive. Owens will make a team as a KR specialist...even if he's not drafted the guy is incredibly quick and slippery.
bcdrama
Both Gibson and Brown from UGA slower than advertized! wink.gif
