While everybody was busy arguing over Adrian McPherson, Michael Hawkins, to me one of the most intriguing and overlooked stories of the draft, has had an excellent rookie camp. Sixth-round cornerback Mike Hawkins continued to raise eyebrows in practice.
Hawkins, the long-shot prospect whose only experience the past two years was in the Arena Football League, intercepted a pass for the second consecutive day. The speedy Hawkins broke in front of a pass from rookie quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the end zone and went the other way with it.
"He just came out of his cut really well," assistant secondary coach Lionel Washington said. "I'm not sure if it was a bad pass. The guy can read routes. When he comes out of his cuts, he comes out with speed and explosion. That's what you want out of a corner."
