Full Version: New Kid On The Block
CDS Boards > General Access Boards > Hi! Are you new to CDS?
BGizzle
My name is Bill (some call me Billy still...it's no big deal). I am in Italy right now and will be here for 8 months because I'm helping prepare for the Winter Games with NBC. Needless to say I will be LONGING for some football, whether high school, college or pro this season. Just wanted to say hey.

Hey Bill, glad to have ya aboard. Make as many posts as you want. Welcome.

Italy for 9 months? Sounds like a nice deal. Of course missing the football season will be rough, but I imagine that you'll be able to see some games over there. Anyway, welcome to CDS. Hope you enjoy it here and we'll try to give you enough football to satisfy your cravings.

Thanks guys. Actually heard about the web site through my brother. Looking forward to seeing how things go with the site.

8 months in Italy is quite a gig, but it's also quite a bit of work. I'll get whatever games I can whenever I can. I'm REALLY going to miss the college season. Thank God for the internet.

Hey Bill, whats up. What part of Italy is it? Welcome to the sight man and enjoy.

LOL Rob, how did you get so good at that? laugh.gif

I am in Turin (Torino to the locals) which is in the NW corner of Italy at the base of the Alps. I am VERY close to France.

My college likes would be The 'Huskers and then MOST of the ACC (UNC, Wake, Maryland and Tech). I have 4 former players (I am a high school football and baseball coach) playing / starting in that Conference. And few other acquaintances in the same conference.

Not too big of a pro football fan. I have some guys I like to watch play. I USED to LOVE the Dolphins. But after the way they "hosed" Shula and Marino in the retirement years I really haven't liked them.

What else? Fire away boys! What about you guys?
BGizzle
Yes they have fallen from grace. But I played college football and baseball in Kansas and my football HC went there. So I fell in love with them and have stuck by them since 1989. I'm not quite 100% in favor of the "new" offense but I will give it another year. I really think the Big 12 has come A LONG WAY and deserves some respect. Top to bottom, that Conference isn't all that bad.

Hey Gizzle,

Do you have any connections with some of the big wheels at NBC? We are working on a new post-season all star game for IAA/NAIA v. Div II/Div III. We have "Doctors Without Borders" all-hooked up as our primary charity and are planning to play the game in the RCA Dome the week before the combine in Indianapolis. We are calling it the "CDS Rice-Long Bowl" after Jerry Rice and Howie Long--two small school greats. At some point in the near future we will be looking for a broadcast contract/donation.
BGizzle
I can look into it. I MIGHT know a person or two here. (Feel the sarcasm?)
PatriotofMaine
That would be great.

We aren't looking for a big contract. But if a network would carry the game and write off the expenses as a charitable contribution to DWB that would be awesome.
