Cal's defense has been real disappointing lately, and it was at its worse on Saturday when they surrendered 38 points to Wazzu. Cal barely survived a 2nd half meltdown in the last moments of the game when Ayoob hooked up with Lavelle Hawkins for the go ahead score. Cal is now 3-2 in Pac-10 play, good enough for 4th in the conference. Cal has a November 5th date at Oregon which will be a deciding factor in both team's seasons. Wazzu loses its 4th straight game, and for the 2nd straight game, comes just short of upsetting a top 25 team.

Cal PP's:

Donnie McCleskey- I can't say that I've been that impressed with Donnie this year. I had high expectations but he just seems to get lost out there at times: negative

Harrison Smith- didn't do much wrong, but didn't do a whole lot right either: slightly negative

Ryan O'Callagahn- injured

Marvin Phillip- had a pretty good game as Cal finally got its running game back on track: positive

Washington St. PP's:

Troy Bienamann- 2 receptions for 30 yards, very inefficient: negative

Will Derting- missed some tackles but showed good speed and energy. A move to OLB is definantly in this man's future: neutral

Kyle Basler- first of all this guy has the funniest smile I have ever seen.

Had one inside the 20, but only an average of 42.2 yards: negative

Jerome Harrison- fantastic day, 26 rushes for 162, carried this Wazzu team and helped open up the passing game: positive

I agree totally on McClesky. He is just a guy this year, and has long since fallen off of our top 100.

I was not that impressed with Lynch in this one. Didn't bust any long ones, and looked to me to be dancing too much in this one.

This was my first real good chance to see Jerome Harrison. All I can say is WOW! Looks like a smaller version of Ryan Moats.

Derting didn't play, Sam. He's been out for three straight weeks, and is another guy whose stock is taking a dive.

I was impressed with Troy's blocking. He looks to be 100% again, and may be among the top 10 TEs for the draft when all is said and done.

Did anybody say anything about when O'Callaghan may be able to begin working out again? Do you think he could be ready for the combine or a pro day workout? What do you know about the nature and extent of his injury?

TIA...

NICE WRITEUP!

I don't know the extent of O'Callagahn's injury, sorry. I wasn't as impressed with Troy as you were. He seemed to block well on some plays but at times he seemed overmatched. Definantly the body to be a good blocking TE though. Speaking of TE's, did anyone see Marcedes Lewis this week? Amazing, has to be our #1 TE now.

Hey Sam,

With your connections to the Cal program can you find out about O'Callaghan?
Broncosfan713
Ok, I asked my cousin(this kid lives and breathes Cal football) about O'Callagahn. He said he's not entirely sure, but the word on the street is he's out for the year.
PatriotofMaine
Yea, we know that. Do we know anything about the nature and extent of the injury? Do we know anything about whether he can rehab in time for post-season combine/pro days?
Broncosfan713
O'Callagahn is known to be tough, however this only gives him 5 months give or take to rehab. I expect him to be back, but not for anything but the combine or pro days.
