College: Texas Tech Confrence: Big 12

Taurean Henderson 19 510.0 207 N/A HB

Positive. I see this kid, I see Kevin Faulk. The production is there, the hands are probably even better than Faulk's, the quickness and shiftiness. It's all there. It's hard to get a read on his blitz pickup because he's usually out in a pattern. He was a bright spot in a tough game for Tech. He'll never be a "bell cow" NFL back, but he will be a real weapon in a change of pace role.

Bristol Olomua 33 605.0 256 N/A TE

Neutral. He made a couple of catches, nothing spectacular. I really did like his frame. He's a good sized target.

John Saldi 5 604.3 233 N/A LB

Slightly Positive. He really covers a lot of ground at his size. Definitely an effort player. He hustled to the ball all game long. He does seem stiff and not overly physical. He still needs work on shedding blocks. Has potential to be a nice 3-4 mike backer with some improvement.

Jarrett Hicks 88 603.0 210 N/A WR

Slightly Positive. He has great awareness. He is already very skilled at sideline catches. He really uses his body to shield off the defender. I would like to see more explosiveness from him against the jam. Needs another year, but he will be a top flight WR in whichever year he declares.

Manuel Ramirez 63 604.0 330 N/A OG

Positive. He has a lot of line call responsibilites and seems very comfortable with that. He really held his own against a very talented Texas d-line. Seemed nimble and not phased by the speed of Texas' d-line either. One to watch.

College: Texas Conference: Big 12

Cedric Griffin 8 601.0 205 4.47 CB

Slightly Positive. He made some great tackles for a corner. Really looks like a free saftey. He doesn't have the feet to backpedal and lost his balance a few times.

Michael Huff 7 600.0 199 N/A S

Positive. This guy was around the ball all game. He had some nice hits and was more physical than he has been in the past. Just a flat out ballhawk.

Rodrique Wright 90 605.0 305 4.9 DT

Slightly Positive. He looks like the Rod Wright of his sophomore season again. He was very explosive and blew by the TT line on several occasions. Tech has a really unique o-line scheme, so it's difficult to get a represenative look at Rod's game. He was solid tough.

Jonathan Scott 73 607.0 310 N/A OT

Positive. He had some iffy moments run blocking, but overall was solid. He just locks into DE's and neutralizes them.

Vince Young 10 605.0 230 N/A QB

Slightly Negative. A typical VY game. He has some great plays, and he has a handful of bad plays. He is still overthowing his receivers more often than he should be. I don't know if that throwing motion will work in the NFL. I have my doubts. He had some nice runs and a couple of good deep balls.

Larry Dibbles 92 602.0 285 N/A DT

Neutral. Wasn't a factor in the game. He was splitting time with Robinson who he a great day.

David Thomas 16 603.0 245 N/A TE

Neutral. VY overthrew him on a couple of occasions, and Texas was throwing downfield more. Wasn't much of a factor.

Will Allen 72 606.0 315 N/A OG

Slightly Positive. He seems to be improving from last year. He is starting to play more under control with the improved footwork.

Aaron Harrris 2 600.0 235 4.63 LB

Positive. He has really good quickness. His 40 time really doesn't do him justice. He flies to the ball and make solid tackles. He also had a nice hit on Henderson. Solid game for him.

Justin Blalock 63 604.0 329 N/A OT

Positive. He dominated the right side all game long. Texas runs behind him quite a bit. I'm noy sure he has the feet and quickness to be a tackle, but he will be a solid guard.

Others of note:

Quan Cosby. Wow. This kid is a burner. He has amazing straight line speed. He is only a true frosh, so he has time to work on his receiving game, but as a punt returner, wow. One to watch for sure. He is also a baseball player.

Great, instructive writeup, Jeff!

Hey, do you think we should relist Griffin as a safety? That issue goes for Jimmy Williams, too, Jeff West, if you see this...TIA.
