LSU went up 14-0 with two quick scores at the end of the first quarter, but then bogged down and let Florida climb back into the game before scoring a game-clinching TD in the fourth quarter.

LSU PRO PROSPECTS:

Joseph Addai #10 600.0 210 4.44 HB - He was the workhorse back for the Tigers, logging 32 carries and 3 catches. Addai sets up his blockers well, showing good patience, before using a quick burst through the hole. Addai also has the ability to catch the swing pass out of the backfield and make people miss. He shrugged a DB away with a good stiff arm and was able break arm tackles as well. (POSITIVE)

Skyler Green #5 510.0 195 4.42 WR - Green was used primarily as a return man and did not get much work at wideout (fourth option). Florida did an excellent job of keeping punts away from Green and he was only able to return one (for one yard). He averaged 22 yards on two kick returns. If Green is not able to make his mark on the offense, his draft status has to be lowered. (NEGATIVE)

LaRon Landry #30 602.0 187 4.48 S - Landry really had a chance to show off his cover skills in this game. He had a couple of nice passes defended, although one was a ball that should have easily been intercepted, but went right through Landry's hands. Landry also showed well in run support and was frequently in on, or near the tackle. (SLIGHTLY POSITIVE)

Cameron Vaughn #46 602.0 220 4.56 LB - Vaughn was very active from his MLB position. He seemed to do best in open space, when he was able to cover receivers or rush the QB. Whenever he had to fight through blocks to get to the play, he struggled a bit. Vaughn may project better as a Will backer at the next level as he isn't very physical. (NEUTRAL)

Justin Vincent #25 510.0 219 4.42 HB - Vincent got one early carry and fumbled. He wasn't seen again. (VERY NEGATIVE)

Andrew Whitworth #76 607.0 325 5.24 OT - Whitworth played a solid game. He was matched up against Joe Cohen for much of the game. Whitworth did get called for a couple holding penalties. Both were very cheap calls in my estimation. Whitworth seemed especially proficient in run-blocking and was able to use his size and strength to open nice holes and drive his defender out of the play. (POSITIVE)

Kyle Williams #95 602.0 295 4.85 DT - The Tigers switched up their fronts a bit and had Williams playing directly over the center. He and Degory had some nice battles when they were one on one, although with a three-man front, Degory usually had some guard help. Williams got behind the line for a tackle on a stunt once, but was neutralized most of the game. (NEUTRAL)

Claude Wroten #98 603.0 293 5.03 DT - Wroten was frequently lining up at LDE against Lance Butler. He was able to get some penetration on a few occasions, although Leak was often drifting away from Wroten's side of the field so Wroten wasn't able to get to him. (NEUTRAL)

Sammy Joseph 511.0 182 N/A CB - DNP

JaMarcus Russell #4 605.5 250 4.82 QB - The sophomore QB is going to be a great one. He's got some learning to do still, but he's well on his way. He has an NFL arm already. He puts plenty of zip on his short and intermediate passes and has the arm strength to throw deep. His deep balls floated a little, but were still accurate. Russell's drop is a bit slow, as is his progression through his reads. He sells the play-action fake well. Russell appears very comfortable in the pocket, although his pocket awareness needs to improve some. (POSITIVE)

Melvin Oliver #90 603.0 277 5.1 DE - Oliver played a nice game. He was an active run-stopper from the outside and was able to force the runs towards the sidelines. He also showed some good pass rush skills as he got after Leak a couple times and brought him down once. (POSITIVE)

Dwayne Bowe #80 603.0 220 4.57 WR - This kid is a keeper. He's a lanky 6' 3" and has outstanding hands. He is able to get open and presents a big target to throw to. He uses his body well to shield the defender from the ball. If he stays in school, he'll be one of the top draft prospects for 2007. (VERY POSITIVE)

Nate Livings #71 605.0 313 5.58 OG - Livings isn't the most mobile of the guards, but is certainly a load. He was able to open some running lanes for the backs and overpowered the Gator DTs for the most part. (SLIGHTLY POSITIVE)

Chris Jackson #41 511.0 159 N/A K - Jackson handled the kickoff duties and also punted very well (7 punts, 45.7 avg, long of 54, 4 inside the 20, and 1 TB). He didn't have any FG opportunities and the XPs were kicked by Colt David. (NEUTRAL)

Others to watch:
Chase Pittman (Junior DE) - A Texas transfer, Pittman has good size and speed for an edge rusher. He was frequently in the backfield causing problems for the QB and showed the speed to track down the ball carrier from behind. He played an elephant position on both sides and really made an impact.

Ali Highsmith (Soph OLB) - A speedy tackling machine. Highsmith was all over the field and frequently in the backfield. He will need to add some bulk, but is quite an athlete and playmaker.

FLORIDA PRO PROSPECTS:

Dallas Baker #81 603.0 200 4.50 WR - The big WR made more of an impact by blocking than by catching passes. Florida had little time to throw the ball with LSU's pass rush and Baker was unable to get open quickly for Leak. The Florida passing game will have to get back on track quickly for Baker to have a shot at getting drafted. (NEUTRAL)

Lance Butler #72 607.0 309 5.25 OT - Played a decent game, although Claude Wroten was able to get around him on a few occasions. On those plays, however, the QB was rolling away from Butler's side so it wasn't a problem. (NEUTRAL)

Andre Caldwell #5 602.0 180 4.39 WR - DNP

Mike Degory #68 605.0 313 5.35 C - Played an outstanding game. He had Kyle Williams in his face and had him singled up about half the time. Those were some good battles with neither player able to make much headway against the other. Degory needs to improve his shotgun snaps (since Leak only lines up in the shotgun) as there were a few that came in very low and difficult to handle. (POSITIVE)

Randy Hand #74 606.0 315 5.12 OT - Hand played one of the poorer games I've seen from him. He had trouble keeping Melvin Oliver tied up and couldn't get to Chase Pittman when he lined up on the edge. He was beaten to the outside a few times and didn't show the lateral movement needed at the position. (NEGATIVE)

Chris Leak #12 600.0 205 4.64 QB - Leak seems to have gone on a downward spiral ever since the beating he took at the hands of Alabama. He no longer seems comfortable in the pocket and doesn't throw the ball with any authority. He was wildly inaccurate, overthrowing and underthrowing receivers. He did protect the ball well and didn't take any unnecessary chances. (NEGATIVE)

Demetrice Webb #15 511.0 190 4.47 CB - Webb is an elite talent at CB. He plays very physical against larger wideouts and also is able to help against the run. He shows very good cover skills and can anticipate the receivers' moves. He also is a good special teams player. He got beat for a TD today when he mistimed his jump against a taller receiver. I also saw him take a few plays off. I'm not sure if he's bored with the college game and is ready to play NFL football or if he's just a bit immature and needs another year to reach his full potential. (SLIGHTLY POSITIVE)

Earl Everett #30 602.0 232 4.52 LB - Everett is a speedy OLB who was always involved in the play. He has a good football nose and seems to read plays quickly. Led the Gators with 14 tackles. (VERY POSITIVE)

Ray McDonald #95 603.0 285 4.81 DE - Only played a couple of snaps as he returned from injury. (INCOMPLETE)

Brandon Siler #40 602.0 230 4.52 LB - Siler played a very good game. He was all over the field and was relentless in his efforts to bring down the ball carriers. He displayed outstanding speed and decent recognition skills at the Mike backer. He's a true sophomore so he still has some learning to do, but he appears to be a very smart player who will pick things up quickly. He was outphysicaled a few times today and was unable to shed some blocks. (POSITIVE)

Jarvis Herring #46 511.0 201 4.46 S - Herring doesn't seem to do anything exceptionally well, but is solid all-round. He made some very key stops and was in the right place to gather an interception and recover a fumble. (SLIGHTLY POSITIVE)

Jeremy Mincey #57 603.5 265 4.79 DE - Mincey was a monster against the run, racking up ten tackles. He gets off blocks well and has excellent pursuit ability. He also is a solid pass rusher and got Leak down once for a 12-yard loss. He's playing his way up the draft boards with strong showings despite missing the presence of Ray McDonald on the other side. Mincey may have a 4th or 5th round grade now. (VERY POSITIVE)

Chad Jackson #8 601.0 205 4.45 WR - Jackson had a relatively quiet day. He managed five receptions, but most of them were very short gainers. (NEUTRAL)

Eric Wilbur #10 602.0 192 N/A P - I was very impressed with Wilbur. He kept the ball away from Skyler Green all day by using a rugby kicking style and aiming for the sidelines. He still managed a solid 43.2 average on his ten punts including a long of 51 and three inside the 20.

Others to watch:
Jarvis Moss (Soph DE) - Moss appears to be fully recovered from a mysterious infection that had plagued him for a few years. He is still regaining weight (I think he's up to about 245 at 6' 6") and has plenty of frame to add more. He had his radar locked on Leak and sacked him three times. He was nearly unblockable off the edge with his speed and desire to get to the QB. He's a player I look forward to watching over the coming years.

DeShawn Wynn (Junior RB) - He was nearly the entire Gator offense. He has the power to run between the tackles, brushing aside arm tackles. He also has the speed and quickness to bounce a run to the outside and turn the corner.

Green seems to have a great game followed by a ho-hum game frequently, doesn't he?

Is Earl Everett done after this season?
CHIEFS#56DJ
No, Earl Everetts a junior when i did the Florida-Bama game he really stuck out and looked better than Siler he wasnt in the database though

We focus on getting seniors in the database first and foremost. Then we evaluate which juniors (or draft eligible sophs) we think will declare for the upcoming draft and get them in.

Everett is not likely to declare for the 2006 NFL Draft, in my opinion.

As for Skyler Green... I taped the LSU-Auburn game and have it on my "To be reviewed" list. Apparently he had a much better game this past weekend.

Green had a 66 yard punt return for a TD.

1 rush for 17 yards and 5 receptions for 27 yards.

Sammy Joseph isn't going to play this season and Justin Vincent is third string and will see very, very little time.

Thanks for the info LSUSaint. I think Vincent came in the game before Carey made an appearance and only got the bench because of the fumble.

As for Joseph... do you have any info on him? Why isn't he playing this year?
PatriotofMaine
Green's versatility in the return game will get him drafted in round 4 in my best estimation at this point. Not quite top 100 material, but not very far off it either.

Vincent did come in and fumbled almost immediately.

He had one carry in the Auburn game and Carey had two.

Vincent is inconsistent and is still very sluggish. He's lost a step.

He let the fame and fortune get to his head after his freshman season.

Joseph is on the team. I don't know why he's not playing. He started as a true freshman for Colorado before transfering. Joseph has two total tackles this season. He's currently behind Chevis Jackson, Ronnie Prude, Jonathan Zenon, and Mario Stevenson. Daniel Francis and Jeffrey Jack also take away his playing time. He plays special teams and I haven't seen him on defense yet.

I think he's better then Zenon, Francis, and Jack and could be our nickel or dime CB at the least. Maybe he's having trouble with the playbook or got in Miles' doghouse. I don't know.

He has talent. I don't know why he's not on the field.

I'm not sure if he's niked up. I'll try to find out more.

Thanks Saint. We appreciate it!

Joseph Addai is moving up many draft boards as he gets the lion's share of carries at LSU, also more scouts are becoming interested in Bowe who is being compared to Rod Gardner, but with better: moves, hands, and ball skills. Ali Highsmith has nearly Brooksian upside. LSU has so much speed with Doucet, Carter, Green and Brazell they could compete at a high level as a 4x100 relay squad, literally, Carter and Brazell have world-class speed, it would be interesting to see if they can find a way to find them some more touches off of reverses, end arounds or jailbreak screens.
I love Siler and Wynn for UF and it looks like the wrong Leak brother transferred to Tennessee. Wynn and Addai will both be solid backs in the NFL.
Vincent at 237 is not the back he was at 224, he should, do as Wynn did and, slim down.
If there were a NCAA D-I Football tournament LSU is one of those teams that a higher ranked opponent would dread. wink.gif

Addai wouldn't even be getting half of his carries now if Alley Broussard didn't get hurt. Look for Broussard next year, he's a monster.

I've been telling everyone.

Addai will be a better RB in the NFL then former Tiger Domanick Davis. Addai wil run the 40 in the 4.45 range and will be a mid second round pick.

LSU's WRs need to work on their hands. Watch the replay of the Aubun game.

Bennie Brazell and Xavier Carter won the 4x400 relay in the championship meet or whatever you call it. They are champions of the 4x400 relay. Carter was the anchor.

People forget how big Carter is. At 6-3 with world class speed, the sky's the limit.

Carter needs more touches. If I'm OC Jimbo Fisher, I circle at least 4 plays for him (reverses or screens) a game.

Highsmith is a former Miami recruit who'll be one of the best if not the best LB to ever play at LSU.

I wasn't much of a believer in Addai coming into the year just because he wasn't even able to keep Broussard below him on the depth chart. Broussard is an excellent runner and I look forward to his return next year.

That's a bold statement. I don't know if I'm ready to make it yet. Addai isn't quite the receiver that Davis is (although Addai is no slouch in that area). I think Addai is more physical a runner, but he doesn't have the quickness Davis does.

Bowe nearly killed them in that game.

There's so many weapons there - it's hard to get everyone involved.

The more I see him, the more I like him. He's got some great speed himself. I didn't realize he is the younger brother of Alonzo Highsmith. Some nice genes there.

I've watched every LSU football game since I can remember. Probablly since 1997.

I saw all of Davis' games and I've seen all of Addai's games.

Addai is more physical and has the hands Davis posseses. Addai will be bring more to the table then Davis and will be able to carry more of a load. Addai is quicker and faster then you think.

As big of a fan as I am of Addai, I'd take Broussard.

He's a bruiser and is a TD machine in redzone piling 10 TDs last season.

He's tough to bring down and is gold in the redzone. He is best in between the tackles but don't be fooled by his size (6-0 237). He can bounce it outside and take it the distance. Watch the Capital One Bowl Game last year against Iowa. He's pure muscle and can probably run a 4.5.

Broussard is the type of back the Steelers would love.

He can carry a team.
