I played QB at SVSU about 6 yrs ago and saw my young protege John D. on the site so I signed up.
Here to chop it up about football, and exchange knowledge.

Welcome to the site. We certainly welcome your expertise and look forward to hearing about your experiences. Hope you enjoy it here.
You have any favorite QB prospects for the 2006 NFL Draft? If so, why?

Thanks for the welcome boys,
Obviosly Matt Leinart is top on everyone's list for the draft and I think he will do very well if he stays healthy and ends up on the right team.
A few sleepers could be Omar Jacobs, and Drew Stanton.

Welcome Garrett. We're honored to have you here. Do you know John D. personally? He's a great guy, and we're doing everything we can to help get the word out about him. Did you check out his highlight video here at CDS yet?

Thanks PatriotofMaine,
Yes I know John D. I was the QB right before he started playing and eventually was a graduate assistant coach for the scout team where Johnny was a man among boys. I could tell then he was a special player, and a geniune GREAT kid. He knows he's better then the competition but you will NEVER hear it, he leads by example and has a nack for flying to the ball. I coached on the staff for 2 yrs before moving back to California, and was not suprised at all to see the player he has grown to be. His size and playing in D2 football will be a drawback for him, but if there scouts go on actual talent and not EYE CANDY he'll be where he's supposed to be.

Right on. I've had a hard time convincing some professional people to take a harder look. But I'm sold he can play at the next level if he gets the right breaks.
Did you like his highlight vids?
What are you doing these days, Garrett? Still involved in football? If not, wanna be???

Honestly we had a linebacker at SVSU that graduated in 2001 and was very similar to John and he was a stud (Adam Wheatley), but when the Pro's saw him they said he's a tweener, and they tried to switch him to strong safety which resulted in only Arena ball and nothing now. I'm afraid they'll try and do the same for John, but the NFL loves EYE CANDY, they will take a D1 guy that is 6'2 250 with not as much skill then John because its a safer recommendation for the scout in my opinion. I've seen the tape, lol I broke down his film everyday in practice so I know what he can do which is run and make plays.
As far as me I had a good junior season at SVSU after playing at San Francisco City College, threw for 21 TD's which was a school record lol ( they ran the veer before I got there, and me being a slow white pocket passer didn't fit), but I had my 6th concussion early in my senior season and was disqualified from football, which was a dagger to my heart. I stayed out there to finish my free education, and coached for 3 yrs. I learned a lot being a player, and then being a coach in the meeting rooms, but the pay and the hours didn't equal what I could of been making elsewhere. So I do Insurance now I'm married and happy, but I miss the hell out of being involved with football. Ya never know what the future brings though.

I took trips to Humboldt State, St. Mary's, Arkansas Monticello, and Saginaw Valley St. I wanted to go to UC Davis but they offered no $. Saginaw was running the veer very successful but their coach Jerry Kill took a job at Emporia St, and now is at Southern Illinois. So Randy Awrey took over, and brought his Offensive Coordinator Jim Kiernan who went out to Cali to find JUCO QB, and the rest is history.
