Pitt played very well in the first half and actually held a 1-point lead briefly in the 2nd quarter, but they came out flat in the second half and never scored again as Louisville romped.
SCOUTING SUMMARY:
College: Pittsburgh Conference: Big East
Name Jersey# Height Weight Speed Position
Bernard Lay 12 601.8 195 4.60 CB: Made a couple of nice plays, but doesn't make enough of them to carry a first day grade. Still he's a big corner who hits well, and finds the ball in the air pretty well. Should be able to get into the second day alright. NEUTRAL
Greg Lee 86 602.0 198 4.50 WR: Worst game I have seen from Greg this year. He had two BAD drops in the second half that Pitt absolutely needed in order to keep pace, and as a result they were unable to do it. Did not position himself well in the corner of the endzone for a Palko pass that may have drawn them closer also and did not get the TD catch. Appeared to be pressing after his first big drop. Still, he did catch 7 balls and will not fall out of the first day unless he plays like this every game the rest of the way. The junior reportedly will declare. NEUTRAL
Erik Gill 45 604.5 270 4.81 TE: Erik blocks pretty well and had a couple of short pass receptions. Not the climber I thought he might be, but he should go in the 7th round or be a priority UDFA. NEUTRAL
H.B. Blades 51 511.0 244 4.61 LB: This junior COULD be the first LB off the board for the 2007 NFL draft. He was in on 20 tackles, had a TFL and a FR, and was just ALWAYS wherever the ball was. Seems to have a special knack for reading where the ball is going and gets there. I like his size, despite the fact he is a bit short because he is so compact and rugged. He will not be the type who gets dinged up a lot at the next level. VERY POSITIVE
Charles Spencer 56 604.7 330 5.50 OT: Not Charles's best game, but did nothing to hurt himself either. I did not see the outstanding footwork in pass pro tonight, but he was a warrior in the running game, and played with solid effort throughout. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Tyler Palko 3 602.0 220 4.75 QB: The junior QB had one of his better games from a leadership standpoint. Did not force the ball. Made good decisions. Lee let him down in this one, but he probably would not have brought them all the way back had they completed those passes anyway. My feeling about Tyler is that he is as good as many of the guys we are talking about as the 2nd QBs off the board this year, but he should play his senior year and MAY wind up in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft. POSITIVE
Adam Graessle 0.0 N/A P: Nothing special again. Where is this guy's booming leg I keep hearing about? His average is average. NEUTRAL

Michael Bush 19 602.7 250 4.60 HB: He and LenDale White...how do you choose between these two powerful Eddie George types? Michael may have even better versatily than White, but White is still a tad better as a pure runner, I would say. Had 2 TDs, one really nice long run, then went out with an ankle in the 3rd Q and did not return. POSITIVE
Brandon Johnson 97 604.5 218 4.65 LB: Brandon continues to progress. If he can bulk up before the combine and tests well on the bench he could go middle of day two. He has the look of a guy who could develop into an elite 3rd-down, pass-defense OLB at the next level. He was Louisville's leading tackler in the first half but coasted a bit in the second. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Elvis Dumervil 58 511.7 256 4.65 DE: Elvis was held in check pretty well by the Pitt line which had obviously schemed very well to neutralize him. He still managed to set the NCAA single season FF record (9) on the last play of the game when he also picked up his 20.5th sack. He is relentless, and reportedly Bill Polian (Colts) likes him a lot--that should tell us at least one guy in a position to know thinks he CAN do a Freeney-like job at the next level. NEUTRAL
Joshua Tinch 9 603.0 223 4.60 WR: Joshua continues to grow on me. I like him better than J.R. Russell now. He is similar in size but without the attitude baggage. He makes all the catches he's supposed to make, and fights for yardage after the catch. I do not see him ever being a #1, but he could make a solid #3 for somebody within a couple of years with the right coaching. POSITIVE
Travis Leffew 78 603.5 301 5.20 OT: Travis is a poor man's Daryn Colledge. Not quite as physical, but as effective in pass pro. I know lots of people are high on him and see him as a potential 3-4th rounder. I'd say 6th is where his value lies. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Montavious Stanley 92 602.5 315 5.10 NT: Montavious continues to do his job and do it well. He fills his run lanes very well and is always pushing the pocket back. Pitt rallied in the second quarter offensively with Montavious on the bench, and struggled whenever he was in there. The only time they had any success running the football was off tackle right (i.e. away from Stanley). That tells ME something. Had his 6th sack late in the middle of the 4th quarter and I had him in on 5 tackles. POSITIVE
