What was the Rutgers coaching staff thinking when they permitted their team to dance all over the Louisville Cardinals logo at centerfield before kickoff? Here is a team that is already better than you, and you are going to go out and purposely insult them on their home field before the game? Not a smart move. Rutgers played inspired football for a quarter and a half and was still in the game 14-5, before QB Brian Brohm and WR Joshua Tinch unloaded on them in the third quarter, scoring 28 unanswered. Louisville obviously took insult too, as they were still throwing the ball late in the fourth quarter up by a bundle.

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Rutgers Conference: Big East
Name Jersey# Height Weight Speed Position

John Glass 76 604.8 300 5.00 OG: John is playing better and better late in the year. He shows good aggressiveness now (something that was spotty earlier) and really uses his hands well in pass pro. He has always been a decent drive blocker and he is really showing that he has NFL potential with the way he has played lately. POSITIVE

Clark Harris 81 606.0 250 4.80 TE: He is definitely going to be a highly-sought after commodity in the '07 draft. He has very good hands and is improving as a blocker all the time. He would be well-suited to become a beast in the weightroom over the next few months, stay in school, and put himself squarely into day one in 2007. He only had a couple of catches, but he was being harrassed constantly by an agressive and fired-up Louisville defense all day. NEURAL

Brian Leonard 23 602.0 230 4.75 FB: Brian played well in bursts but was not nearly the factor he needed to be to help Rutgers defend their actions. He looked great hurdling a defender (as usual) on his first play from scrimmage, caught the ball pretty well, but didn't break any long runs and suffers from being THE first rushing option for a team without a headliner at HB. NEUTRAL

Tres Moses 8 509.8 191 4.50 WR: I don't think he caught a pass. Lousiville seemed to be aware of him all day, and the Rutgers receivers never got untracked under the heavy pressure from the Cardinals' defensive front. Tres's nation-leading consecutive catch streak ends. He did not do enough to get HIMSELF involved in this one, especially after the landslide started. NEGATIVE

Ryan Neill 91 603.0 260 4.78 DE: Played hard, as always, whistle to whistle, and to the final buzzer. Had a sack early, was in the backfield a lot and shows the ability to play the run as well as he rushes the passer. He may not be highly sought after on draft day, but it will be a mistake. The kid is almost as good as former Georgia DE David Pollack who went in the first round last year, and his motor is every bit as good as the former Georgia star. POSITIVE

Ryan Hart 13 602.0 200 4.9 QB: DNP...injured.

College: Louisville Conference: Big East
Name Jersey# Height Weight Speed Position

Michael Bush 19 602.7 250 4.60 HB: DNP...injured right foot.

Brandon Johnson 97 604.5 218 4.65 LB: Brandon is closing in on the top 100. he really excels in the passing game, and looks like an ideal WILL now at the next level. He isn't getting much ink, because Dumervil is getting it all, but he has really impressed me this year. He has the frame to wind up at 245, and when he does, he will be a consumate pro. He was very active in the first half, kind of coasted in the second a little, but displays very good ball skills and has become more of a sure tackler now than when he was younger. Tremendous upside here. POSITIVE

Elvis Dumervil 58 511.7 256 4.65 DE: Elvis was in the building, but Rutgers doubled him all night and kept him very quiet. No TFLs or sacks, but he did free up the rest of the D-line to get pressure. NEUTRAL

Joshua Tinch 9 603.0 223 4.60 WR: A breakout game for Josh. He was absolutely a monster in this one, catching everything thrown his way, including a 37-yard TD grab. He grows on you, the more you watch him. Mario Urutia was getting all the spotlight earlier this year, but Tinch has truly emerged lately, and is a solid middle-round WR prospect for the '06 draft now for sure. VERY POSITIVE

Travis Leffew 78 603.5 301 5.20 OT: Leffew looks like an NFL guard to me, and like a career backup at that position. He ius technically sound, but he never really jumps out at you. He is solid in pass pro at this level, but he is a guy I am afraid will be overwhelmed at the next if he stays outside. NEUTRAL

Montavious Stanley 92 602.5 315 5.10 NT: Quiet night for Montavious. He didn't do much disrupting tonight and could be protecting his injured shoulder. He did push the pocket well enough, but he was not the force he had been earlier when healthy. SLIGHTLY NEGATIVE

Others: #60 Ramel Meekins, Rutgers DT, is a guy I've had my eye on for awhile as a possible PP candidate. Only one big hit tonight...I think not.

What happened to Raymell Rice? He's been the headliner at HB all season for RU, allowing Leonard to run the ball a bit less, block some more, and catch some more passes.

Rice played, but wasn't effective at all. IMO, Leonard is still THE guy, nobody is fooled into thinking he isn't when Rice is out there.

For some reason I thought Rice had quite a few more carries than Leonard, but that's not the case.
