UCLA struck early with a 91 yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage, ASU answered and tied it up by halftime, and UCLA pulled away in the second half. UCLA looked good in this one as it tried to even with the state of Arizona after getting trampled in the previous week by the Wildcats. Olson broke Cade McNown's record of 25 TD's in season, as Olson now has 30 with 1 game still to go. UCLA has now played it's last home game and does not play again until the big game with SC on December 3rd.

UCLA PP's:

Spencer Havner- It's not even worth my time to tell you how good this player is, as you should A) Already know how good he is and cool.gif Look at his 8 tackle, 2 TFL, and 1 FR and decipher that he had a pretty good game: very positive

Jarrad Page- Played very well, finished with 10 tackles and impressed me after looking bad in the previous week: positive

Maurice Drew- Was held to just 3.8 yards per carry and a long run of only 15, but did finish with 88 yards and a TD, this was just a day for the pass: neutral

Drew Olson- Game of his life. 510 yards and 5 TD passes. Those are Peyton Manning type numbers, he was just on target all game, and his receivers for once made plays for him: VERY POSITIVE

Justin London- Did not play

Marcedes Lewis- Is just a mismatch no matter who is on him. His 6-6 size is just too much and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go top 15 now. His blocking also looked pretty good against the Sun Devils: positive

ASU PP's:

Derek Hagan- dropped some very catchable passes, but came back and finished with respectable numbers. At this point I don't like him in the 1st, but he's a solid 2nd: positive

Jamar Williams- Had a great game with 2 forced fumbles and 4 tackles. Seems to be a good tackler, as he is the one who was able to slow down Drew: positive

Grayling Love- Did not play

Dale Robinson- Finished with 14 tackles and 1 TFL. I'm not sure if I like him as a first, but I do love his fiery style of play. He will make a great weakside LB in the pro's: positive

UCLA now has 3 weeks off to prepare for the biggest game in their program in over a decade.

Thanks Sam. I watched this one too.

I am amazed how far Olson has come this year. 30 TDs and 3 interceptions? Can you say Omar Jacobs--only taller, more accurate and a better decision maker.

Spencer's BEST play was the BOGUS interference call where he came up and chucked the TE legally and picked the ball cleanly. That would have given him 13 career interceptions and most likely given UCLA an insurmountable 3 TD lead.

Robinson is a special player. I think he should go first round, but may slip into the 2nd or 3rd because of the West Coast bias.

Hagan "POSITIVE"? That was the worst game of his career. He cost his team a shot at coming back in this one. I agree. He should NOT be a first rounder, Sam. Early 2nd seems right to me. (I have been thinking that even befoe this game though.)

I was impressed with the backup QB for ASU. They really never missed a bit with Keller out.

Grayling Love didn't play in this game either. He's been injured and unable to play. I'm not sure how you can give Hagan a positive either. Sure he got open a few times, but he couldn't hold onto the ball, which was very costly, and even worse, he had several drops if I can recall. I think Marcedes should be worthy of a very positive grade as well. Dude was dominant. Not only did he have over 100 yards recieving, but he two of those came on great plays, one where he dragged along the defender for about 10 yards, and the other where he took away a potential pick right away from the defender and come up with the reception.

Right GLM. I think Marcedes solidified his claim to being the best TE in the '06 draft--especially if Pope doesn't declare--with another stellar performance.

Sure Hagan dropped the ball, but what great WR's don't occasionally? What I was impressed with was how he came back and caught that TD pass. He never let the drops get to him and that's why I gave him a positive overall.

Steve, I'm interested to see why you think Robinson is a first...he is a talent but I think the first seems to be a little high for him, especially with a very good LB class this year and teams ability to get strong play from LB's drafted in the 2nd round.

I think Marcedes is head and shoulders above every TE in the nation including Pope...by far. He will go top 20 this year and the next TE will go in the mid 2nd.
