How could you rate him as high as #2 and mention him in the same sentence as AJ Hawk. Im sorry I just dont see it. I saw A couple games this year and He's a good backer but you guys have him very overrated. He's not even the best Lb in the Pac 10. I remenber the Usc game last year where Havner or london couldnt even touch Reggie Bush. Im not tryin to put him down all Im sayin is that He is slightly over rated on this site. Some sites dont even have him in the top 10 so I see how he could be so high as # 2 here??

Our rankings are based on actual film assesment, opinion, discussion and projection. I think Spencer Havner projects as well into the NFL as any of the linebackers, including AJ Hawk. He is a great player and great person. Him being on our forums have nothing to do with his ranking, as many of the players that have forums are not even on the rankings and may not even be drafted.

We have worked hard to make sure we are not biased here, so other than 'Spencer Havner shouldnt be that high' you have to come with some facts on why he shouldnt be that high and whos better.

At MLB, who is better than Havner other than Hodge who we have listed as our top ILB? AJ Hawk is a OLB, so he cant fit into this equation.

The reason we like Havner so much here is his heart and fiery type of playing. His leadership is second to none, and star who is a better LB than him in the PAC-10? I'd really like to know.

It is also important to remember that our rankings are based on where we feel players should go based on what they bring to the game, not on when we think they WILL go. Spencer is a big play LB who is one of the most cerebral players in college football. I see him as a starting WILL for a team next year, but he may go as late as the third round because of the imfamous "West Coast bias." But that is much different than saying he SHOULD go that low.

Those comments from the guest sound awfully similar to a fan of a MAC QB that was on here not to long ago. The fact is that every site has guys that are ranked higher or that people see more in than somebody else might see. Not everybody is going to agree on 100% of the players and where they think they should be ranked.

Ahmad Brooks and Kai Parham.
PatriotofMaine
Ahmad Brooks IS higher in the top 100 and I agree he should be higher in the rankings for MLBs. Spencer is an OLB anyway, and I think he still projects to OLB at the next level better than ILB.

I think AJ can be included because when he plays he plays more of a MLB role in the Buckeye's defense. He calls the shots on the field and he moves around constantly before the snap and often times ends up more towards the middle than towards the outside. He's a much better canidate to make the transition to MLB than Lehman was a couple of years ago.

I think that he is a good player but like I said not even the best in the Pac 10. Also the LB from Maryland is pretty tough along with the Alambama Lb. Also another question you have Leo Willaims from Miami listed in the top 15. He was a top recruit out of high few years back and hasnt done anything with the chacnes he has been given and doesnt even start at miami so I dont get how he could be rated that high. My top 5 would be AJ Hawk, Demco Ryans, Chad Greenway, Bobby Carpenter and AJ Nickolos. All Im saying is that out of 15 sites Spencer Havner isnt even in the top 5 for any of them except condraft. I know rankings dont mean anything right now because as soon as the combine comes guys are goin to be falling or going up quickly. Its intersting to look at thou

Star, Spencer is a special player. He is the best LB in the country in terms of his impact in the passing game, and yet he has a knack for making plenty of big plays in the running game. He is the best LB candidate overall in the PAC-10, although Dale Robinson may outrank him slightly as a pure run stuffer. Spencer is the prototype modern NFL OLB in that he can do it all in the flat. He will be a Ted Bruschi-type game changer at the next level.

I like all those other guys you have mentioned too, but what you may not realize is that most other sites simply cut & paste from other sites. Many do not even do ANY scouting on their own. You will find some varied opinions here from other sites, and that's OK. Like you said, it's early and a lot can change. (Spencer will run in the 4.5s at the combine though...mark it down.) Other guys may do more reps, but he will be the perfect WILL in a system like the Pats have won 3 of 4 with.
star2001
Yea makes sense He sounds like a good guy And Im sure He'll work hard to prove guys like me wrong and thats a good thing because no matter how high your ranked people are always going to doubt you or look for something in your game to put you down. I agree with you there
PatriotofMaine
Why don't you chat with him in his forum under "Comunicate with your favorite 2006 pro prospects?" He loves to talk shop and he's on the site frequently.

Great Comparison, if I had to pick one person in the NFL to compare havner to it would be a OLB version of Teddy Bruschi
PatriotofMaine
Chiefs,

Yea..he has that type of ball awareness. He is not quite the power at the point of attack that Tedi is YET...but "yet" is definitely the operative word. I see him putting on 15 pounds and 5 bench reps over the next two years, and then he will be downright scary..ala Bruschi.

Star, who is the better LB in the Pac-10?
star2001
Honestly I Think hands down its Will Derting but Not anymore because he's been in the training room more then on the field but Id have to say Dale Robinson saw him play against LSU and wow. Also leads the Pac 10 in tackles. Havner might be the best pro prospect but def not the best player.

Will Derting???

I have not been impressed from what I have seen from him. He seemed overmatched, slow to react, and missed quite a few tackles. He is undersized for the next level and is not fast by any stretch. If I am missing something though please let me know.

Dale Robinson on the other hand I have been very impressed with.

Never said he was the best prospect just the best player but I have not seen him this year.

All I am asking is why you say that?
Asteinebach
Before Derting's recent slew of injuries, he was the best LB in the NCAA regardless of size. He's not as fast as he once was, basically because he's had some knee injuries slow him down in the past. But he used to be an absolute animal on the field. Since this season though, his play has gone right out the window. Sad, really.
star2001
I agree I rem Before the Injuries a few years back where H e just destroyed Notre Dame
