...except for the opening moments when Soph. Kentucky HB-KR Rafael Little returned a punt 75-yards for an apparent TD that would have given the Cats a solid 7-0 start. Of course, that was called back by the obligatory "block in the back" and Kentucky never threatened the rest of the way. Georgia just had way too many horses in both their offensive and defensive lines for Kentucky to deal with, and QB DJ Shockley was sharp in this one,--way too sharp for the Kentucky secondary.
SCOUTING SUMMARY:
College: Georgia Conference: Southeastern Columnist: Jeff West
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class
Gerald Anderson 92 602.0 315 5.24 DT 2006: Gerald is not flashy and will never be a dominant lineman at the next level. He does get decent pressure on the pocket and can tie up two guys occassionally, but I have a hard time seeing what all the preseason hype was about. He will be a journeyman on good teams or a so-so starter on a lower tier team at the next level, but I (personally) would not draft him before the late 3rd-early 4th area. NEUTRAL
Greg Blue 17 602.0 214 4.37 S 2006: Greg may indeed be the best pure, run-stuffing strong safety in college football. He had several solid hits and even did a couple of nice things in pass defense, but he will need to be teamed with a very good cover safety at the next level. Looks like a late second-rounder to me. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Kedric Golston 97 604.0 295 4.93 DT 2006: Kedric is THE guy for me on this Georgia line. I must admit his height intrigues me, and he is always getting those mitts up there when the ball is released. He is a better pass rusher than Anderson already, and unlike Gerald, he has room to go 20 pounds bigger. He has one of the best upsides of any of the highly-ranked DTs in this draft, and I think he could sneak into the late first round with a good post-season. He uses his hands to throw the offensive lineman away (in this case #91 Trey Mielsch who was a borderline PP to me--but was thoroughly abused 1-on-1 against Golston today). He was a wrecking crew in the first half when the game was still in doubt and coasted until the starters all came out in the early 4th Q after that. POSITIVE
Max Jean-Gilles 74 604.0 340 5.38 OG 2006: IF you need a road-grading guard who has good enough feet not to hurt you in pass pro, Jean-Gilles is DEFINITELY your man. Nobody rocks this guy back in college, and few will at the next level either. He's got the butt the pros want, and is an improved tactician this year who can do just about anything you might ask an NFL guard to do. He pulls better than you might think for a man his size. When he locks on the game is over. He will drive you to the ground and then sit on you. The only thing he might do a bit better is hunt up a second target after he demolishes the first. Definitely should be the first OG off the boards, and looks like 1 possible late-teens guy. If he should surprise and run better than a 5.20 he could go even a bit higher. POSITIVE
Leonard Pope 81 607.0 250 4.58 TE 2007: I'd take this guy over Lewis if he comes out, and I LOVE Lewis. He should wind up at 265-275 without losing any speed, and will be the BEST blocking/catching combo guy at TE in this draft in time. Did not do that much in this game, but had a 10-yard TD grab and blocked well. You can see star written all over him though. POSITIVE
DJ Shockley 3 601.0 206 4.42 QB 2006: There is a little Flutie in this kid. He didn't run that much, but you could tell the threat was always there and a defense has to account for it. He threw 4 TD passes, displayed good zip, does not telegraph, and has a very quick release. He will always need to move to find lanes at the next level, but he could be a serviceable backup. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Daniel Inman 607.0 322 N/A OT 2007: Hard to judge because so much of the game was in half sunlight/half shadows and I couldn't pick him up consistently on the away side. From what I could see he was alright, and didn't allow much pressue over his side. INC
DeMario Minter 2 600.0 198 4.42 CB 2006: They just didn't throw his way . He had a couple of tackles early on, and then we never saw him the rest of the way. INC
Quentin Moses 94 604.0 248 4.72 DE 2007: This is a guy who is getting over-shadowed, but he showed me something. I'd rather see him in a game WITHOUT two othe NFL-caliber D-linemen on the same side of the ball, but I'm sure he will get some late looks in any event. Rushes well. I had him in on 6 tackles and he had a nice solo sack in the 3rd quarter. Has the height to bulk up a bit, and could climb the charts. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Russ Tanner 50 603.0 300 5.00 C 2006: Did not notice...apparently his name was added late to the database and I didn't watch for him at all. Still the O-line was not challenged too much, and the middle of the line was particularly staunch. How much of that was Max though? INC
Tim Jennings 23 508.0 180 4.35 CB 2006: Tim was the guy they DID challenge and he rose up to it. He is definitely a PP, and I am pleased that he is now in the database. He is aggressive, looks to be smart enough to play at a high level, and was very active today. If that 4.35 is accurate, look out...he could end up as high as the 5th round EASILY. POSITIVE

Muhammad Abdullah 42 600.0 205 4.56 S 2006: Ehh...just another guy out there. Had a couple tackles and a TFL but he was beaten badly by McClendon on a TD pass, and did not look that good in the effort at all. SLIGHTLY NEGATIVE
Others:
KENTUCKY:
#91 DT Trey Mielsch has decent size and very good effort, but he was just swallowed up and spit out by Max today.
#18 TE Jacob Tamme might be a guy we paid a lot more attention to were he surrounded by a better supporting cast. I had him for five catches and his blocking is decent.
#22 Soph. HB-KR-PR Rafael Little was bottled up pretty well, but he displayed his exposiveness at times and we WILL be talking a lot more about him over the next couple seasons.
GEORGIA:
#1 Freshman receiver Tim Massaquoi is going to be a star in this conference before it is all said and done. Good hands. Really gets open.
#6 HB Kraig Lumpkin was a big name last year who is starting to work his way back into the mix and contributed nicely in this one. He's a guy who I could see putting it all back together and climbing up the boards.
