I was able to get Allante Harrison, CB, Towson (MD) in today also. Several more of "our boys" may be added soon also. Of course, given that the game is this Saturday, I guess it stands to reason it would have to be "soon," huh?
PatriotofMaine
OK...got Devin Conwell in.
jwest
I'm a bit confused here... if this is a D2 and D3 game, then why are there 1AA players on the roster too? (Nevermind... I just went to the website http://www.footballfoundation.com/news.php?id=735 and saw that they also invite 1AA and NAIA players.)

Has there been any discussion of the criteria for the selections? I'm not really up on the D2 and D3 guys, but I know enough 1AA to know there are a lot of quality players missing.

As for our guys, what about Darrell Adams? Also, I know Squirrel is working on getting an interview with a serious sleeper candidate at WR, Monmouth's Miles Austin. He seems like another guy who would be a great candidate.

Steve, if you talk to anyone involved with the game, could you see if they'll have game tape that they could send us?
PatriotofMaine
They just started adding IAA guys this year.

Darrell Adams was asked but declined.

I'm sure I can get the tape and will do so.

Thanks... I'd definitely love a copy of the tape if you can get more than one (or make a copy once you get hold of it - you can take whatever it costs out of my fantasy winnings - like anyone is going to catch me this year, HA!)
PatriotofMaine
No problem, Jeff. Will do.
PatriotofMaine
Devin and Allante are both listed on their updated roster this morning. Cool...

Jeff, the only criteria I am ascertaining is if a guy is good and his team wasn't and is not in the playoffs this weekend.

Got any more IAA suggestions?

You could certainly have Dave call me or the committee. I could help get Austin in. They are desperate for quality wideouts. We even tried brining in Huggins or Richard from way out west....

For 1-AA, there are a couple really good WRs up at Hofstra (Marques Colston and Devale Ellis). JJ Outlaw (although if Darrell Adams was contacted, I have to believe that they invited Outlaw too).

Do you know if Nick Hartigan (Brown RB) still has a season ahead of him? I know Brown did really well in the Ivy this year, but don't know if they have any playoffs.

On defense, Jay McCareins (Princeton) had 9 INTs this season (and is the little bro of NFLer Justin). Maybe Brian Hulea of Villanova (though see comment above). John Mulhern (LB at Delaware).

(Sorry for the A-10 and Ivy bias - they're the local teams for me.)

--It would have been nice to know about this game earlier. I think we could have really helped with the selection. Have you discussed the Long-Rice Bowl concept with them at all?

OK!!!

We got J.J. Richard in also! He is flying out tomorrow.

Jeff,

I talked to Jeremy about the Hofstra WRs and J.J. Outlaw. He's going to call and see if he can get any of those WRs, and also ask about Brian Hulea.

If we can get the WR that Dave wants to work with cranking today, we can probably still get him in, but we'll have to move fast. Is Dave right in your office? Should I call him?
jwest
Dave and I work for different companies, so no, he isn't in the same office. But I emailed him to let him know.

I don't have much of Miles' info, but I found his home phone number (I would imagine he is there now or will be soon). I'll PM that number to you.
PatriotofMaine
OK, thanks Jeff. Dave and I are on it.

Also, Wyatt promised to take his digital camera and get a picture of the four CDS guys all together for our homepage.

They are also all talking together on the phone already about the game....
DaveJ
Played phone tag with Miles Austin but apparently the East Coast Bowl can still squeeze in another WR if I get a hold of him and he's interested.
PatriotofMaine
Man, that would be a great opportunity for him!! Thanks to our efforts here at CDS, and Jeremy's willingness to work with us and work hard to bring these guys into the fold, that is a considerably more high-profile game now than it was just a few days ago.
PatriotofMaine
Here's the updated roster. All three of our defensive guys are now listed on the North squad together...COOL!!

Just a quick update for you. I just spoke to Devin Conwell on his cell. They were lining up as we spoke to run their 40s at the ECB mini-combine. Devin will not be running his right now because of a mild ankle sprain. He has met Allante and Wyatt and says they are really good guys. Wyatt was running as we spoke.

More later, as I have calls into all 4 of our guys and hope to hear back from one or more of them throughout the day.
jwest
Great! Be sure to ask them to let us know if there are any players there that really stand out to them and could play at the next level. I'd love to get some early combine results! wink.gif
PatriotofMaine
Will do...Jeffaroo!
PatriotofMaine
Talked to Wyatt this morning. He was unable to get all four guys together for a photo and he was pretty ticked off when I reached him at the airport because they wouldn't let him board because he arrived twenty minutes early instead of 30 minutes early and he will be in airports or in the air until 9PM this evening now.

On the positive side, he got to be good friends with Allante Harriosn, ran a 4.71 on a horribly chewed-up grass field in 30-degree weather (2nd best time of all the players there that ran...) had 10-11 total tackles, 2 TFLs and a sack.

I also reached JJ Richard who was there with his parents the past three days. He said it was a very positive experience for them all (though the bowl game was "somewhat disorganized.") He had just two catches for 30 yards because the QB had his own receiver from his school in the game with him, and he kept going to him instead. He said his hammy behaved fine. He did not run.

I have calls in to Devin and Allante also, and to Jeremy Toombs of the ECB for the game film. I will put highlights (from our perspective) of the game on the site when I can. I will also report more (including official stats if/when they become vailable) soon.
jwest
I was reading the Great Blue North Draft Report yesterday for some news updates and saw they had a link called "All Star Game Central". I checked it out and noticed that the East Coast Bowl wasn't listed. So, I emailed Colin Lindsey and let him know that the game occurred and gave him the link to the Bowl's website.

I didn't know that we'd get some pub out of it (http://www.gbnreport.com/ - Nov. 29th) but we did. In hindsight, I probably should have talked up a few of our player/posters.
PatriotofMaine
That's cool, Jeff. Thanks. I'll be checking that out shortly.

I also spoke to Jeremy Toombs this morning and he said there were 4,000 fans and the following team scouts there: Skins, Eagles, Texans, Colts, Jets, Rams, Falcons and Vikings, plus Calgary of the CFL.

He said that our guys defintely upgraded the quality of the roster, especially considering the guys they lost at the last minute that we were able to replace with our four STUDS.

Stats for the game will be posted shortly on their website.

Allante got a pick but did not return it for a TD. It was a nice tip-toe sideline job though that really got everyone's attention.

I'll have the game tapes--and highlights on our site--fairly soon too.
PatriotofMaine
OK...I finally got the game tape for this one and just finished reviewing it.

There were a few other players in this game that may deserve some more
work. Dave and Greg...help me see if these guys are covered, OK?:

Chris Roncketti QB, 6'0", 195, Methodist (DIII)

Thanks Greg. Looks like you've got just Chris Roncketti, and lucky me...I get the rest except Chuck Jones (Dave).
DaveJ
I'm on it!
PatriotofMaine
Ok...I got the highlights loading to Google file share.

Actually, it is practically every offensive play run by the South squad (of which J.J. Richard was a part) against the North defense (of Wyatt Gayer, Allante Harrison, and Devin Conwell.)

It's 263 MB, so it should only take me about a week to upload it with my dialup internet, and then a few days for Google to approve it, and we'll be all set....lol.
DaveJ
That's great, Steve! I look forward to watching it.
jwest
263 MB to upload? That's about 10 minutes with a cable connection. smile.gif Thanks for doing this Steve... we're all looking forward to it.
PatriotofMaine
Thanks guys...should be fum watching. I know I've enjoyed it. 6.7 MB are already uploaded!! Only 256.7 MB to go!
PatriotofMaine
46.2 MB uploaded as of this morning...

This really IS a drag. It keeps bombing out and I have to reset it. I was hoping to wake up with another 50MB done or so, and I got only 3MB before it bombed out.
bredden
Steve,

At least you're ahead of me. I don't have my copy to watch yet.

Gosh, you should have it, Brian. Mine showed up on Saturday and it had to cross the Alleghenies and Adirondacks by pack mule all the way to Bangor, and then by carrier pigeon from Bangor to here...
PatriotofMaine
87.4 MB up...we're gaining ever so slowly.
PatriotofMaine
133.4 MB....
DaveJ
According to my calculations, we're halfway there! biggrin.gif
PatriotofMaine
155.6 MB!
PatriotofMaine
SUCCESS!!!

Now we wait for Google....
