What a show! (And that was just halftime!) The two teams put on a very nice offensive display. Grambling just had a bit too much offense with Bruce Eugene leading the way and their defense made just enough stops to keep Southern from really challenging. Kudos to Southern's Junior QB, JC Lewis, who should get a courage award for the beating he took and the way he kept fighting back.

Others to watch:
Gerard Landry (Soph WR) - He's going to be a serious prospect for the NFL as soon as next season. He's got great size and is a very physical receiver. He has excellent hands, is athletic, and really uses his body well. He had 10 receptions against GSU and was clearly the go-to guy on offense.
James Vernon (Senior WR) - A borderline prospect at this point. He has fantastic speed which was evident on a 85-yard punt return when he ran away from everyone. He slips tackles to gain additional yards after the catch. Very solid hands.

PROSPECTS:
Bruce Eugene #10 601.0 260 4.8 QB 2006 - Eugene was the star of the game, throwing for more than 400 yards with 6 TD passes, 63 rushing yards and a rushing TD. Sure, he has his flaws (height, weight, delivery, level of competition), but beyond that, he's amazing. He calls many of his own plays, including nearly all of them on the final scoring drive that sealed the game. He reads a defense very well, can make all the throws, and is a tremendous leader. He's able to improvise and runs the ball very well for his size. (VERY POSITIVE)
Ab Kuuan #32 510.5 228 4.54 HB 2006 - What a powerhouse. He's a very good inside runner who really only had trouble when he ran east-west instead of north-south. He has enough speed, though he lacks that extra gear to take it to the house. An excellent burst inside and power to get through sloppy tackles. Also a very solid blocker on passing downs. (POSITIVE)
Ruben Mayes #40 602.0 245 N/A FB 2007 - A powerful blocker who also showed some ability to run and catch (one catch for the game-clinching TD). Should be a good prospect for the 2007 NFL Draft. (POSITIVE)
Jason Hatcher #90 606.0 280 4.75 DE 2006 - An outstanding physical specimen with good speed and quickness and decent strength, Hatcher was nearly impossible to block with a single man. He got consistent pressure on the QB all night and laid a few hard hits on him as well. Had eight tackles (3 TFL) and a couple sacks. He also added 3 QBH. He was solid against the run, showing well at the point of attack and also pursuing down the line. He's a real sleeper who could be a great value pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. (VERY POSITIVE)
Others to watch:
Dmitri Carr (Senior MLB) - I thought Carr played very well. He was very active and showed good athleticism and speed to accompany his size. He finished with 8 tackles (2.5 TFL) and a sack.
