This was a rather dull game, with neither team seemingly bringing their "A game" for much of the contest. UConn gave it a decent shot, but simply did not have the horses in the trenches to get it done.

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Louisville Conference: Big East Columnist: Steve Martin
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Michael Bush 19 602.7 250 4.60 HB 2007: Michael is back from injury and was the star of the game. He makes everything look so effortless. He is a man among boys at the collegiate level, and if he comes out he should be in the 2nd round at worst. He has really refined his game (after being a QB in HS and his first year or two at Louisville) catches the ball and has the frame to develop into a great blocker as well. POSITIVE

Brandon Johnson 97 604.5 218 4.65 LB 2006: 2nd-leading tackler tonight. No big hits, but he has made himself into a very solid day two WILL candidate. Still doesn't deliver knockouts, but he needs to get in an NFL weightroom, and he could take care of that too. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE

Elvis Dumervil 58 511.7 256 4.65 DE 2006: Elvis has basically disappeared the last two games. He looks worn out. I guess you might expect that after a long season of being double and tripple-teamed, but he was totally AWOL in this one...no sacks, no TFLs. SLIGHTLY NEGATIVE

Joshua Tinch 9 603.0 223 4.60 WR 2006: Josh continued the 2nd-half of the season trend of being THE guy in the Louisivlee passing attack. 5 big catches, and some with DBs draped on him. A solid mid-rounder. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE

Travis Leffew 78 603.5 301 5.20 OT 2006: Another yeoman-like day on the farm for Travis. Never flashy, never burned badly. NEUTRAL

Montavious Stanley 92 602.5 315 5.10 NT 2006: Monavious had an average day for him. He was not chasing like he was early in the season, but still got in the backfield a few times and provided good push. No memorable moments though. NEUTRAL

College: Connecticut Conference: Big East Columnist: Steve Martin
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Shawn Mayne 40 603.0 243 4.73 DE 2007: Shawn has taken himself pretty much out of the draft mix with a ho-hum senior year, but he did make a couple nice plays in the second half and had an important FR. NEUTRAL

Jason Williams 80 600.0 177 4.50 WR 2006: Jason had a couple catches and a 12-yard TD catch early on, but was shutdown in the second half. I'd like to see what this guy could do in an offense with a top-notch QB, but it ain't going to happen and his measurables just don't leap out enough at you for him to be drafted before the 7th, if at all. SLIGHTLY NEGATIVE

Cornell Brockington 33 600.0 192 4.53 HB 2007: DNP

Deon Anderson 0.0 N/A TE 2006: Who? (rhetorical...I know who he is, really) How'd he get in the database? Not a player worth considering.

Hey Steve... I read in an article that Kiper has Jason Spitz ranked #2 amongst OGs (behind Sims and just ahead of Jean-Gilles).

Any thoughts on this?
PatriotofMaine
OG is the hardest position for me to evaluate with great confidence. I have never been overly impressed with Spitz at all, however. That having been said, maybe he knows something we don't, but I would not shake the world just because Mel says "boo."
jwest
I really put no credence in much that Kiper says. I NEVER even visit his site. I just happened to be reading an article about Max Jean-Gilles and it mentioned that he was ranked 3rd among OGs by Kiper. I was a bit surprised by that and then read on to notice that Spitz was ranked #2. Not that Spitz isn't as impressive as Kiper might believe (I personally haven't scouted him at all), but the fact that he has him ranked ahead of MJG and we don't even have him in the database... might be worth a little research and scouting.

Yea...I'll get a writeup in today.

I LOVED Mike Bush and believe he has a chance to be as good or better than the
Natrone Bomb.

And Mario Urrutia looked really good, does anyone know of a 40 time for him. unsure.gif

Another draft website has a 4.52 posted for him -- they don't tell where that came from though.
