1. Texans #1 Reggie Bush RB USC. RB Domanick Davis fell below expectations in 2005, gaining only 976 rush yards and two rush TDs along with 337 receiving yards and four receiving TDs. much more was expected from Davis. He only played in 11 games and had a knee problem which required arthroscopic surgery. The Houston Texans are reportedly looking to trade the first overall pick in the draft, and the New York Jets are reportedly looking to move into that No. 1 slot. As word has it, the Jets covet Southern California QB Matt Leinart. The Jets are also reportedly looking to deal DE John Abraham, the team's franchise player, which would pose a scenario for the Texans to gain a much needed pass-rusher on the end of the line. Furthermore, Abraham is widely known to be unhappy with the Jets and feels he has overstayed his welcome in the city.
2. Saints #2 Matt Leinart QB USC if the jets trade happens look for bush to go here. Duces knee is a concern. look for then to take qb in 2nd round Charlie Whitehurst or Brodie Croyle.
3. Titans #3 Jay Cutler QB Vanderbilt. Norm chow has said he will not change his entire offense for 1 player .The Titans are worried that Young has taken as few as eight snaps a season from under center. Norm Chow also has serious reservations about Young's ability to run his system. Norm Chow has only talked to 2 players Leinart and Cutler. 4. Jets #4 D’Brickashaw Ferguson T Virginia. This is who I think Houston wants. They get him and some extra picks or Jets players. If the jets do end up picking here it will be Haloti Ngata DT Oregon. The apple don't fall far from the tree. Look for Mangini to do as his mentor Belichick did .D-line IE first round picks Wolfolk,Warren and Seymour.look at there line after John Abraham is gone Shaun Ellis cant do it alone on the line.
5. Packers #5 Vernon Davis TE Maryland. 1 His 4.38 can stretch the field .2 his a great blocker that can help shore up a poor line when needed 3 His pass catching and blocking skills will help keep Aaron Rodgers alive and standing now that Farve is gone. [Favre, who strongly suggested in late January he was ready to retire.] 6, 49ers #6 Mario Williams DE North Carolina St. The 49ers figure to be in the market for linebackers this off-season, starting with their own. The club did not place the franchise tag on linebacker Julian Peterson, meaning he will hit the open market. Derek Smith, Andre Carter and Brandon Moore are slated to become unrestricted free agents. Smith, the team's leading tackler, appears to be the club's top priority. Whether it comes from a defensive end or an outside linebacker, the 49ers need a player who can put hits on opposing quarterbacks.Pass rusher is what they need to take pressure off the secondery. [49ers Waived CB Ahmed Plummer.]
7. Raiders #7 Vince Young QB Texas. Al Davis enough said.
8. Bills #8 Haloti ngata . Buffalo fell from seventh to 31st in the rankings last season in stopping the run. DT Sam Adams needs 340 lbs of help. GM Marv Levy, coach **** Jauron and his staff are focusing much of their attention on offensive and defensive linemen,The Bills defensive line stinks, having lost DT Pat Williams in free agency a year ago. Defensive tackles tend to make an impact sooner. a guy like Brodrick Bunkley may go here but hes not much of a run stuffer. The bills have to plug the gaping holes in there line.
9. Lions #9 Santonio Holmes WR Ohio St. JUST KIDDINIG:- A.J.Hawk OLB Ohio St. they finally replace Chris Spielman. Alot of people have him going higher but he falls to the 9th spot. Why? Like linebackers Shawne Merriman drafted #12,Derrick Johnson #15,Kevin Burnett #42, Lofa Tatupu #45 and Odell Thurman at #48 in the 2005 draft. Teams picking ahead have more pressing needs its not just about talent but needs and talent.
10. Cardinals #10 LenDale White RB USC.The Cardinals finished last in the league in rushing and sucked in short-yardage and red-zone situations - where they scored touchdowns just 28.3 percent of the time, second-worst in the league - with Marcel Shipp, a veteran who can't get outside, and rookie J.J. Arrington, a second-round pick who played like 7th round pick. A big back with speed like Lendale White would be a good fit. Due to so much speculation of the Arizona Cardinals reportedly wanting Southern California RB LenDale White, he has received the nickname of "GlenDale" White. Glendale, Ariz. is the site of the Cardinals' new stadium in the works.
11. Rams #11 Chad Greenway OLB Iowa. The future of linebackers Chris Claiborne and Dexter Coakley are in question. The Rams still need a force at middle linebacker, something they haven't had since London Fletcher left in 2002.Even if Archuleta is re-signed, the back line still needs to be upgraded with better tackling. Maybe they draft Michael Huff the safety out of texas.
12. Browns #12 Gabe Watson, DT, Michigan. Crennel needs the wide body to run his defense effectively, and reaches a bit for one. The Browns poor run defense in 2005 started with nose tackle Jason Fisk. He was a backup in San Diego in 2004 and the Browns made him a starter out of necessity. Finding a nose tackle in free agency or the draft has to be Phil Savage's No. 1 goal. Ron Edwards of the Buffalo Bills is a possibility. The Browns draft 12th, so unless they move up they are unlikely to be in position to select Haloti Ngata. 350 pounds of beef with his quickness is hard to find an nfl training program should solve his stamina problems, so the browns would hope.
13. Ravens #13 Mathias Kiwanuka DE Boston College. There is a chance the Ravens could lose two starters in end Tony Weaver and nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu. The Ravens don't have backups who can replace them, which means they have to bring in a couple of linemen. The big void on the defense is an explosive pass rusher in the middle.
14. Eagles #14 Bobby Carpenter ILB Ohio St. Bobby Carpenter (leg) said he weighed 256 pounds and measured 6-2 1/2 at the combine. He said he is almost fully recovered from his broken right fibula and should be able to workout fully at his Pro Day. Carpenter said he has met with about 12 teams but did not disclose any of them.Rumor has it 1 of the teams was the Eagles. Strongside linebacker: Dhani Jones was a disappointment at this position last season. He had trouble getting off blocks and made too few plays. Carpenter at stongside Jones to the weakside.
15. Falcons #15 Michael Huff SS Texas. The plan at safety is to sign a respected veteran like Tank Williams and let him show the high draft pick how to hit viciously and play the game correctly. if Huff is gone, look for Southern Cal's Darnell Bing to fit the role just as well.
16. Dolphins #16 Tye Hill CB Clemson. Sam Madison is a goner and the Dolphins can't count on Will Poole after he missed all last season with a knee injury. No QB until the later ROUNDS maybe the 3rd. Second pick as well as this 1 may be a linebacker.Junior Seau's days with the Dolphins will soon be ending and Zach Thomas 10 years in the league isn't getting any younger.
17. Vikings #17 Manny Lawson DE North Carolina State. 6-5, 241 pounds, projects to be too small to play defensive end in the pro ranks, leading to many draft analysts suggesting he make the move to outside linebacker. The Tampa Bay-style Cover-2 defense that will be introduced by new coordinator Mike Tomlin means the Vikings could let free agents Sam Cowart and Keith Newman walk. Cowart provided a stabilizing influence at middle linebacker this season but the Vikings could be looking for more speed at that spot. BOY OH BOY he has speed 4.43
18. Cowboys #18 Winston Justice T USC. This position was the team's Achilles' heel in 2005 Winston was ineligible for 2004 spring practice and the 2004 season because of a student conduct violation. exhibition of a replica firearm was the reason Jerry Jones likes guys who carry weapons fake or real ask Barry Switzer. [The Dallas Cowboys' personnel and legal troubles grew Monday as security guards arrested coach Barry Switzer for carrying a loaded revolver in his carry-on bag at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.]
19. Chargers #19 Nick Mangold C/G Ohio St. Despite finishing in the top 10 of every critical rushing category, the Chargers thought so little of their line play that they fired offensive line coach Carl Mauck with one year left on his contract. A great fit here might be Saints center LeCharles Bentley, a free agent with ties to new line coach Jack Henry; Henry was with the Saints last year.If Bently becomes a charger then look for Chad Jackson to go here.
20. Chiefs #20 Antonio Cromartie CB Florida State measured in at height of 6-foot-2 1/2 and a weight of 208 pounds. He has been working out in Atlanta with Infinity Sports and his trainer Malcolm Williams. He has been medically cleared to participate in the entire workout. Kansas City had to play Dexter McCleon or Dwayne Washington last year that is a bad thing.
21. Patriots #21 Tamba Hali DE Penn St. Willie McGinest is heading into his 13 year. running backs DeAngelo Williams,Joseph Addai,Brian Calhoun or Laurence Maroney wont go here. Greg Blue or Darnell Bing could though and so could Notre Dame WR Maurice Stovall, 6-4, 217 pounds, feels he would fit the New England Patriots' offensive scheme the best of any NFL team. Stovall said he interviewed with the team Friday, Feb. 24. Keep in mind former New England offensive coordinator Charlie Weis was Stovall's head coach during 2005 with the South Bend, Ind.-based Fighting Irish.
22. Broncos(Wsh) #22 University of California-Los Angeles TE Marcedes Lewis. The former Bruin standout won the 2005 Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end by catching 32 passes for 402 yards and seven touchdowns.Terrell Owens has already met with Broncos officials. Even if Denver does or doesn't get Owens an upgrade is in order, especially for depth when it comes to plummers throwing targets.
23. Buccs #23.Jonathan Scott OT 6’7 310 Texas. The Bucs' best offensive lineman, tackle Kenyatta Walker, is an unrestricted free agent. The team also could improve its pass protection ask simms. Martin Nance might sneak in here too.
24. Bengals #24 Brodrick Bunkley; Noseguard who rewrote the FSU record books for a defensive lineman this season...started a career-high 13 games this season...recorded a school record 25 tackles for loss, giving him 37 for his career which ranks fourth in FSU. named a FWAA team first team All-American and a CNNSI.com first team All- American.named to ESPN.com first team All-Film team where they rank players based on game film and production. need i say more?
25. Giants #25 Charles Gorden CB Knasas. The defense finished 27th in the league against the pass, surprising because of the presence of a pair of Pro Bowl defensive ends, Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora. So the secondary will be under severe scrutiny as well as the LBs. With that said Ernie Sims OLB Florida St OR DeMeco Ryans OLB Alabama could go here.
26. Bears #26 Leonard Pope TE Georgia A big target would benefit young quarterbacks Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton, and there is more talent at this position in this year's draft than in any year in recent memory.
27. Panthers #27 DeAngelo Williams RB Memphis. Carolina hasn't had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2003, when they went to the Super Bowl. Foster is like a bull in a china store he cant help but break something. It's not records he breaks its' his own bones.Stephen Davis is expected to be released (and possibly later re-signed to league minimum .
28. Jaguars #28 D’Qwell Jackson LB Maryland. Aside from pure size, Jackson has it all. If he were 6’3 240, he would be every bit as hyped as A.J. Hawk of Ohio St and would be a Top 20 lock. Even with his lack of size, he is an excellent prospect. Size didn't stop Zach Thomas,Lofa Tatupu or dat Nguyen. Akin Ayodele will be an unrestricted free agent but the Jaguars will only sign him for the right price. They need a big time player at outside linebacker who can make big plays. Daryl Smith is just okay is at one outside spot but he's not a standout. If they could find a middle linebacker, they could move Mike Peterson outside.
29. Broncos #29 Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota. The Broncos have Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell. However, Mike Shanahan would prefer a back that can carry the ball a majority of the time instead of the committee he used last year. he tried ron dayne and Maurice Clarett but they both sucked.
30. Colts #30 Abdul Hodge ILB Iowa. With all three starting linebackers - David Thornton, Gary Brackett, and Cato June -- either unrestricted or restricted free agents along with top backup Rob Morris Backups Gilbert Gardner, Tyjuan Hagler and Keyon Whiteside have all battled injuries, which makes the possibility even more of a possibility.
31. Seahawks #31 Ernie Sims LB Florida State. The D-line is good but they lack speed at the out side. With Lofa Tatupu inside and Simms outside it only gets better for seattle's D.
32. Steelers #32 Matt Bernstein RB Wisconsin. With the retirement of Jerome Bettis, the Steelers need another big back to spell starter Willie Parker. Duce Staley is hurt too often and has a chronic sore knee and would leave them thin at a position they rely on to control the clock and the game. Bernstein of Wisconsin at 260 pounds ran his 40 in 4.89. He put up over 125 yards against a good Penn State defense. He's big and bad and has Bus like feet can play FB too.
