29) Rams

Are you serious? The Rams will be a much better improved team this year than last. First of all, Martz is gone, that is a positive sign when you think about the well-being and balance of the Rams. Linehan has already found the weak and strong points in this team and has fixed the weak ones. He has already hired a smart coaching staff, hired Jim Haslett as D coordinator, re-signed Isaac Bruce, signed DT La' Roi Glover, S Corey Chavous, MLB Will Witherspoon, and CB Fakhir Brown. With all those key acquisitions how can't the Rams be an awesome team? You add that with the one the best offenses in the league, and you got yourself a Super Bowl caliber team! Plus there is still an whole off-season to get better with his new installation of D- packages that will bring out the true talent in the Ram defensive players. I don't know about you but come football season, the Rams will be a deadly team. Don't ever tell me that they are only 29...because they are not. Plus if Marc Bulger stays healthy, he is easily a top 3 quarterback in the league. He led the league in passing almost every week until he got injured. Same story with Torry except in recieving yards. If the whole team can stay healthy,(you have to remember, their 2 starting cornerbacks were out almost the entire season, Marc Bulger was out for half the season, Holt and Bruce missed plenty of games, Orlando Pace and Alex Barron missed a few games, all in the '05 season) they can compete with the Seahawks for the division crown and very possibly further. The Rams do NOT get enough credit. This is their year to prove you all wrong, just watch....

Aw come on A.Davis. Are you serious? You think the Texans are the worst team? I know they are not the best. Shoot I know that realistically I can't put them in the top half. But I am insulted that you have them at the bottom of the list. They were major underachievers last year and the new coaching staff will get them in line.

They will be 7-9 to 9-7 next season. They won't be world beaters but they will be much improved.
adavis
Who and what do they have to think that they will be 9-7? They have no offensive line, a mediocre QB, a mediocre RB, a good WR who is fighting injuries, a weak defensive line, nothing at LB, and 2 good corners. From those guys right there and a wasted pick on Reggie Bush, you really think they will be 9-7 in a tough division and an even tougher AFC Conferece?

You guys are going to stop placing my 49ers at the very bottom of these list. We'll be much better than last year.

Yep. It's gonna happen. They are not as bad as they look. To add to it, I will do something very humiliating if they don't make it to at least 7 wins.

It's true. This is before the draft, of course, but I can't really see them making a dramatic improvement. They are either going to have a second year man as their QB or a rookie and their defense is below average at best. I think that as soon as they get stability at QB and build up that defense with some young talent that will be there for years to come, the Raiders are still going to be coming up short.

Plus, they are in the AFC West. The Broncos, Chargers, and Chiefs are all really good teams.

Everyone at this point thinks their team is a playoff contender. Wait until the end of free agency and the draft to say that.

That being said, for the 49ers to be a better team, Alex Smith needs to show atleast some improvement from last year. Drafting Vernon Davis from Maryland is a great start.

A new coaching staff that know what they are doing first off. Last yrs. coaching staff was a joke. Their o-line coach had no previous experience there and was trying to implement a system he was unfamiliar with. Mike Sherman has head coaching experience as well as O-line coaching experience. Also they will be adding Flannigan from the Packers. The line will definetely be there next yr. The QB is above average look at his numbers before this abismal season. Also he will be under the tutelage of Kubiak the same guy that guided Steve Young and John Elway to superbowls. More recently he worked with Plummer and we saw how much of a difference that made. The mediocre RB you mention will get help from a younger faster prospect that many have compared favorably to other great RB's. I don't know what is going on with the WR's yet, but they have Burleson coming in for a visit next week and if they sign him that will be a solid #2 receiver, also Putzier is coming in another passing threat. On defensive line they added Weaver a 6'3'' 280 pound run stuffer who was made for the 4-3 but had been used in the wrong scheme. The DT's are way above average and will wreak havoc along with the DE's. True they don't have a great LB core but that's what the draft is for. Also our division is greatly changing, the Colts lost their Edge and the other teams are not that far from our reach. Wait until after the draft and a more accurate projection can be made. Mark my words 9-7 is not out of the Texans reach.

So, you think Linehan is gonna be a good coach...eh? Well, he didn't do very well at Miami as O coordinator. The Dolfins were crap until Saban went to him and made him change the O. Once Saban began dictating how the O would be run, they did fine. All the Rams did was save Saban the embarrassment of having to fire him...which was the big rumor. And, I'd like to know what exactly did he do for the Vikes? Nothing, really. Anyone could call Culpeper to Moss 40% of the time, or more...even me. Reminds me of another over-rated O coordinator from the Vikes...Billick on the Ravens. His team did win a SB, but no thanks to his supposed "offensive genius." It was Marvin Lewis calling the D that made that team. The best thing the Rams did was hire Haslett. Linehan will be gone soon...he'll get a "free pass this year"...but by the end of the next year, or the next he'll be a goner...mark my words.

I did it after the period started like when Culpepper and Brees had new teams but before the T.O. signing. the Browns had some good FA signings but I still think they are a bottom of the league team, they need to figure out the QB situation and also need help at wideout as well as in the secoundary. they could jump to the middle of the pack, we'll see. I will post a new set of rankings after the draft

they aren't bad, more like middle of the pack, but until Vick learns to become a good passer I won't consider them a big threat. Vick has had his chances everyone has always defended him by saying he hasn't had enough talent or that he has a good winning percentage. well last year he had a pro bowl TE, a good running game, and two good WRs and what did he do?

They are going to be an awesome team. They came on really strong last year and I have a feeling that they keep continue their streak in the 06-07 season. Culpepper is one of the final pieces to the puzzle. I have heard a few rumors that Arrington will be headed to Miami, so watch out for this team. I know they are more than capable to contend with the aging Patriots for an AFC East crown.

Aging Patriots?

I hate to say it but NOBODY has stockpiled talent better in the draft than the Patriots over the last 3 years. To call them aging is a stretch. They are actively releasing their older players right now and creating spots for some their younger guys to compete. That is smart.

I'm predicting Daunte "TINY HANDS" Culpepper will struggle in Miami, mainly because of the humidity and his new found lack of mobility. Although I like Nick Saban I can't see the Dolphins as legit quite yet. Their secondary is unsettled too, and they over-payed for Will Allen.

you will be surprised than if you look at the numbers Culpepper has done great when he has a 100 yard rusher in a game. he didn't have a good running game to support him in Minn. Miami has Brown who is just waiting to explode for a 1500 yard season. he will finally have a good rushing attack and with Chambers and McMichael to throw to along with Booker and Brown he will be a pro bowler again
