The Teflon has finally worn off...Shanahan FIRED!!!

Now, I wonder if the rumors of the Broncos owner being afraid the Chiefs might somehow land Pioli are true...it's said Bowlen was afraid of both Parcells and Pioli ending up in KC and putting together a team much like they did in New England. It's said between those rumors, and the success of AJ Smith in San Diego, he was worried the Broncos could be relegated to the lower tier of the AFC West for years if left under Shanahan's guidance. Now, he himself may become a player in the Pioli/Parcells tournament...or even Cowher.

I'm rooting for Cowher, and I hope he keeps at least some of the offensive staff intact (i.e. -- Dennison and Turner). Would be hard to see our run scheme dismantled, but we need a defensive minded coach who emphasizes the run, like Shanny used to. I know it was hard this year with seven backs going to IR, but we didn't run it much even early in the season.

You know, I really like this kid's physical talents. Hopefully, he puts his problems behind him for good, and becomes something better than TO.

I'm pretty sure that Cowher isn't interested but I would like to see Bates and Rico (Dennison) kept also. My son has just gotten comfortable with Rico and really doesn't want to break in a new coach. Hopefully they can get some help with the defense and carry on with the "O"...

What do you have in mind as far as the scouting? I started a new position for my company so I'm working on the North Slope, where the pipeline originates (it was a balmy -74 F yesterday) so I have lots of time in front of the computer plus I have 2 weeks at home to do what I want so it may work better this time. The Bronco players were shocked..most of them heard about it on ESPN. Chris was on his way up here so I called him when he was in the airport. He is hoping they retain his line coach. Chris had 0 sacks and 2 penalties this season so we were surprised he didn't get at least a mention for the pro bowl but just like the rest of his career...under the radar. Dennison, Turner and Bates would be my choices to keep, also. Have a feeling Chris is going to make a Pro Bowl or three in his day. Too bad it won't be in Hawaii!
