UConn lost, yes. They lost by quite a bit, yes. But they did a fabulous job on RB Steve Slaton and were close until just before halftime despite just having kicked 5 players off their team for going on a beer run prior to last weekend's contest. Coach Randy Edsall's decision was well-received by the Huskies squad, and they played inspired defense throughout. Though Slaton was held pretty well in check, QB Pat White (perhaps the best running QB in college football) was not. The sophomore signal caller killed them with his legs, but he actually threw the ball pretty well too tonight--shades of Major Harris...

Jay Henry 42 6' 1.5" 225 4.73 LB 2007: Jay was constantly dropping into coverage in this one, and played a quiet game. He was not in on many plays at all, which is shocking for an MLB. GRADE: Slightly negative
Dan Mozes 76 6' 3.0" 295 5.10 C 2007: Dan just brings his lunchpail to every game and plays with his firm and fiery excellence. Really steered Fuller wherever he wanted him to go throughout, and pulled nicely. A rock in pass pro too. GRADE: Slightly positive
Kevin McLee 43 6' 0.5" 255 4.60 LB 2007: "Boo" gets the game ball tonight. He was all over the field. You would have thought he was the MLB in this one, not Henry. Continues to show great backside pursuit, backfield penetration, wrapup ability and inspiration. Picked off a pass to boot. GRADE: Positive
Eric Wicks 41 6' 0.5" 210 0.00 S 2007: Wicks played the best game I have seen from him in all the years I have been scouting the Big East. Really flew to the ball on running plays. Had a nice PD. Sacked the QB. A very solid all-around effort. GRADE: Positive
Jeremy Sheffey 65 6' 2.1" 290 0.00 OG 2007: Jeremy had a relatively easy game against an over-matched UConn front. He got to doubleteam Fuller with Mozes a lot. Still very impressed with this guy's pass pro footwork for a guard. Gets out and shows up quickly, surprise people, and they have no time to break his seal. GRADE: Positive
Brandon Myles 7 6' 2.0" 190 4.37 WR 2007: Only thrown to once officially, but he made a nice catch. He also had another catch called back. Really looks fluid. I don't know why he is being under-utilized at present. GRADE: Neutral
Owen Schmitt 35 6' 1.0" 250 4.60 FB 2008: Did the roadgrader thing, and the goalline-plunge-for-a-TD thing equally well. Didn't get that much action, but thoroughly maximized it. GRADE: Positive

Terry Caulley 44 5' 6.5" 185 0.00 HB 2007: Very fast, shifty back. Squirts through the smallest holes. Shows good hands. Deadly on swing and bubbles. Fumbled once. Did not find the endzone, but he was a marked man. GRADE: Slightly positive
Dan Murray 46 6' 4.5" 253 0.00 TE 2007: Dan was back from an injured ankle and looked really good, both as an in-line blocker and out in the mid-range area as a receiving target. Looks solid in all phases. Too much of a bounce-off run blocker though...GRADE: Slightly positive
Rhema Fuller 93 6' 1.0" 280 0.00 DT 2007: Made one really nice play at the goaline where he split the double team and slammed Slaton to the ground. Was in almost the whole game (because of the new lack of depth) and did OK considering who he was being doubled by. Seemed to (predictably) where down late. GRADE: Neutral
Deon Anderson 30 5' 10.5" 236 4.70 FB 2007: Deon does all three things well. He is a guy the scouts love because of his versatility. You could see it tonight. Comes up and slams into people when blocking. Runs to the edge like a tailback. Hits the middle hard. Catches cleanly. GRADE: Positive
