Both of these teams have some talent, more for next year perhaps than this. Both have JC transfer impact players, and also transfers from bigger name programs like LSU, E. MI, etc. This was a game until the 3rd quarter when JC-stud transfer LB Michael Johnson for the Lions of SE Louisiana went out with an aggravation of an earlier knee problem. He was matching mammoth Jr. RB Louie Runnels of SFA fairly well before that, but there was no one to slow down that moving train afterwards. The game was 14-10 SFA with 3:13 left in the 3rd, but SFA just steamrolled the Lions behind Runnels after that point.

Mike Johnson 5 5' 11.0" 242 4.66 LB 2008: Guy looks like a stud for next year's draft. Hits headon like you would expect a guy of his dimensions to hit you, runs very well laterally and to the sidelines. probably a liability in pass defense, but he can play ILB in a 3-4 for somebody IF he can get, AND STAY helathy. GRADE: Slightly positive
Donald Usry 65 6' 2.5" 310 5.40 C 2007: a wrokman like center who doesn't do much too excite, or much to hurt you. Loses focus on occassion and can be beaten with a quick stunt. One of the better linemen in the entire Southland conference. Has the frame you want for the position. Keeps his legs churning. Punches well and recoils in pass pro. Knee bender. GRADE: Neutral
College: Stephen F. Austin Conference: Southland Columnist: Steve Martin

Louie Runnels 31 5' 11.2" 250 4.58 HB 2008: A very impressive bowling ball runner. Breaks tackles like Hawaii's Nate Iloao. Looks like he has a better burst than a guy his size should. Really accelerates if he breaks the first wave, and drags tacklers along for the ride. Could be a top 5 big back for the '08 draft. Didn't catch. GRADE: Very positive
Danny Southall 7 6' 2.5" 214 4.65 QB 2008: Really just an athlete, who will definitely need to find a home elsewhere. Inaccurate as a passer and doesn't deliver a clean spiral. More dangerous with his legs than his arm. May have a home as a safety or receiver. GRADE: Neutral
Carlus Anders 28 5' 10.0" 190 4.50 CB 2007: Has some tools to work with. Aggressive tackler. Best DB on the team despite the bigger name transfers. Covers well also. Doesn't look like he'd match up well with the 6'3-6'4" receivers he might see at the next level. GRADE: slightly positive
Other notes: Jr. Eric Jackson is the best CB on the SELA roster, and may be a future sleeper. Keldrick Holman is a solid safety for SFA, and may make the database eventually (he's a senior). Jr. ROG Earl Cager for SELA is amazingly big (6'6", 370) but can't even get into his stance properly and has poor balance. NT Steven Smith (6'0", 300) for SELA has a shot to play in a minor league.
