The Ducks haven't beaten their rivals to their north 3 straight years in over 70 years. However, with Saturday's win they accomplished just that. Oregon handed Washington its 5th straight loss after the Dawgs started the year off 4-1. Despite hurt ribs and a sore ankle, Jonathan Steward led the Duck offense in this one, with 159 yards rushing and two touchdowns. On the other side, Washington just couldn't get any rush game going and therefore had to throw the ball in only QB Carl Bonnell's 4th career start. That proved to be too much for the Huskies, as Bonnell completed only 44% of his passes and had 1 INT. The Ducks travel to Los Angeles next weekend to take on the Torjans, in a Pac-10 showdown between the #2 and #3 teams in the conference.
Oregon PP's:
Dennis Dixon, QB, Oregon- This was performance out of him I have seen. He was consistently off the mark and tried to squeeze the ball into tight spaces too often. He really needs to work on throwing the ball inside the pocket. Finished 14 of 25 for 109 yards and 2 INT's. He ran the ball very effectively however, 7 times for 53 yards: C-
James Finley, WR, Oregon- Finley is a victim of just too much talent at the WR position at Oregon. He finished with no receptions, 1 run for 9 yards: D
Enoka Lucas, C, Oregon- Enoka looked early on a little less dominant than he had previously been. However, he picked it up finished with a great day. He did a nice job all day of sealing the back side for Stewart to run through. He also kept Dixon off the turf, with the Oregon O-line giving up only 2 sacks(while Leaf was in at QB), only the 6th and 7th sacks all season: B+
JD Nelson, S, Oregon- Registered 2 very early tackles, but finished the day with only 3 total, with one pass breakup. They seemed to go away from Nelson the rest of the day. He did a good job in coverage in all but one play, where his blown assignment led to a Washington touchdown: C+
Washington PP's:
Sean Douglas, P, Washinton- A very busy day for Douglas, punting 9 times with an average of 42.3 yards per punt. Two punts inside the 20 and two touchbakcs: B
Dashon Goldson, S, Washington- Does a nice job of getting to the ball, he needs to work on wrapping up however. A solid overall day with 5 solo tackles: C
CJ Wallace, S, Washington- Everytime I watch this guy, I like him more and more. He has great sideline to sideline speed and is in on nearly every tackle. Finished with 11 total tackles, 9 solo, 1 TFL, and 1 INT: A-
Isaiah Stanback, QB, Washinton- DNP
Sonny Shackelford, WR, Washington- Finished with 6 catches for 39 yards, including a spectacular 9 yard TD catch to tie the game at 7 apiece in the first. Hurt himself with a few dropped balls, one on 3rd down on the very first drive that set the tone the whole day for the Huskies: C+
Scott White, LB, Washington- Had a relatively quiet night with 3 tptal tackles, 2 solo. Takes a too wide of angles to the ballcarrier at time: C
