E-mail from Jeremy Toombs:

Terrence Lee called in yesterday and said he couldnt make it, Pettway supposedly got a senior bowl invite and Judd Altman who was reporting late due to death in family called and said he was not coming at all.

But other than that every thing is going well...okay scout turnout but had to move testing indoors bc its been raining down here for like 2 days...couldnt run 40 indoors but should be able to tomorrow outside...couple sleeper guys for you are WR Prince Prempeh from Marist and OL Patrick Murray from Truman State...Evan Prall tested really well also
PatriotofMaine
Just spoke with most of the guys that CDS helped bring to the game. All of them sounded upbeat and very happy to be there. They weren't able to run the 40s today outdoors because of the rain, but they all ran their 10s, 20s, ss, and 3-cone inside in addition to the bj and lj.

Most of the guys I spoke with didn't know their numbers.

I did pick up the following though:

Deshawn Baker was not able to run the drills as he is recuperating from a moderate thigh bruise he suffered in his last game this past Saturday. He and teammate Clyde Reed have also been invited to play in a all-star game of some type in Nigeria on the 23rd of next month.

Cliff Louis weighed in at 262 and they are looking at him as a possible TE. He was advised not to participate in the drills, as was also the case for Robin Gamble and Willie Byrd.

Evan Prall apparently wowed them with his performance. He didn't know his numbers, but they told him he had done very well.

Jimmy Riker trimmed down to 241 as he is going to be playing SAM after playing 4 years of DE at Valpo. He ran a 4.39 ss, 8'10" bj, 7.30 3-cone and a 27" vj.

Derrick Simmons sounded very pleased with how things were going. He only knew his vj came in at 34".

All the guys said there were lots of scouts there. Teams indentified were the Jets, Redskins, Steelers, Cardinals and Raiders, and, of course a slew of AFL and CFL people.

Tomorrow they will be practicing all day and may run the 40s outdoors if it's not too wet.

Thanks for the updates Steve!

Cliff was weighing at 262 wow ohmy.gif . Is he liking to the idea of playing TE.

Are the recorders not telling the players their measures or are they just not remembering?
PatriotofMaine
They aren't being told, but the pushier guys are asking and getting some of them, I guess.

Here's an excerpt from another late e-mail:

alot of real nice looking athletes...jasper johnson didnt do any of the running stuff but he had a 37 vertical and just shy of 10 on long jump..another sleeper Michael Radon of Missouri St..he was just under Jasper at 34.5 and was among leaders in most of testing elements. Prempeh has fastest 20 time at 2.78, Renard Stevens 2.88, Prall 2.89, Larson 2.89 (NAIA WR from Montana Western)

Taz Wallace just called to say the North won 26-24. Says he played all the special teams and all but 4 series at both ILB and OLB. Says he heard he had double figures in tackles.

I'll be calling a bunch of other guys tonight and tomorrow to see how they did.
martino_cappachino
That is great for Taz biggrin.gif . I can't wait to watch the game tape. 26-24, sounds like it could of been a nail-biter. Was there a large attendance?
PatriotofMaine
Spoke to all the guys we put in the game. All of them said it was a very positive experience and thanked us for helping them get noticed.

Dan Adams (Holy Cross, LB) and DeShawn Baker (So. Carolina St., HB) both were injured in the first half and did not return. Dan has a grade 2 ankle sprain, and Deshawn was in a lot of pain as he was driving home with the Clyde Reed. He is scheduled for an MRI but they think it's a torn meniscus in his knee. He had two carries for about 20 yards (he thought) prior to that. Dan had a tackle before being injured.

Mike Klobucher (Ferris St., LB) and Alex Buzbee (Georgetown, DE) sounded like they had very good games, and Jimmy Riker (Valpo, DE) was pleased with his performance at LB after having not played there since high school.

Robin Gamble and Cliff Louis both did well. Cliff was asked by the 49ers if he would mind switching to TE, and of course he didn't mind...These two guys were reportedly already on the lists of all the scouts who were there. Mike Klobucher and Deshawn Baker were the only other guys that were spoken to directly by NFL scouts, but Alex Buzbee was visited by a CFL team.

All of the detailed testing data, game story, game stats, etc. are now available in our "Insider Access" boards which comes as part of your $9.95 one-year upgrade.

Well worth it guys...there will be tons of stuff like this in the future too. Combine and pro day results, etc., etc.

The East Coast Bowl game DVD just showed up at my place (after 6+ weeks...lol). I am part way through scouting the backfields (offensive and defensive) and will watch it again tomorrow for the line play, and will offer some thoughts on the game in this thread ASAP.

"Our boys" certainly acquitted themselves well.

Any of you other mods got your copy, yet?

P.S. Don't forget to tape the Hula Bowl Sunday and the E-W Shrine Game next Saturday.
martino_cappachino
Haven't gotten mine yet wacko.gif .. I'm thinking maybe another week since you just got yours.
PatriotofMaine
OK. After scouting the game twice, these are the players from the game that I would assign draftable (6-7th round) grades to:

Madison Miller, OLB, Indiana State, 6'4", 235
Mike Klobucher, ILB, Ferris State, 6'1", 245
Jasper Johnson, S, Central Arkansas, 6'2", 220
Cliff Louis, OT, Morgan State, 6'8", 290
Alex Buzbee, DE, Goergetown, 6'3", 248

These guys should be 7th-UDFAs:

DeShawn Baker, RB, So. Carolina St., 6'0", 225
Josh Brehm, QB, Alma, 6'3", 225
Kevin Jones, LB, St. Augustine, 6'2", 210
Rashod Moulton, DB, Fort Valley St., 5'11", 200
Lance Johnson, WR, Catawba, 6'0", 196
Renard Stevens, WR, West Liberty, 6'5", 220
Marcus Jeffeson, DB, Albany St. (GA), 5'11, 187
Rashad Barksdale, S, U. of Albany, 6'1", 205
Taz Wallace, LB, Adrian, 6'2", 220
Clyde Reed, OT, So. Carolina St., 6'6", 310
Robin Gamble, DE, 6'5", 280
Willie Byrd, CB, 6'3", 197

Got my ECB DVD today. I watched a little bit of it, is there anybody you want opinions on specifically?
PatriotofMaine
No one in particular, Martin. Just see how your evaluation of guys jives (or not) with what I wrote up above your post.

TIA...
