The 33rd Bayou Classic marks the return of the Classic back to New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. I feel the outcome of the game was mostly decided by bad play-calling on GSU's part like punting on a 3rd down, before the 2nd half, out of a trick play formation, without your normal punter, and your team is ahead by a touchdown; the punt went for around 20 yards. It was good to see that former GSU QB, Bruce Eugene, is going somewhere in life; he is part of the Tiger's coaching staff.

College: Grambling State Conference: Southwest Athletic Columnist: Jeff Carnahan

Henry Tolbert 3 5' 11.0" 190 4.43 WR 2007: Why GSU and Landers did not throw more to their playmaker I will never know. The one catch I saw from him was good and he turned it up for 10 or so yards. Landers wanted to throw to #5 Clyde Edwards more. Grade: Inc.

Andre Bennett 79 6' 6.0" 350 0.00 OT 2007: The only listed GSU PP that I got to scout extensively. A large OT who plays ROT because of his lack of agility and poor footwork technique. One too many times I saw Bennett lunge to get an extra push only to see the guy make an inside move and chase the QB. His quickness also limits him on screens where once I saw him completely spun around on his belly only to get a hand on his man. Will be a UFDA and if the team his team is smart they will move him to ROG. As an OG he will benifit from less space to work with and he will be able to use his body more on counters or tosses where he can use his body very well. I should hope if becomes an OG that he will lose 10-15 pounds to gain an extra step. Grade: Neutral.

Donovan Davis 0' 0.0" 0 0.00 OG 2007: Did not see him play, he must be injured because the annoucers said something about having two inexperienced guards in the game. Grade: Inc.

Other Players to Watch:

Ab Kuuan 32 5'11'' 230 HB 2007: I'm not sure if he should be in the database or not. His stengths are his intuitive slippery-ness when breaking tackles (like Marshawn Lynch) and his hard nose determination that allows him to not go down easily when wrapped up. His weaknesses are his speed (probably around 4.6-4.7) and his decision making, he needs to decide when he has juked too many times whether it be two jukes for no gain or seven for -15 yards ohmy.gif . Ab's production is down this year due to the fact of having two Fr. OGs (FROGS lol) but he has what it takes to make it into a camp. Grade: Slightly Positive.

Other Players to Watch:

Bryant Lee 16 6'1.0'' 185 QB RS Fr: Bryant was the biggest factor that contributed to Southern's win. He threw for over 250 yards and ran for over 50 yards too. He may need to gain some weight, he looks like a skinny Wr, but he throws a pretty ball. Grade: Very Positive.

Gerard Landry 80 6'2.0'' 225 WR Jr: I'm not sure if he is 6-2 he looks much bigger. I like Landry alot; he has soft hands, can catch balls low and high, and has good run after the catch ability, they would often throw WR screens his way and he would turn it up for a good gain. His blocking is incredible too he can keep his hands in position and hold his block and can run with his guy as well. The only negative I saw to him was his speed. Grade: Positive.

Brian Washington 85 6'4.0'' 245 TE Sr: Makes plays over the middle and blocks well. Not much else to say except he's a threat in the endzone. Grade: Slightly Positive.

Kendall Addison 29 5'9.0'' 170 RB Jr: He's fast but trusts his speed too much when trying to get around the corner. I did not scout him too extensively. Grade: Neutral.

Nice writeup!

Kuuan should go in. Doesn't need a writeup, but he should definitely be in there. TIA...

I'd like to here Jeff's comments here.

I'm not the Jeff you were hoping to hear from, but I'll respond anyway since I followed Grambling quite closely last season (man-crushes on Bruce Eugene and Jason Hatcher). wink.gif

I really like Henry Tolbert. He's probably not going to measure 5'11" anywhere but in the Grambling Media Guide, but he's got speed, leadership qualities, and all the moxie in the world.

Ab Kuuan is another guy I liked a lot last year. He's hard-nosed for sure. I don't think he has a draftable grade, but he should get a look in a camp.
