This game was very sloppy and UConn could not establish any offense at all. Brian Brohm played great as expected and UL's offense looked very good. This team would be extremely scary if Micheal Bush wouldnt have went down early in the season with the leg injury. Either team showed any value for the football with Louisville having 3 turnovers and UConn having 2. This game we never very close and Louisville's offense was just to much at times. Louisville is a good team and deserved the BCS bid out of the Big East.

UConn's PP's

College: Connecticut Conference: Big East Columnist: Steve Martin

Terry Caulley 44 5' 6.5" 185 0.00 HB 2007: Non factor throughout the game. Donald Brown II got most the carries and went over 100 yds. Grade:D

Dan Murray 46 6' 4.5" 253 0.00 TE 2007: Had a big fumble after the catch. Not a great blocker and not blazing fast. Grade: C-

Rhema Fuller 93 6' 1.0" 280 0.00 DT 2007: Not a factor at all. Made a few tackles but no big plays. Grade: C

Deon Anderson 30 5' 10.5" 236 4.70 FB 2007: DNP

College: Louisville Conference: Big East Columnist: Steve Martin

Michael Bush 19 6' 2.7" 250 4.54 HB 2007: DNP (leg injury)

Brian Brohm 12 6' 3.5" 224 4.90 QB 2008: Had a great game throwing and making plays with feet. Has great vision and good pocket presence. What suprised me is the willingness to take big hits when throwing, shows a lot of courage. The major reason I feel he is the best QB in the nation is the touch he puts on the ball. He knows he doesnt have to drill it in there all the time, throws a catchable ball. Also buys time with great footwork. Grade: A

Amobi Okoye 91 6' 0.5" 317 5.20 DT 2007: Trimed down to 290 lbs according to announcers. Is extremely quick and has a great motor as all good d-lineman do. Grade: B

Brandon Sharp 35 5' 11.0" 190 0.00 S 2007: Made two tackles but plays were well downfield. Didnt make any huge plays. Grade: C

Abe Brown 43 6' 3.0" 240 4.69 LB 2007: Didn't look great in coverage. On a few play actions once he realized pass he looked lost and unsure of what zone he had. Grade: C-

William Gay 21 5' 10.6" 184 4.50 CB 2007: I was suprised at how much they blitzed William. He even lined up as a safety in certain situations. Looked very confident in coverage. Grade: B-

Art Carmody 18 5' 8.0" 181 5.00 K 2008: Named winner of the Lou Groza award for best collegiate place kicker. Was 2-3 on the day. Showed great accuracy on the two makes with both going right down the center and barely missed on the miss from 38 yds. Grade:B

Mario Urrutia 7 6' 5.3" 220 4.50 WR 2009: Had an up and down day. Made some big catches with a few YAC yards. What is going to make him a great receiver is that he attacks the football, instead of waiting for it to come to him. He also had a dropped TD and a drop that turned into a pick. He has great size and with time will be a 1st or 2nd rounder!!! Grade: B-

Wow, Amobi at 290? Now that I have got to see...that's downright scary. (I fixed the weight in the database, btw, Craig...thanks.)

Do you know whta the story was on Anderson? People think very highly of him, and he has a game invite for the LVAAC coming up.

Caulley is really disappearing of draft boards, huh?

You know i dont recall them saying why he wasnt playing. Steve, what do you think of Art Carmody? I dont think he has the leg to drop bombs from 50+ consistantly.
PatriotofMaine
Carmody is good, but not the best. I still don't understand the politics behind the Groza. For my money, you gotta go with Mason Crosby.

I don't think the Groza is about who has the strongest leg. Crosby missed 9 FGs this year (granted 3 were from 60+ and 4 were from 50+), but still... I thought it would have been Medlock, but I have no problem with Carmody (who did hit from 47 and 51 this year).

I understand he's good but when you see some kickers it looks like the ball explodes off their leg. He doesnt seem to have this type of leg. I also do not understand many of these college awards. I think some are based on poularity? Paul Posluzny winning the Bednarek? Was Blades in the running for this? Please tell me he was!!!
jwest
Yeah... the college awards are a mystery. If Poz can win the Bednarik as the best defensive player, then shouldn't he (by default) also win the Butkus award for the best LB (which went to Patrick Willis)?
PatriotofMaine
Yea, and H.B. Blades, Rufus Alxexander and Buster Davis could all very easily turn out to be better than either of those guys.
