I think the Vikes really need some help in their defensive secondary. I see that as being the #1 need. There are some really good corners available in this draft, so you might be able to wait until round 2 and still get a starter.

WR is also right up there as a need. I still hold out some hope for Williamson, but if he doesn't get it done in 2007, then I'd give up on him. If Dwayne Jarrett falls to the Vikes, they should grab him. He has the size that would complement Williamson well.

I believe a play-making WR should be priority number one this offseason for the Vikings. Ted Ginn Jr. or Dwayne Jarrett would be great.

Lamar Woodley, Ginn, Patrick Willis, Griffin, Leon Hall could all be plausible first round picks. We could be in the 8- 16 range. And that is a whole lotta mess.

Brad Childress, however, is a man that has spoken against getting first round wideouts, but how can you not this year.

This is the draft that will make or break the vikings for years to come.

The draft is somewhat deep and i feel we have two "first round talents" going into round 3.

According to the Vikings owner Ziggy Wilf, the Vikings will likely be looking to add to their WR core early in the draft. Perhaps as early as round one. Wilf also said he plans to increase his role with the team when it comes to making player and personnel decisions.

Rick Spielman has not downplayed the possibility of moving up a couple of spots to grab a player who may have slipped a couple of spots. He said that there is always a chance of the Vikings moving up to 5th or 6th spot if there is a "cant miss" type of player available.

In all likelihood, the Vikings would only trade up to take a player such as Calvin Johnson or Joe Thomas, both player who would fill major weaknesses. Gaines Adams would also be a player whom the Vikings may covet come draft day.

In terms of sure needs for Minnesota, WR is by far their biggest weakness. Follow that with DE, OL, and TE.

Getting a young TE that can stretch the field would do wonders for a pass offense that struggles getting separation. Look for the Vikings to address this issue either through free agency or in the draft.

DB is not as big of a need as it may seem. Minnesota has solid depth and a lot of young, developing talent on the roster. Even if Fred Smoot is dumped this offseason, there is plenty of talent to take over. A FS could be drafted in the later rounds to eventually take over for Dwight Smith. Greg Blue seems to be a good replacement for Darren Sharper in the long run.

A good, deep draft such as this one can fix a lot of the holes the Vikings have. Look for them to address many of them through the '07 Draft.

What's the latest from Minnesota? Ginn? Jarrett? DE? Trade up for Calvin Johnson?

I'd prefer a trade up, I don't want Ginn and Jarrett is too high. We'll most likely take a DE, someone like Gaines Adams.

yeah... i'd like to see us trade up for Johnson but i don't think Chili is into that. I believe we'll take a DE w/ the first & if both are taken by 6 i think Chili will trade down w/ a team that covets Quinn or Landry.
my Vikes priority list goes WR, DE, OT/G, DB...
that could change as free agency continues.

yeah... i didn't add TE as a need b/c of the signing of Shiancoe and the fact that we have several under contract.

i do think that they need to address DE & WR in the first two rounds...
Vikeswookie
sorry about the DP...

my question is who'd we take if a worst case scenario happened.
if Russell, CJ, AP, Thomas, Adams & Anderson are all off the board... then what?
Vikeswookie
Roll Call... where are all the Vikings fans?

I think one of those is sure to be there if not then Brady Quinn. Landry is another pick who would be a good fit and great value. I think the board will probably have CJ at the top, followed by Adams, Russell and Quinn, Peterson, Landry, Anderson, and then Ginn. There you have 8 choices and the Vikes pick 7th. There is sure to be at least one available, probly 2 or 3
Vikeswookie
my new needs order is...
WR,LB,DE,CB,OT/G

my multiple round mock is posted. i think Willis would be ideal for us in the first w/ Jason Hill in the second. Obviously if Jarrett were to fall to 41 i'd pick him but unlikely he'll still be there.
QuietStorm
Vikings need a lot of help. I don't understand some people thinking they should pick Peterson though. The could use help at LB, DL, CB and WR. Dwayne Jarrett is probably their best choice since Calvin won't fall to them.
Vikeswookie
An overall good draft for us I believe...
I thought they could've picked up Siler or Otto... Jarrett instead of Rice as well, but good nonetheless.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Vikings have agreed to terms with running back Adrian Peterson, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2007 draft.
