Wisconsin PK Taylor Mehlhaff nailed the longest FG of his career with a 52-yarder to give the Badgers the margin of victory in this one. Both defenses played very well, and Wisconsin especially impressed me with they way they held Arkansas's vaunted ground attack under control. Felix Jones still busted a long one, and so did McFadden--but they were few and far between.

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Arkansas Conference: Southeastern Columnist: Jeff West
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Zach Tubbs 69 6' 6.0" 360 5.50 OT 2007: A big load who is your classic collegiate ROT. Don't think he has a shot unless he is a lot stronger than he looks. Feet are questionable even for moving inside at the next level, but he played better than Ugoh. GRADE: neutral

Tony Ugoh 66 6' 5.0" 315 5.20 OT 2007: Tony was not playing very well at all in the first half, and then didn't play in the second. This hurts his draft grade some, as he was thought of by some as a potential first day guy. I don't know if he was playing hurt or what, but he sure looked like he was in the first half. GRADE: negative

Stephen Parker 74 6' 4.0" 314 5.25 OG 2007: Played the best of the Arkansas O-line prospects in this one. He is a solid guy--especially in the run game. Doesn't recoil as fast as you'd like in pass pro. Broke a great hole open for a McFadden run right up the middle early on. GRADE: Neutral

Keith Jackson 99 6' 0.0" 285 5.00 DT 2007: Keith, Jr. played a whale of a game--and the descriptor fits. He has got to be 300+. Anyway...He had a sack, a TFL, an interception, and was in on several other tackles. As solid as a pure nose as there is this side of Okoye. GRADE: Positive

Sam Olajubutu 24 5' 9.0" 225 4.60 LB 2007 Sam can't be at 100%. He was a virtual non-factor, and at his size you need to be consistently in on 10-12 tackles to get any notice at the next level. GRADE: negative

Marcus Monk 85 6' 6.0" 222 4.60 WR 2008: Marcus was totally held in check catching-wise in the first half, but what really wowed me was a great block he threw on a long TD down the sidelines by Felix Jones in the first quarter. In the second half he got the ball a couple of times, but also had a crucial DP late that could have given Arkansas a shot at the upset. GRADE: neutral

Peyton Hillis 22 6' 2.0" 238 4.70 FB 2008: DNP. Deep thigh bruise....And this REALLY hurt Arkansas today. Difference in the game, IMHO....

Jamaal Anderson 92 6' 6.0" 280 4.95 DE 2008: Jamaal continues to solidify his status as a potential first round pick. He had 3 sacks, 2 PBDs, a couple TFLs and was in on a few other tackles as well. Physically, he is exactly what you are looking for. UW's ROT handled him pretty well in the first quarter, and so he he started twisting inside on him after that and then began to beat him repeatedly. He absolutely abused a TE they asked to block him a couple of times.. GRADE: Very positive

Chris Houston 2 5' 11.0" 190 4.45 CB 2008: not a game to remember for Houston. He was beaten by Beckum and Jones a couple of times in the first half, but even in doing so you could see the athleticism. I don't think the game will hurt him much, because he shows so much in getting to plays (and sometimes losing) that other guys wouldn't even get to. He did have a oick and a PD in the first half. GRADE: neutral

College: Wisconsin Conference: Big 10 Columnist: Adam Davis
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Joe Thomas 72 6' 7.0" 313 4.95 OT 2007: No WOW stuff from Thomas today...just another day at the office. I was hoping he would be matched up against Anderson at least a couple times, but he never was. Not much to say that hasn't already been said several times before. GRADE: positive

Ken DeBauche 16 6' 1.0" 222 5.00 P 2008: Average day. Nothing noteworthy to report. GRADE: neutral

John Stocco 7 6' 2.0" 204 0.00 QB 2007: Looked like a draft pick in the first half, and like a waterboy in the second half. Did enough in the first to allow the UW defense to hold on to a 17-7 lead for the win. He is so hot and cold, and pretty much has always been that way. GRADE: negative

Mark Zalewski 41 6' 1.5" 232 4.65 LB 2007:Undisputed leader of the UW defense. He was very active today and was in on at least a dozen tackles. Scrapes and fills pretty well. Gets under the trash and makes the play. Tough and combative. I like his game...don't know if he has enough physical pizzazz to be drafted, but he deserves a look. Leader. GRADE: positive

Roderick Rogers 22 6' 2.0" 187 4.55 S 2007: Looked pretty good in the first half, but then tore and MCL an sat out the whole second half. His chances of being drafted weren't that good before the injury. They are 0 now. GRADE: unfair to grade.

Joe Stellmacher 16 6' 1.0" 218 4.62 S 2007: Lunchpail warrior. Hits hard and is in the right place at this level. All about speed for the next, and that is in question for sure. GRADE: neutral

I liked what I saw from Houston. On the passes he allowed, he was right there. That's my big knock on him, he has to learn to look back for the fooball. But is that skill that can be learned or is it insitinctual? An argument can be made on both sides but either was he's talented....

And Anderson's a beast...perfect body for the position. Tall, rangey, long, arms, both quick and powerful..he's the enitre package.

Only saw bits and chunks of the game..

-Felix Jones looked like a future star..

-Watching P.J. Hill was a little bit disappointing for me..

-Is Travis Beckum a WR or TE? He certainly looked like a WR on T.V. Listed as 6-4 and 219.

-Did you see any of Marcus Randle El in the game?

Hes a TE, but really plays like a WR. Hes in the mold of Anthony Mix from Auburn. Hes extremely impressive.

Just read that Peyton Hillis is considering declaring. I would have had him among the top couple FBs in the draft next year -- he's a great prospect. He's in a crowded backfield with McFadden and Jones, and has trouble finding the field even when healthy, so being injured for most of the season didn't help.
