Hey man, any shot we take WR in the first round?

I would say no right now. We really aren't into the evaluating processes yet, more just refining the information we have on players. We are also at the mercy of the teams picking ahead of us. Wide receiver is also a position that we feel we have good depth at right now with Isaac, Tory and Shaun.

What's up. I have been here about a week now and as you can tell by my name I am a huge Chiefs fan. I love this site. I am wondering about using sigs? Is it ok or do I need to check with someone first?

Looks like your thread here was hijacked a bit. Anyway, were you with the Rams before Tony Softli came? If so, how does his philosophy differ from the previous philosophies of the Rams scouting department?

I came with Tony from Carolina actually, so I can't really speak intelligently about the previous regime.

Do you feel Tony got a bum steer at Carolina by Marty Hurney, especially given his history? A Carolina scout I met last year (could've been you - what is your name?) spoke pretty highly of him and his style (and his technological approach to scouting).
Can you talk about his computer program at all? I understand it's still a work in progress.

That could be because I work out of my own region. I do not report to the "home office" like most full-time scouts do. I'm not paid on a salary, nor do I get the benefits that they do.

I don't really feel that Tony got a bad deal in Carolina, nor would I feel comfortable talking poorly of another organization. I know that I personally enjoyed my time working with the Panthers organization though.
The computer program is still a work in progress last I've heard. I can tell you that all scouts and organizations are starting to use more of a computer based scouting model that will allow you to input information and receive a "grade" on these specific traits. For example, and maybe the best one, is a player's height and weight. On a position specific grid, you can input a player's measurables and be given a grade that is pre-determined for that position.

Welcome to CDS, I hope your enjoying your stay

.
Anyways I was just curious, who are some of your favorite players in the upcoming draft? Is there anybody that you believe is very overrated?

After watching today's Senior Bowl workouts I've been very impressed with Ryan Harris (OT-Notre Dame), Tony Ugoh (OT-Arkansas), David Harris (LB-Michigan), Leon Hall (DB-Michigan), QB Drew Stanton (QB-Michigan State) and RB (Tony Hunt).

Everybody else seems to feel Ryan Harris has stunk up the joint. What are you seeing that they apprently aren't?
You know Hunt is a 4.65 guy, reportedly, right?

Ryan Harris has nice athleticism and good quick feet, but he's got no strength. He'd be pushed around by the likes of Robert Mathis (DE-Colts) at the next level. Plus he's so susceptible to the rip and swim moves. I think he'd be better off learning to run routes and catch the ball and become a big TE.
Hey RamsScout... in your career as a scout, who has been your best "find"?
RamsScout
Jan 25 2007, 10:24:21 PM
I'm not as worried about Ryan's feet, because I see him as a RT. His strength is not where it could be, but he's a smart player, a hard worker and has "all the tools".
My one real find.... that's a tough question. I could easily list the misses. When I was with Carolina I was a big voice in the support for Ricky Manning, Jr and Will Witherspoon.
Also, after seeing Hunt move here, I doubt he's as slow as a 4.65.

Jan 26 2007, 2:27:32 PM
Do you really feel that Harris has the size/strength to be a RT in the NFL? I've watched film on every game he has played the past two seasons, and I don't feel he is physically imposing enough to be a RT or athletic enough to be a LT. What are the "tools" you talk about that give you this much optimism?
RamsScout
Jan 27 2007, 4:54:15 PM
Watch his hands and his hips. I'm sitting in the box at the game right now waiting to see more of him. I like the way he rolls his hips when he's run blocking. He has quick feet, a very quick first step actually. He does need to get stronger, but most college players do. He is by no means ready to start in the NFL, but you look at his athleticism, intelligence and potential.
