I think the first thing they should do is let Ahman Green walk and pick up a running-back in the draft. If they don't trade up for Adrian Peterson or take Marshawn Lynch, they could go with a guy like Kenny Irons, Michael Bush, or Antonio Pittman in round two.
They could also use another young WR to pair with Jennings, and a run-stuffing DT for the middle of their defense. If they go DT in rd. 1, Quinn Pitcock might be a good choice.
I am also hearing that they aren't quite sold on Marquand Manuel at safety. Michael Griffin, LaRon Landry, or Reggie Nelson are who they'd look at if they choose to go S in round one. If they wait until later in the draft, some guys I like are Brandon Meriweather of Miami Fl., Michael Johnson of Arizona, and Josh Gattis of Wake Forest.

I think the packers need a safety to team with Nick Collins. The offense really need some weapons. Wide receiver, tight end, and running back are all needs. Bubba Franks is no longer a factor in the offense. Ahman Green is getting kinda old and he is also a free agent. Al Harris and Charles Woodson are a nice tandem, but they are starting to get old. I think the offensive line just needs to jell. Brady Poppinga played decent at the strong side linebacker position last year, but they may look for a replacement. They may look to add a defensive tackle to put beside of Ryan Pickett, but I think with Cullen Jenkins and Colin Cole we are looking pretty good.

Good stuff...
One question though- didn't they move Cullen Jenkins to DE?

Feb 3 2007, 11:24:32 AM
that makes sense i thought u prob didnt mean c jenkins I def think the defense is getting better even though some guys r getting a little older but I think the main concern in the draft should be getting weapons at wr, te, and rb now that favre is def coming back as he should. Also, i agree on def they should get another s to help out collins and maybe a cb later on. At lb i think there ok and i wonder if the could move hodge out to olb and have him playing with barnett and hawk?

Marquand Manuel was really that bad? Man, he played great in relief of Hamlin a year ago in Seattle... I wonder what happened...
OK, as it stands right now the list of needs I have for the Packers are...
HB- Green is older, less effective, and a free agent.
TE- Bubba Franks is really a non-factor.
DT- Pickett, Colin Cole, and Corey Williams are OK, but an upgrade is possible.
SS- Marquand Manuel has been a dissapointment.
WR- Greg Jennings, if he can stay healthy, will be an excellent player, but Driver is getting older and there isn't much else to be excited about.
CB- Woodson and Harris are getting older and they could use a solid nickel-back.
Anything I'm missing? Good stuff guys!

Donald Driver has failed his physical due to arm/shoulder issues from past injuries. They say they are not worried, but I can't help but think how this could hurt the Pack's offense should he go down from this during the year.

Packers 1-0
A magical win 16-13 over the Philadelphia Eagles with a Fg by Mason Crosby with 2 seconds left. Two fumbles on special teams by Phila helped the Pack win the first game of the year. Brett Favre ties John Elways record with most regular season wins at 148 and plans on breaking that on the road vs the G men next week.
What yall think of the Pack?
Go Pack!

I think the defense looked extraordinary. Brett Favre showed me (though it's still early) that he still has some magic left. Mason Crosby is going to be in the league for another 20 years if he so chooses, this kid is as good as advertised. AJ Hawk and Nick Barnett are one of the best 2-man LB tandems in the NFL. I wasn't impressed with the play of the interior defensive line. I was told that both those guys are good bull-rushers who can get to the QB. Though, I didn't see it from them.
Offensively the struggles continue. And as much as I love Brett Favre, it really is time for him to take a bow. I think Aaron Rodgers is ready (based on the preseason) to become the starter, and Favre just seems to be holding the offense back. There's an obvious lack of chemistry between himself and his receivers. I think they might not have the kind of trust in Favre that they need to. I didn't see any spectacular performences over the middle, and that usually means that the WR's don't want to get hung out to dry. Brett still has a laser, but something about his timing has lost a step. Brandon Jackson still didn't look as good as advertised. If the Packers want to solidify that offense by the end of the year, it'll have to be Favre to Franks...over and over again. Because I honestly think that's the only solid tandem they have going on offense.
Overall, like I said, I love that defense but I just don't see the offensive side of it. They might get lucky and snag 2 from Chicago this year, but against Minnesota and Detroit, I just don't think they have the offense to keep up with them.

I'm totally unconvinced. I watched the game thoroughly last night, and while I will admit that the referee's were a bit flag-happy, I still thought they played extremely sloppy football. Especially Atari Bigby who committed 4 penalties for over 60 yards in extremely important instances in the game. The running game finally did something (against the last ranked run D in the league), but I still don't see it bringing balance to the force...
I will say that (despite MNF's constant nut-hugging) Brett Favre looked like his former self. However, I wonder if that 37 year old arm can carry an entire team on it for 16 weeks without a running game?

Packfan,
Is S Tyrone Culver still on the team?? Is he not seeing PT or is he hurt??
packfan36450
Nov 5 2007, 7:38:48 PM
bwalk, culver is on injured reserve because of some shoulder injury, i forgot the details sorry. ya i liked culver from last year and hes a pretty big safety(over 6 foot if im not mistaken) and seems better than awful Bigbi. but i dont think culver will get the chance hear in GB since they already have nick collins and Aaron Rouse waiting in the wings. i think 3rd round out of VT.. and the pack make me so nervous. They play to the level of their opponent all the time with the exception of the NY game where they blew them out... Ryan Grant is a mystery out of ND..

I love this Packers D. They have 2 great corners in Al Harris and Charles Woodson, as well as 2 good pass rushers in KGB and Kampman. I think they need one of the many good RBs from this draft, like Hart, Rice, Choice, Slaton, Stewart, or Forsett. I also think they should consider drafting a QB in the middle rounds because I'm not a big fan of Rodgers.

He has played half a game. Know what he did in that time? He tore up his ACL and was out for the rest of the year.

I've never been a fan of Rodgers. There is a reason why he fell to 25th in the draft. He's not that good. Rodgers wasn't in the top 20 in passer rating, passing TDs, or passing yards in his junior year, the year that he came out. Before that year, he had done absolutely nothing.

Yeah, I wanted the Packers to pick Quinn as well, but knew they wouldnt bcause of Rodgers. I think the Packers are already solid at DT w/o Harrell. Pickett and Jolly are good, while they have a good young backup in Colin Cole.
