Supposedly this will also be broadcast by CSTV, so throw in a tape boys if you can get the game where you are at.

bcdrama
I'll check it out. wink.gif
jwest
I really wanted to see this one to get a look at Toby Korrodi and Jeff Smith at QB. Unfortunately I don't get CSTV with my cable package. sad.gif

I scrolled forward on the screen with Direct TV (and I have a ton of sports channels, including CSTV)--using the search terms "sports/football"--to the appropriate time slot on Friday night, and it is not listed. Hmmm...

The CSTV website says Fri., Feb. 2 @ 10:00 EST. Check for it then!
PatriotofMaine
That's weird. I found it there (Channel 610 on Direct-TV) but isn't El Paso on Mountain Time? That should be 9:00 PM in the East if it starts at 7:00 PM local time, right?
bredden
It starts 8 pm local and 10 pm East. Keep your eyes on Taurean Charles, Larry McSwain, and Keldrick Holman.
PatriotofMaine
Thanks Brian....I could have sworn they said it was 7:00 PM local, but I am just glad it is on.

I am definitely looking at those three, plus I am anxious to see:

Texas:
Robert Johnson
Toby Korrodi
Allen Barbre
Mike McFadden (at a new position)
Troy Collavo
Willie Gaston
Epsilon Williams
Vincent Marshall (I hear he will get the ball a lot compared to how he was snubbed totally at the Hula Bowl.)

Nation:
Justin Rascati
ALL FOUR RUNNING BACKS (especially Russell)
Dereck Faulkner
Tyler Ecker
Corey Davis
Patrick Murray
Marcus Thomas (HUGE game for him)
Louis Leonard
Cameron Siskowic
John Bowie
Marcus Hamilton

(It looks like a National white wash on the way, to me...)

Did anybody else catch the game last night?

Well attended!

I taped it, and have only watched the first quarter so far, but it definitely looks like scout's dream.

Thanks very much for the info, is there any way you could elaborate on some of the following players for me?

Justise Hairston
Jeff Smith
Maurice Price
Allen Barbre

I got to see Hairston and Smith in some of the other All-Star games, and they really impressed me. I've never seen Price play but he has amazing stats. Is he truly as fast as his "reported" 4.4? And I've heard only good things about Barbre, but I've never seen him play either.

Thanks
PatriotofMaine
I don't know what Price's speed is, but he looked plenty fast in the game. Breaks well, gets open and made nice catches.

Jeff Smith surprised me with his mobility. He actually did almost as much with his legs as he did with his arms. Definitely no statue back there despite his size.

Hairston just runs hard. Doesn't shake and bake. Gets to the hole and plows forward. Dropped a catchable flair pass in the flat though...

Barbre is just solid as a rock, and versatile. Looks like he might have a shot at ROT or either guard slot. Played LOT in the game, and played it fairly well, but I don't think his feet are elite. Looks like a guard to me. Really gets out on the second level and flattens people downfield.
PatriotofMaine
Ramonce Taylor may be thought of a s a speed demon, and from what the announcers said he impressed in the practice sessions, but in the game he was awful. He kept trying to circle back to break a big one. His dancing actually laid to a 25-yard loss on one carry, and he ended up with negative yardage for the game.

Gary Russell was even worse. Looked really fat and out of shape, and he had like 3 carries for 3 yards or something. No explosion to the hole at all.

Marcus Thomas looked out of shape, but he sure didn't play like it. He will go in the late second-mid third if he can prove that his maryjane days are behind him to scouts' satisfaction.
PatriotofMaine
Trey Lewis, a DT from DII Washburn also looked good (I'm going through the tape a second time now.) He had 3 tackles, 2 TFLs, a sack, and an important PD late in the game. 6'2.2", 295---just added his scouting report.

its really appreciated

Added profiles for the following guys who also played pretty well after a second review of the tape:

S Brandon Walden, Carson-Newman
LB Antwan Barnes, Florida International
OG Corey Davis, JMU
DE Xzavie Jackson, Missouri
LB Marcus Bacon, Missouri
DE Justin Rogers, SMU

I saw the box score and it looked like Cliff Dawson was pretty active (and successful?) as a return man. Any reason he didn't get any carries in the game? I'm surprised that he's not getting a chance to showcase his wares -- he's really a very good back that should be playing Sundays next fall.
PatriotofMaine
No, I do not remember them giving Dawson the ball once on offense. He looked very good returning kicks, and maybe that was the strategy...i.e. everyone knows he can run the ball, but the knock on him has been concerns about his speed. Now, he showed he can return well against IA defenders...

In the running game, the Nation team showcased Hairston and a FB named Stokes from App. State, and gave Russell a few carries very late, mixing in a little Justin Vincent (who was OK but not great)... but no Dawson....
bredden
Just an FYI, Taurean Charles' performance in practice and the game has earned him 3 NFL private workout so far, not including his upcoming pro day and local player day to the U. I know the "official" stats had him with 3 tackles. My albeit biased count had him with 6 or 7 total tackles and the INT for a touchdown - while playing with a bruised shoulder.
PatriotofMaine
AWESOME!!! Go Taurean Charles!!!

Brian, can we get an interview done? I am sure Bill Carroll would love to do that...maybe get a photo for homepage feature on him before the draft too??

Bill, you game??
bredden
I'll forward you a couple of pics you can choose from. Have bill send me an e-mail and I'll get TC to give him a call.
