Both teams came out very flat, with the only score, a 5 yard touchdown run by Jonathan Stewart, being set up by a late hit penalty by Marcus Ezeff. In the 2nd half, Cal consistently moved the ball and seemed to be running away with the game. However, everytime Cal scored, Oregon came back with a huge answering drive. A couple costly interceptions gave Cal great field position and chances to put away the game but with the quick strike Duck offense, it never seemed possible. Marcus Ezeff was finally able to redeem his penalty by forcing a fumble that resulted in a touchback. Cameron Colvin seemed to head straight for the end zone, stretching out for the touchdown before having it knocked from his grasp. Officials took at least 10 minutes to review the play, but ultimately got the call right as the Cal section celebrated with its players. In a wiiild week of college football, this was an especially wacky and excited finish to the biggest game of the week.

Cal PP's:

Nate Longshore, QB, Cal- Started off very slowly but had a big 2nd half and was finally able to get DeSean Jackson involved in the game. While finishing with a great 65 % completion rate, I did notice and breakdown in his mechanics and a loss of arm strength on plays where he felt pressure. Fortunately for him, in the 2nd half the Cal offensive line kept him well protected: B+

Justin Forsett, RB, Cal- Has really improved his stock. Went from a runningback too small and fragile to carry the full time load, to basically being the guy in the Cal offense(besides Jackson of course). He now has 585 yards with 9 touchdowns. He could be on his way to breaking many Cal rushing records, and a day one pick come April: A

DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal- Well we can officially welcome him back to the heisman race. After taking a 3 week vacation from the highlight reel, Jackson made his appearance felt on two amazing touchdown receptions. Both showed off his amazing speed and route running. With Cal now near the top of the rankings, I can see Jackson now actually winning the heisman: A+

Alex Mack, C, Cal- Another welcome back game for Mack. After a couple lackluster performances for him, he bounced back big protecting Longshore from the big Oregon front. Looked especially good on passing plays where he really pushed back the pass rush: B

Thomas Decoud, S, Cal- Didn't have as good agame as last week, but still played good. Clearly the leader of the Cal defense. Had some solid tackles, and a couple passes defensed. However, blew his coverage on the Colvin touchdown that almost killed Cal's chances of winning the game: C

Oregon PP's:

Dennis Dixon, QB, Oregon- Came into the game with momentum stacked a mile high. No interceptions, an undefeated record, and in front of the heisman race. In this game, all 3 would fall. A relatively accurate 1st half gave way to a 2nd half filled with 2 interceptions. Both at extremely costly times. Still give him credit, he was able to lead his team down the field both times and came within 1 yard of taking his team into overtime. I don't see him as a QB at the next level, just too inconsistent with his mechanics and just in general: C

Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon- finished with 120 yards on 21 rushes with 1 touchdown. Absolutely mauled Cal's freshman DB Chris Conte to send Autzen into a frenzy. However, with time against the Ducks, Stewart's carries were limited and he was prevented from really taking over the game: B

Cameron Colvin, WR, Oregon- Was able to sneak behind the coverage for a 42 yard touchdown in the 3rd quarter. Other than that was kept relatively quiet, finished with 74 yards on 7 receptions. A reliable target but isn't quite the go to guy for Dixon, especially on 3rd down: B-

Cal, now ranked #3 because of all the upsets, sits at its highest ranking in half a decade. The Bears get a much needed bye week before returning home to take on Oregon State. Oregon only dropped 3 spots to #14 in the polls and also gets a bye week before taking on Washington State.

Dixon has so much upside, he is similar to Stanback, but has a stronger arm, a patient team with good QB coaching could have something, but if he doesn't pan out as signal caller, then he can move to WR. Cameron Colvin reminds my of all those Auburn WRs that look like 1st rounders during warm ups, but never quite max out in games, just how fat is he, if he's under 4.45 he'll get taken on size/speed ratio alone. Jonathan Stewart is a real "load back." Jackson is the Allen Iverson of NCAA football, Forsett really does remind me of "Stump" Mitchell, Nate Longshore reminds me of Bledsoe, when protected he can kill you, but he hates upfield pressure from the inside. I like Mack but I think he's a depth guy at OG/C at the next level. Do you have Decoud's measurables? For him he'll need to impress at a pro day or he's a UDFA.
GGI
Mack's one of the best, if not the best C in the nation.
Broncosfan713
Decoud is listed at 6-2, 204 pounds on the Cal website. You really think he's an UDFA, I think he's in the 5-6 range if not a little higher.

And Mack is a very good center, but I'm not sure about best in the country we'll see.
GGI
I'm shocked a Cal fan doesn't agree.

Who do you think is better?
Broncosfan713
I can't honestly pinpoint one better than him haha, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. He may be the best, but we will wait and see.

Mack's a very good center but Enslinger and Mozes were GREAT NCAA centers, and went lower than many expected, part of it is the position even a future HOF quality center would have trouble going higher than late 1st. Can Decoud run? The reports I hear is that he's about 6'1.3'' 199 and has run between 4.51-4.62 if he goes in the low 4.5s he has a chance at 5 or the tail end of 4 if mid to low 4.6s rd6 to UDFA. Unfair but that's the way of the NFL.

I'll give you two names... Antoine Caldwell and Jonathan Luigs (both SEC underclassmen).

Hey Sam... tell me about Lavelle Hawkins. Is he legit, or does he just take advantage of playing opposite DeSean Jackson?
Broncosfan713
A little bit of both, Lavelle is a good receiver with who runs good routes and always catches the ball. However, he is able to find the soft spots in coverage because of playing next to DJ. He never gets double teamed and usually has the 2nd CB on him.
