PURDUE 7 VS OHIO STATE 10/6 23

The blueprint for Ohio State this year has been to jump on the opponents early and let the defense suffocate you. This game was no different as the Buckeyes scored 20 points really quick and then just let the defense do the rest. The Purdue offense didn’t look like tops in the Big 10 and as always, a good defense beats a good offense.

Dorien Bryant 9 5' 10.0" 175 4.40 WR 2009 Accounted for some yards on returns, but didn’t make any difference as a receiver. I think that’s how he will earn his bread in the NFL. NEUTRAL.

Kyle Ingraham 89 6' 9.0" 228 4.70 WR 2008 Not on the team(academics).

Jordan Grimes 66 6' 3.0" 325 5.20 OG 2008 Didn’t let the tackles get through too much. Just has a ton of upper body strength. Knows where the open guys are and make sure he gets to them. VERY POSITIVE

Dustin Keller 28 6' 3.2" 240 4.70 TE 2008 Big effort guy. Was the go to guy in crucial situations. Great after the catch, looks like a WR. Might be the best pro prospect on this team. Very intriguing prospect because he has the numbers as well as the measurables. POSITIVE

Selwyn Lymon 1 6' 4.0" 215 4.55 WR 2009 Got locked down by Jenkins. I really had some good hopes that he could make a name for himself, but really looked sluggish and was only thrown to a few times. NEGATIVE.

Curtis Painter 12 6' 4.0" 223 5.00 QB 2008 Really gets rid of the ball quickly-that’s the good. He just looked rattled all game. Never really set up his throws. Led a lot of 3 and outs. There were a lot of chances for him to bring this team back and he just didn’t make enough throws to make it happen. In his defense, he didn’t have any help whatsoever from the running game. NEGATIVE

Kirk Barton 74 6' 5.7" 310 5.20 OT 2008 Will prove to have made a smart decision by coming back to school. Is really polished and mirrors defenders perfectly. Will be a RT in the pros. Did get beat on one play that lead to a later FG, but he looked bad on the play. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE

Marcus Freeman 1 6' 1.3" 242 4.70 LB 2008 Was the player of the game on the defensively and has outplayed Laurinaitis this year. Laid some huge hits. Read plays quickly and reacted to it quicker. Might end up being a Butkus finalist. VERY POSITIVE(PLAYER OF THE GAME)

Vernon Gholston 50 6' 3.5" 260 4.75 DE 2009 Everytime I keyed in on him he was double teamed. Looked good when he wasn’t. The line did a great job of keeping him at bay and making it so he didn’t make a lot of plays. Held him to just a tackle or 2. NEGATIVE

James Laurinaitis 33 6' 2.5" 244 4.58 LB 2009 Overall a quiet game. I think he plays his best football when he is dropped back in coverage. Didn’t make a lot of plays at the line of scrimmage though. NEUTRAL

Malcolm Jenkins 6' 0.7" 212 4.60 CB 2009 Wasn’t tested a lot at all, but still made it to the ball a lot. I love his versatility, he played some safety as well. In my eyes, he is the best defensive back in the country. VERY POSITIVE

Larry Grant 6 6' 3.0" 225 4.70 LB 2008 Had a nice sack late in the first half. Had an interception and a TFL. Was a top notch JUCO transfer who has lived up to his hype. So quick to the ball. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE

Chris Wells 0' 0.0" 0 0.00 HB 2010 “Beanie” looked good taking over for Antionio Pittman. Is much bigger and stronger than you might think. Maurice Wells may have had an overall better game. Chris looks great between the tackles. Doesn’t have the speed you’d like to see from a back, but has the power. Doesn’t have a lot of speed to get to the next level. In and out with ankle issues. NEUTRAL

Dionte Johnson 0' 0.0" 0 0.00 FB 2008 Old school blocker hitting people for the Wells’. NEUTRAL.

OHIO STATE

Brian Robiskie-WR-Moved the sticks all night. Hand catches the ball. Made a number of big plays early in the game to gain the momentum of the game. Caught nearly everything shown his way. Very smooth, runs terrific routes, especially underneath. Best hands of any Buckeye receiver(Gonzales included), I’ve seen over the last few years.

Alex Boone-Better than Barton. Only a junior who probably wont declare, looks really good on each play.

Ray Small-Made some really nice plays as a receiver and returner. Fans have anointed him the next Ted Ginn. I think he will be a better receiver, but not returner.

PURDUE

Anthony Heygood-Former running back who I think has a great chance to make a name for himself at LB. Kept Purdue in this one for 3 quarters. He had 3 TFLs and seemed like he was in on 1 play per series. Love his instincts. He is just learning the nuances of the position as well, watch out for him, he will hear his name called in April.

I've been hearing lots of comments like this about Jenkins. Moved him way up in the Top 100.

I like Jenkins a great deal, but I LOVE Marcus Freeman, he could develop into a Donnie Edwards type, how good can Grant be at the next level?
Purdue- Painter, is he a #3 or #2 at the next level? Keller looks like a smaller quicker Chris Baker, IMHO, if he has a good combine/pro day I think he could go 4th/5th round.

After being a top juco transfer last year, I really haven't been overly impressed with Grant. He's made some plays, but its tough to play with Laurinitis and Freeman and Gholston and Jenkins. Painter has had 1/2 of a good season and to me is a career backup. Keller is nice, could really develop into a nice prospect for the NFL.

Jenkins, IMO, is the best CB in this draft and could be one of the better overall prospects. Alot like Whitner, CB/S tweener. Fast enough to be a corner, can hit like a safety.
