Offense-
TB RS Junior 5’11,7” 214 4.47 Est Eric Haw looked like the TB that had Buckeye fans excited 3 years ago as he had 135 yards on 23 carries, if he stays health he could be a mid to late 2nd day pick in a year he has power, acceleration and some juke to his style.
QB #9 5’11.7” 179 Jimmy Oliver was wild with 3 picks and he did make some good throws, but the 21 of 31, 308 yards and 3 TDS were tempered the three misdeeds 2 of which looked like bad reads or big time misses.
WR # 83 Jaymar Johnson 6'0.4 176 4.46 Est was held in check mostly with only 3 catches for 48 yards but he did 2 TD grabs, 10 yards from scrimmage and a long return of 26 yards.
DEFENSE
Sophomore LB #56 6’1.5” 236 4.69 EST Marcellus Speaks had a very busy and disruptive game and stood out with 4 solos 7 assists, 2 solo TFL and 2 assisted TFL.
OFFENSE
Note: RS Sophomore Clevan White #9 6’3.2 188 4.57 Est. a rangy target with good RAC ability looked like a younger bigger Todd Pinkston and his end arounds and Lee’s scrambles were the the only effective runs SU had all day.
QB Bryant Lee 6'1.4" 194 4.66 40 [Est] who was, virtually the whole offense for SU passing 21-for-29 for 254 yards and three touchdowns and 13 net yards rushing, before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.
Darren Coates TB #43 6'0.2" 201 4.54 40 [Est] Coates like the rest of Southern’s backs did next to zip via the ground with 4 yards on 5 carries but he got his Reggie Bush on as a pass catcher with 8 snags for 110 yards, 1 TD and 13.8 average. As I stated he’s like Tony Nathan a back with a nice blend of attributes, though no single quality blows you away. He looks like a TB who could be a change of pace or spell your workhorse without too much drop off.
Gerard Landry FB/HB #80 6'1.6" 236 4.66 40 [Est] The # says if all, though listed on the roster as a FB he was one in name only but he was impressive again as a receiver though as was mentioned before SU had no running game. He had 6 catches for 58 yards and showed soft hands. A priority UDFA.
DEFENSE The front 7 was led by Vincent Lands OLB #33 6'0.4" 234 4.77 40 [Est] Lands was everywhere the senior LBs I have him with 5 solos and 5 helpers, 4, 2 solo TFL 2 assisted TFL and a sack but he was always around the ball.
Sophomomore LB #56 6’1.3” 244 4.78 Est. Brian Lewis finished with 11 tackles (7 solo), and looked quick
Jarmaul George FS #2 6'0.1" 186 4.66 40 [Est] George again showed he’s a PP posting four solo tackles, three assists and a PBU. He has good coverage skills and is a solid tackler, he could get bigger and if he can reduce his 40 time he could be a late 2nd day bargain. He reminds me of Ramon Walker former Pitt safety.
