The Falcons head into the bye this weekend at 1-6, so here's a quick look at what they have to face through the last nine weeks of the season

San Fransisco (2-4)
@Carolina (4-2)
Tampa Bay (4-3)
Indianapolis (6-0)
@St. Louis (0-7)
New Orleans (2-4)
@Tampa Bay (4-3)
@Arizona (3-4)
Seattle (4-3)

Do you think that the Falcons can target any of these as potentially winnable? If so which ones? What do you think the Falcons will hoping to achieve by the end of the season?

If the team was focused and ready to play each week, there are five realistic chances for wins, there.

However, that's not the case. The team will be in and out for the rest of the season. Grady's departure has been largely viewed by the team vets as the front office throwing in the towel, so guys are going to start freelancing to try to pad their stats for contracts next season. DeAngelo will make himself an even bigger distraction. DeMorrio Williams is also looking for a contract, and he already blows at least one gap assigment per game.

4-12, maybe... wins over Carolina, St. Louis, and the maybe would be Tampa Bay or New Orleans.

Here's a sickening thought.

If Carolina loses to Green Bay... and they will

And New Orleans loses to Houston... and they might

And Atlanta handles Tampa Bay

There would be a four-way tie for the division lead at 4-6. The NFC South would be well on its way to sending a sub-five hundred team to the playoffs.

I don't see NO doing any worse than 9-7. But then again, I didn't think they'd start so bad, either.

Well it's sort of moot at this point. Tampa Bay has a hammer lock on the division at 6-4 with a two game lead, which doesn't sound like much until you consider that the two teams chasing them needed ten weeks just to get four wins.

That two game lead migh as well be four games the way this division is playing.

On a semi-related note, Atlanta could lose their way the the #2 pick this weekend. It seems realistic given that St. Louis actually should've won last weekend, and Atlanta is still struggling with the injuries that have made the defensive line paper thin.

Stephen Jackson could have a big day.

You know, if this happens I will be forced into quoting myself for the second time ever! Now that will be bad!

OK...sadly this happened. I mean, we held him pretty well right until the end, but nevertheless the stats mean I'm forced to say I told me so!

I can almost hear Bobby Petrino shouting " Hey, Steven Jackson! I just got rid of my big DT so that you can run straight through us in a few weeks! Thought you'd fancy that!"

Yep, that was right back when we cut Grady Jackson...and now look at us! Bobby Petrino, shame on you!

How about Bobby Petrino? Stay or go?

Nice call. Although, I think things might have been slightly better if Trey Lewis and Rod Coleman hadn't been sent to the IR in between. I didn't really see what happened on the play he broke, but if I had to guess, I'd say DeMorrio missed his gap.... just call it a hunch after watch DeMo play for the last two years.

Sweet Jeebus, I hope he stays.

His first year may not have been roses and chocolate, but he's blown up half the team and leaving now would be horrible. It would set the franchise back at least another year.

At this point, he really should want to stay. He'll have ample draft picks and cap space. Most teams won't change in two off-seasons as much as Atlanta will change between February and May.

The question wasn't WILL HE QUIT ON THE TEAM it was SHOULD HE GO.

And he shouldn't have.
