MSU AT IOWA
We got some extra innings in this one! Just a brutal game if you are a Spartan fan. The formula for beating MSU has just been to hang around for most of the game then go in for the kill in the 2nd half. Michigan State just cannot finish. Iowa finally put some offense together with the run game of Young and Sims.

College: Michigan State Conference: Big 10 Columnist: Adam Davis
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Kellen Davis 81 6' 6.0" 254 4.60 TE 2008 Quieter game for Davis. His physique is extremely impressive. Has played some linebacker and found a home at tight end. NEUTRAL.

Mike Gyetvai 66 6' 7.0" 307 5.30 OT 2008 DID NOT PLAY.

Ervin Baldwin 51 6' 2.0" 252 4.90 DE 2008 Isnt the force he was last year. He did go right up the middle one one play and whammied Christensen to put it up to 4th down. Was pretty consistent all day as a rush end. POSITIVE.

College: Iowa Conference: Big 10 Columnist: Adam Davis
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Albert Young 21 5' 10.0" 209 4.56 HB 2008 His stats were good but overall I wasn’t impressed. He just hasn’t panned into the type of player we thought he would be. Has been banged up a lot and lookd fair in this one, but overall as a PP he has a lot of work to do. Looked impressive today and helped his team get the W. POSITIVE

Kenny Iwebema 92 6' 4.0" 270 4.90 DE 2008 DNP.

Mike Klinkenborg 40 6' 2.0" 240 4.75 LB 2008 Team Captain. Is a tough nasty player. Attempted a few pass rushes, but is more of an old school run stopper.
SLIGHTLY POSITIVE.

Bryan Mattison 99 6' 3.0" 272 5.10 DE 2008 Has taken over for Iwebema. Another no nonsense, lunch-pail guy. Knows the game because his dad is a defensive coordinator at Florida I believe. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE.

Those to watch:
MSU
ADD-Jehuu Caulcrick, RB-In the mold of a Jerome Bettis. I don’t see him playing FB at the next level but a little bit of running back. Is way faster than he should be. Patient. All he does is score touchdowns, a perfect battery ram.

Javon Ringer, RB(JR)-Big play back who is a threat to take it to the house. Can catch, run, and block. Rumored 4.3 forty. Needs to build his upper and lower body a little before he becomes a top flight RB.

Devin Thomas, WR(JR)-No homerism, but Thomas is one of the most explosive guys in the NCAA. Reverses, runs, catching and returning kicks, is an all purpose nightmare. If you get this guy in space he is fun to watch.

Jonal Saint-Dic-The sackmaster gets er done on every play. Already has a Big 10 record of forced fumbles with 8. Could turn into a really nice 1-D pass rushing end.

Iowa
Mitch King, DT(JR)-Was pretty quiet all day. Has a lot of potential, but was shut down by the big MSU olinemen.

ADD-Mike Humpal-Had 18 tackles! Diagnosed plays quickly and got to the football. Was in on special teams plays as well. I think of a heat-seaking missile, that isn’t all the fast but effective.

Charles Godfrey CB-Tough, physical corner.

Is Iwebema hurt, or did he get benched?

What year is Humpal, Adam? Do you know his measurables?

Any chance Devin Thomas might declare? Do you know his forty?

Also...Did you leave a message on my phone this past weekend? Somebody did, but I couldn't make out the voice or the message. TIA...

I didnt catch anything about Iwebema when Tom Arnold was doing the intros. He's been hurt his whole career, but I do know he has played some games this year. I did some research on couldnt find anything on an injury or suspension. He's great when he's in.

Humpal is a senior. He's 6-3 / 242, didn't get a time on him, but probably not impressive. He's more of an overacheiver, classic Big 10 linebacker that just gets it done.

Thomas is special, I have to think he is on the radar of scouts. He's near the top of a few statistical categories in the Big 10. I think he will stay, but if he runs like he plays, he could be a sleeper to keep an eye on.

Before Saturday, no one on that team had caught my eye really. King the DT had a quiet day, the best prospect on the team is probably Godfrey. There is a reason that this team really isnt any good, they just dont have a lot of talent on either side of the ball.

Devin Thomas is MidWestern for Percy Harvin, Humpal has been a solid tackler and instinctive, he's about 4.74, is a 3 time Academic All-Big 10 and posted a career-high 18 tackles, 2 1/2 tackles for loss (with one sack) and a fumble recovery against Illinois, winning Big 10n Defensive player of the week. He's a better athlete than most know he: won Class 2A state wrestling title at 215 pounds as a junior placed second in the 110-meter high hurdles at the Class 3A state track meet as a junior, placed eighth in the discus and was a member of 400-meter relay team that qualified for state meet. He's a grad student and started 12 games last year he had 49 TT, 4.5 TFL, 3 INTs and 3 PBUs. I'd invite him to camp he has played inside and outside. wink.gif
