Offense vs. defense. Defense won in this one. Iowa was led my senior LB Mike Humpal en route to shutting down the high powered NW offense. There were some quality players in this one, especially the Iowa linebackers and NW running back Tyrell Sutton.
IOWA AT NORTHWESTERN 28-17
Albert Young 21 5' 10.0" 209 4.56 HB 2008 Like his blend of size and power. He just hasn’t been the superstar I thought he would be. Has the ability to be a workhorse back, but does not posses the breakaway speed he once showed. NEUTRAL
Kenny Iwebema 92 6' 4.0" 270 4.90 DE 2008 Was held a lot in check by Thiry. Only had a few tackles. I just haven’t been impressed by him that much this season. He’s been in and out of the lineup but when in, he hasn’t looked good. He was double teamed a few times, but he’s been mentioned as an all Big 10 guy, and I just don’t see it. NEGATIVE.
Mike Klinkenborg 40 6' 2.0" 240 4.75 LB 2008 Played the game with a broken hand and a cast. I love his drive and determination. Plays the game like it should be played. Wasn’t his usual self, but was still effective. SLIGHTLY POSITIVE.
Bryan Mattison 99 6' 3.0" 272 5.10 DE 2008 Got into the backfield early and often. Just made a few big plays that really sputtered the offense. Quietly putting together a really nice senior campaign. VERY POSITIVE

Trevor Rees 6' 2.0" 285 5.20 C 2008 Quick play guy. Does not let the tackles get much pressure. More of the pressue came from the ends. He makes some nice calls at the line to exploit a weakness. POSITIVE
Tyrell Sutton 19 5' 9.0" 190 4.45 HB 2009 Missed 5 games with a right ankle injury. Looked good, especially catching out of the backfield. Can line up anywhere. Turns nothing into something on every play. Averaged 5 yards a pop and continues to shred defenses. POSITIVE.
Dylan Thiry 0' 0.0" 0 0.00 OT 2008 LT. Played very high when going against Iwebema, looked out of position a few times. Made quick adjustments to evade defender. He did for the most part keep Iwebema in check. Overall looked good, but he has to work on his pad level. POSITIVE.
ADD
Charles Godfrey-CB-Got beat on a touchdown early in the game. Looked good as a gunner on special teams.
Mike Humpal-LB-Is in one every play, just a classic overachiever who gets the job done. Another quality day at the office. 11 tackles and even when he wasn’t making the tackle, he was in the vicinity. Incredibly instinctive, tough, and efficient. May not have the measurables to excel at the next level, but will make a camp based on production.
