I like Green Bay over Dallas. I know most of you would pick Dallas and would say that I'm just picking GB because I'm a GB fan, but think about it. Green Bay's passing game has averaged 25 more yards per game than Dallas. Green Bay also has a better defense than Dallas, especially their secondary.

Dallas fan here, and hope Dallas wins but cannot disagree Dallas has secondary issues and leaves open holes for huge gains and huge plays. I like seeing Dallas finally attack teams though, much more fun to watch, the key is cann they rush Favre enough...

Yeah, that'll be a good game in week 13, Green Bay at Dallas.

Very good question sir, kinda like Pats/Colts of the NFC. Your point about GB having 25 more passing yards per game than Dallas is a fine one, except it fails to account for the fact that the Packers have had (until this week) no real running game to speak of. So your advantage in passing yards is surpassing by Dallas' much greater running game.

Lets break the matchup down a bit:

Brett Favre vs Tony Romo: the HOFer vs the young pretender - these 2 are without doubt the best QBs in the NFC and I'd say they are on a par with each other right now. I think if you were building an all time greatest Franchise, you'd go for Favre, but planning for the future you'd have to go with Romo. Advantage: PUSH

Cowboys rush vs Packers rush D: the Cowboys can hurt you in so many ways on the ground and Julius Jones and Marion Barber are a tandem to be reckoned with. However the Green Bay run D ranks 7th in the NFL and allows just about 90yards per game. Unstoppable force vs immovable object, maybe so. Advantage: PUSH

Cowboys pass vs Packers pass D: The Packers D ranks 3rd in completion % against, showing that they are very good at stopping teams passing on them. They are also 3rd in number of sacks, so they are both able to get good pressure of the QB as well as break up passes in the secondary. However, the Cowboys rank 3rd in the NFL in passing yards and 2nd in passing TDs. Advantage: PUSH

Packers rush vs Cowboys rush D: GB have no real running game to speak of (at least before Ryan Grant) and rank dead last in the NFL. Factor in the Dallas run D which ranks 5th in the NFL and I'm afraid this one is easy. Advantage: Dallas, by a large margin.

Packers pass vs Cowboys pass D: GB rank top in the NFL in yards per game and have great weapons in Favre, Jennings and co. However, despite perceived problems in the secondary, the Cowboys rank 6th in completion % against, although their yardage allowed is not so good, ranking around the middle of the NFL. Advantage: Green Bay

Based on that, I'd give a very very slight edge to Dallas, but only maybe a field goal's worth, possibly less.

Good analysis...

It will be a great game.

Close for sure, but both teams are capable of many turn overs, etc. Like anyone really. FUn to watch if they are both on the attack.

Thanks! I'd like to do this sort of thing a little more often, but never know where to go and who would actually be interested. Obviously being based in Europe makes things difficult but I'd love to write for someone, somewhere....maybe one day!

Lol yeah I know that GB has no running game, which is why i didn't mention it. It would've gone against my argument. I have no faith in the RBs for GB.

ya the pack have no running game and BRANDON JACKSON IS A BUST AND SUCKS!!!!!!!! but anyways obviously i love the pack but terrell owens and co. are going to win i think. the cowboys d will force one or more favre turnovers and the cowboys are too explosive on offense especially in that dome. i think the pack will shut down barber and jones but witten will have success one on one against bibgy and/or rouse and owens will eventually burn woodson or harris.. sorry but 28- 20 cowboys sad.gif

I think that another factor that makes GB so good is their homefield advantage, which is one of the best in the NFL. Welcome to Lambeau Field. Of course, that won't be a factor in the Dallas vs. GB game, but it makes a huge difference. I think that Bigby will be able to cover Witten for the most part, and Woodson is physical enough to cover TO. But when it comes down to it, Dallas will win that game. Their offense is too good to contain, considering they have a great QB and two good RBs. However, I think the Pack will put up points on them as well. I think this game will be decided by a FG, with Dallas on top. However, I have the opposite happening at Lambeau. On a neutral field, I also see GB winning a close one.

Im a packer fan so im rootiing for the packers in this game but what i believe is that the cowboys r to good for them or nyone in the nfc may be close and hopefully a gb win but i think the cowboys will get another w im still stickin with my preseason superbowl pick of the pats over the cowboys

The Dallas D is too weak to be dominant. They're too reliant on their offense, especially Romo. They narrowly beat Washington 28-23, a team that can barely score. On an offnight on Romo's part, like the Buffalo game, they are very vulnerable. They got extremely lucky to beat a mediocre Buffalo team, 24-23.
