When the going gets tough, well... in Petrinos case he got going, in a hurry. After only thirteen regular season games and a tumultuous off season the Louisville slugger srikes out in Atlanta, but hit a homerun with the Arkansas razorbacks. I think Petrino was looking out for Petrino and rightfully so; if a mans heart is not committed and focused on the job at hand then I trluy believe its time to move on, even if its only after thirteen miserable games. In a press conference Petrino, announced he was happy, but the same cant be said for the Atlanta falcons especially Deangelo Hall the outspoken corenerback.
This is not a case of rumors or publicly addressing the media and declaring youre still the coach as Les Miles have done, nor is it a case of lying or having a sudden change of heart as Nick Saban did. But rather its a case where Petrino was doomed from the very beginning, thanks to legal troubles from his star quaterback Micheal Vick, Petrinos dream of being a stable in the NFL was a bad one, more like a nightmare. Ironically Petrino accepted the Arkansas job a day after Mike Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison.
Well, Booby you had to find out the hard way the trasition from college to the pros is not as easy as it seems. Its harder to train a man in the way he should go than it is to train a boy in the way he should go. Back to college, look out Tebow, Petrinos in town.

He'll be gone in 3-5 years...He's using Arkansas to get to the Auburn job.

Whatever happened to being a man? Any children who see this story will think that he's done the right thing, looking after himself. He should stand and be counted just like everyone else!

But the fact is that he, Spurrier and Mike Riley were not a good fit for the place and time, I believe that many of the established college coaches can do well in situations where they have a strong player personnel system and aren't so egotistic as to think they can be a semi-GM right out of the box. Unless the coach is the right man for the job and has a plan for the situation he is doing you a favor be getting out before more damage is done!

I agree, I'm glad he's gone! But giving up and walking away is not the right way to do things, especially at this stage of the season. He could have gone in 3 weeks, but no not Petrino. It has to be his way or the highway!
