My guess is he keeps some of the spread option plays for a situational package where a TB or WR with HS QB experience or direct snaps to a back, Mallett has an AMAZING arm he and Davis at Ball State may have the 2 strongest in the FBS next year, I believe Rodriguez wants to prove he can coach a pro style offense and future NFL QB, IMHO.

Well i was suprised Rich was the last guy i expected to jump ship. This move confuses me though because Rich runs a spread option with Michigan is a traditional pro style offense. I like Rodriguez as a coach but i don't think he makes a good fit here beside the name. Michigan s going to have Ryan Mallett start at Qb next season. this guy is 6-7 240 with what i believe is the strongest arm in college football and he is a freshman, but Mallett is a classic drop back passer who is definatley not suited for a spread option. Michigans O-line are mostly huge mauler type lineman not really fast enough to move with a spread option either. I also don't like the idea of a coach leaving a team he built up and was a game away from the title game. He is not even going to Coach his team in their bowl game even though Carr will still be at Michigan which to me is a little classless. I think its moves like this that can cheapen college football. it would be different if they did transfers for coaches like they do to players and make them sit out a year before they coach there new team. they don't even maekt the guy switch conferences look at houston nutt. i think its time coachs are held just as accountable as the players.
