Over the years everyone almost always congers up trade possibilities for there teams. This year is like no other but with a solid foundation of reasons why for the CHIEFS, this is probably going to happen.

King Carl is evaluating himself and if he decides he has done a good enough job to stay on he will be extremely active this year to proof hi worth to the Hunt family and fans.

2007 roster was purged and veterans were traded away stock piling for this years draft. Look for additional vet's like Greg Wesley to be traded possible a 5 rounder.

The number 5 spot in this years draft is where quality starts to drop off and is a premium pick for a lot of teams looking to move up and get their player.

OL which is historically easier and safer to evaluate than other positions is very deep in this up coming draft. Key need for Chiefs.

Predicting that Jake Long will be off the board by this pick, The chiefs should be the first team to trade down on draft day. Possible to Dallas for there 2 first round pick and their 3rd rounder. If this scenario were to take place the Chiefs could possible land an elite CB in the early first and a stud OL later in the first. Then come back in the second looking at value for the O- Line again.

I will not rule out the Trade down and or a Defensive player taken in the first round!!!!

Surprise.

"2007 roster was purged and veterans were traded away stock piling for this years draft." If that was "King Carl's" idea, I'm not too overly impressed with this year's draft compared to say, next year's draft, or even last year's draft. That being said, there are some good LBs and WRs out there, always a Chiefs need. However, if I were Mr. Peterson, I'd get one Jared Allen signed.

From the Kansas City Chiefs web site after a 4-12 season--DEPTH CHART--starters 1)John Carney (18years in the NFL)--injury repalcement--2)Ty Law (13 years) 3)Donnie Edwards (12 years) 4) Eddie Kennison (IR) (12 years) 5)Casey Wiegmann (12 years) 6)Damon Huard (11 years) 7)Tony Gonzalez (11 years) 8)Jason Dunn (b/up TE) (11 years) 9)Patrick Surtain (10 years) and 10)Greg Wesley (8 years)---and I thought the Patriots were Ancient. It is one thing to have age a factor at a position (inside linebacker) where strength and experience is more important than speed but to have two starting cornerbacks about to collect social security is a disaster waiting to happen---4-12!!! I do not believe a purge was really managed but more like trying to put your finger in the dike to keep the water from leaking through. NOW the dike has a huge crack and the water is pouring through and you just will have to start over and build a new dike--in Kansas City--Keep Tony Gonzalez and let every one else go by trade or by pink slip. Damon Huard might have some value--possibly in Miami--where he got his start and he was also in New England as a back-up to Tom Brady--Close the old age home now--take your lumps next year with younger players and rebuild. The building blocks to a franchise in need of help is the offensive and defensive lines. That is where you concentrate your first day of the draft (rounds 1-3) and try to find mid-range (rounds 3-5) defensive backs with speed (Terrence Wheatley) or instincts (Craig Steltz). There is no quick fix BUT a new personnel/draft co-ordinator is needed--Unfortunately, I am presently employed--thanks for listening--rich from newport

All good points, rich, except I don't think they can afford to let Allen go, who is in his prime, and led the NFL in sacks and was 4th in tackles among DL. DT is turning into a yearly need for this team. They also have a nice bookend DE in Hali. I also like their LB, Johnson, although he hasn't turned into the QB rusher they originally advertised they were getting. On the D side, they do have some building blocks. I might also add they also have some serious unanswered questions with some of their younger players, starting with their QB. I am still not sold on Croyle's ability to become a quality NFL QB. I know he's young, I just don't have a good feeling about his NFL ability, especially his ability to stay healthy. Bowe didn't exactly remind anyone of Otis Taylor (still don't understand why he's not in the HOF), but WRs usually develop in 2-4 years so the jury is still out on him. The one thing I've noticed, and if I were a Chief's fan would consider a very serious flaw, is the lack of contribution from the Chiefs later draft picks. They just have not done a very good job after the 1st round in recent years, nor in UDFAs. This team is full of other teams castoffs, or older players they picked up in FA. IMO, you need to consistently hit with some quality players in rounds 4-7, while mixing in a few UDFAs in order to compete with the best, because that's what they're doing. The current trend with the Chiefs...if their 1st rounder is a bust, it usually means their whole draft is a bust.

It's one thing to say "they HAVE to trade down," but coming up with a willing partner is another thing. Especially since they're holding the 5th pick. The top 5 picks are all pretty much guaranteed big contracts, so it's all going to come down to who may fall to them, and if that player is extremely attractive and wanted by someone else willing to make an equitable trade. You can say they should trade down all you want, but if you don't have a partner willing to dance, you have to dance with what's there.

Since the Chiefs now have the 3rd pick I see them trading with the 49ers.. our 3rd for their 2 1st rounders.. and we can throw in some 4th and 5th rounders in for them.. we can then take Taylor Mays and Terence Cody.. that will plug up the middle and definitely help stop the run...

Tough to trade pick 3, no one really wants it. Too much money these days tied up in it and the trade you just proposed wouldnt be worth it to SF. They have big needs as well.

Not to mention I don't believe Taylor Mays has a future at S in the NFL...LB perhaps, but not at the Safety position.
