Crennel and Lewis will be back. Berrian would be a terrible move, IMO. Over-rated speed guy with hands of stone. I heard Bentley will be released, but I know he also used to play guard, so bringing him back could be a good move. I would keep both Anderson and Quinn this year too, and move one or the other next year.

If Lewis is resigned, which he should be, the number one need for this team is at DE. Other than that, this team has done a great job filling out each position. The only area of major concern is the D-Line.

I still say Miami trades the 1st pick to Clev for Anderson and a pick/picks. This move would allow Crennel to grab Dorsey for that line. They also need a 2nd WR since Joey J s best suited as a 3rd; some help in the linebacking corps and a couple of safeties. They could also use a young RB from the middle rounds....

I can't believe McGinnest is still playing.

I don't think Anderson is a Parcells type of QB. And, if he's not a Parcells-type, I doubt if he'll be an Ireland type either. Too many ints, and not a high enough completion percentage. That may very well improve with experience, but I do not see the Fins trading away the 1st pick in the draft for Anderson, and presently, the Browns don't have much else to offer without hurting their own rebuilding.

I don't think S is really a need, other than a backup, but any DL position is a need (especially DE, but NT too), a couple of LBs would certainly be very nice too, especially one that can rush the QB. They could use a WR, OL depth, a young RB.

Cleveland presently has around $30 million in cap room, so they could fill one or two of these with FAs. If I were them, I might consider Terrell Suggs, from division rival Baltimore at OLB. He'd fit in nicely in their 3-4.

-If a team in the top 15 extends an offer to DA, the Browns are not likely to match.
-Browns are looking to extend Romeo's contract by 3-years, and name Chudzinski coach in waiting.
-Browns OC Rob Chudzinski will interview with the Ravens and is likely to get another interview as things progress.
-Bentley is in the final year of his contract, so it's play or (unfortunately), c ya.
-Browns do intend to get a #2 WR, they like Berrian as I said earlier.
-DE will be address, Haynesworth and Tommy Kelly are top priorities. They will also look into Randy Starks, Paul Spicer, Corey Williams, possibly Marques Douglas, and others.
-NT Ethan Kelley is a top priority to re-sign.
-Browns will look into Terrell Suggs, but BALT is expected to atleast franchise him. That is why they let Adalius Thomas walk last year.
-Yes, we do have $30 million, but alot of teams have alot of cap this year.
BrownsFan731
-Also, a S might be brought in to push Brodney Pool a little bit.

I just heard the Browns might keep Anderson!
This would be the worst move, you just essentialy wasted 2 first rounders on Quinn last year. They should trade Anderson while he is hot.

Don't be so quick here. Next year the Browns will have a much tougher schedule, and you just may need both QBs. Also, if they sign a FA or two, that could easily make up for the lack of a 1st rounder. And, what's wrong with Quinn getting another year of learning? I would try to get him in some more games though, even if it's just handing off in the last minute or two. But, if you're blowing someone out, or getting blown out in the 4th quarter, why not give him a few series for the experience factor? I think they should keep both, unless someone comes along and knocks the socks off of them with a ridiculous offer.

I still say trade Anderson while he is hot, I dont think he will have a good year next year.

They could still work out a sign and trade later. However, we are finally a team that competes. Many of us are not willing to go back to uncertainty at this point.
-OC Rob Chudzinski turned down Ravens interview, because his wife recently had another child. He was a Browns fan when little, and is expected to get the HC position when RAC leaves.
-DC Todd Grantham has been fired, DB coach Mel Tucker has been named DC. Corey Undlin is the new DB coach.

You are a competitive team now, and fully capable of winning on any Sunday against any team. IMO, Savage would be wise to sign Anderson to a multi year contract, then if and when Brady shows enough to be the starter, trade the one he wants. I read yesterday an interview in one of the Cleveland papers where Savage stated he is prepared to trade next year's No1. draft pick (2009), if one of the players he has on his board in the top 15 fall into the mid to late 20s of this years draft...so you still may get a No1 this year. I think what he's doing, and this is totally an assumption, is playing the waiting game. He knows he already has a QB who is NFL and playoff caliber in Anderson. What he doesn't really know, is what he has in Brady. If he can sign Anderson, then wait and see on Brady, he'll recoup the draft pick he gave Dallas for Brady, and perhaps more. Also, look at it this way...he gave up this year's 22nd pick, for Dallas' 22nd pick last year...in effect, losing nothing...while gaining a young QB who's had a year in the system. Not bad.

You and I both. He did play better towards the end of the season though. However, it is a position that we will more than likely address this offseason.

You hit everything on the head. If I was Savage I would trade the following years first round pick every year until we win the Super Bowl. But, I know nothing about the business world, so I will leave it alone. The team is in fact putting together a long term deal for Anderson. Great post, thanks for adding your thoughts.

Browns will sign WR Bryant Johnson, LB Terrell Suggs, and DE Corey Williams.
Trade Anderson for 17th pick (Vikings) and pick Calais Campbell. In the 2nd round they pick RB Tashard Choice or if a better RB falls then pick him. In the 3rd they pick a NT, (best available). and in the 4th they pick a guard.
BrownsFan731
1. Suggs is expected to atleast be franchised by the Ravens.
2. Calais Campbell is vastly overrated, I don't want him on the Browns.
I like both Johnson and Corey Williams. If we traded Anderson, then I would do this.
1. Rashard Mendenhall
2. Pat Sims
3. Phillip Wheeler
4. Davone Bess
Then sign Bryant Johnson and Corey Williams/Tommy Kelly.

Browns Updates:
1. DC Todd Grantham has been fired and replaced by Mel Tucker.
2. The Browns have extended offers to Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis.
BraylonChamp#17
Anderson declined the 3 year offer, his agent says he wants a 5 year deal in the 40 million range.

I'm wondering how long K 2 will hold up on those knees. He is going to have another surgery and he's already had the dreaded microfracture, (I think that's what it's called.) where they use scar tissue to act like knee cartilage.
nyyjones
Browns are ready to sign Anderson to a 3 year deal. This will certainly help them in any trade proposition with other teams too, because they won't be tied to someone who doesn't pan out for a lot of money. It will also give Anderson the chance to prove last year wasn't a fluke, and that he can improve on what he showed. In the long run, he'll get a big contract somewhere if he does.

Bernard Berrian won't be a Brown, Crennel and Savage would prefer good route runner to complement Edwards and Winslow, Berrian is neither. Jamal Lewis just signed a three year deal. Derrick Anderson is still up in the air, some teams like him because he will be more proven then any rookie with all the physical skills. The only problem is a team would have to run some form of San Diegos offense or Chuds. So if a team will take Anderson it will be the ravens....I see them giving a second/third and Suggs more then giving a 1st and third because there are too many holes to fill in Baltimore. Please Respond!

I'd rather have the 2nd deal involving Suggs, it fills a huge need without using a draft pick and gives the Browns an extra 2nd and 3rd which they can use on d-lineman. I dont want Anderson back so it doesn't matter to me, I just want some defense or some draft picks from his trade in return.
