Tie game!

Uh oh! Here comes LSU. I hope OSU wins though.
jerry14
If LSU wins shoud it be a 4way tie with WV USC LSU Dogs? I know it seems like a long shot but LSU is far from the undisputed CHamps this year.

I hope LSU wins. Big 10 is trash and ihope LSU showsthat Bucks should not be there.
RedRaider80
chevis jackson just made an amazing play when robiskie had the ball in his hands. if steltz is out for a couple quarters, that would hurt lsu alot. and LSU blocked a FG as i type this so it seems they will have more momentum on this possesion.
bwalker
This is a good game with a lot of prospects. Hester has looked impressive as well as Doucet. Beanie Wells has looked good so far too.
RedRaider80
anybody see beanie wells' stiff arm on chevis jackson i think it was? that was LT style. and now OSU is in a whole and idk if there offense is powerful enough to come back if they get down 2 or more scores.
RedRaider80
i know its early, but that pick boeckman just threw might be the dagger to OSU....
gpngc
I think the better team is winning the game in this one. But I'd love to see an OSU comeback just for entertainments sake.

I saw that stiff-arm. RIDICULOUS.

Malcolm Jenkins hasn't done squat and gave up a touchdown to LaFell.

do u think it affects his decision to go early or not? i do, now that many 1st round potential corners had declared, do you think jenkins will decide to come back to school?

This halftime show is ridiculously long. Is that the American Idol guy doing the halftime show?

HAHA. No it's Chris Rose from Best Damn Sports Show.

I don't know. He's been good this year aside from this game. I'm not sure how much this game, and that TD in particular, will impact his decision.
RedRaider80
that roughin penalty cost OSU big time very unfortuante for OSU

I guess TV sets all along the East Coast are shutting down and going to sleep. Looks like another year OSU gets blown out in the big game. Start the Big Ten overrated cries!

Next year can we ban OSU from the title game and VT from a BCS bowl? It's like a rerun.

OSU with beanie wells after another offseason of improvement will be good though, hes had more rushing yards this year than any oter sophmore RB ever at OSU. and VT with tyrod taylor will proboly be a strong contender in the ACC. i dont like VT at all, but the ACC is pretty weak recently
RedRaider80
YES theres jenkins making the big play almost taking it for 6, but he just stepped out of bounds. o well OSU with great position now.

Jenkins lined up as a safety on that pick.

Jenkins lined up as a safety on that pick.

shows off his versatility for scouts, and a nice catch by robiskie on 4th
RedRaider80
OSUs defense in general has been bad, and as i type this a wide open TE in the endzone is found for a TD. anyway Laurinaitis has 18 tackles tonight!
unumsanctum
Ok here are my ratings for the game
Dorsey A- Started slow but came on strong
M. Jenkins C You can say he had the one pick but he was out of position and it was thrown right at him. Besides that he was burnt many times, and missed a couple of tackles.
Gholston A Had constant pressure on Flynnl, sometimes through double teams.
Laurinatis B+ Made a bunch of solid tackles and plays but when he went head to head on Hester he wasn't delivering the blow.
Doucet A- Burnt Jenkins once or twice and made solid receptions, fast out of his routes.
Robiskie C+ I am not sure if he is coming out but he should give it another year. Could not break the press of the LSU corners, and dropped easy passes.
Zenon and C. Jackson A Both upgraded their draft stock IMO. They gave Beockman and OSU receivers fits all night.
Highsmith B- Besides the big hit on Beockman he didn't do much.
Steltz B- Was very good when in but the injury won't help his draft stock.

Any Opinions, anyone I forgot?

I'll admit that I was one of those East Coasters that started falling asleep early in the 4th quarter, so I'm only judging the players on 3 quarters of action.

Jonathan Zenon has really helped himself the past two games (pick 6 to win the SEC Championship game) and then the great game tonight. He's shown some very good cover skills.

Chevis Jackson, who I always liked better than Zenon, is slipping a bit. He's not playing nearly as physical (especially against the run) as I've seen him before. Although that one INT he had was beautiful. He had his guy stride for stride and was in position for the ball to fall right into his arms.

Glenn Dorsey played reasonably well. Not a great game, but he was getting constant double teams from some excellent offensive linemen. He still made some plays and took pressure off his teammates. I still think he's the #1 overall pick in April.

Early Doucet has been one of my favorite receivers all season long, despite what the (many) critics (here and elsewhere) have said. He's a playmaker. He runs very good routes, can get behind the secondary, and catches the ball. The TD catch where he broke three tackles to score was impressive.

Ali Highsmith should be doing a lot more with his physical abilities, in my opinion. He doesn't tackle very well, he struggles to get off blocks... When your defensive line is creating havoc and occupying the offensive line the way LSU's did, then the LBs have to be much more active. He led LSU in tackles last night, but I still don't think he's worthy of all the hype.

Matt Flynn really showed me something tonight from a leadership and maturity angle. It was evident in the SEC Championship game when he was helping to keep Perrilloux focused and on an even keel. He did it again tonight with his young receivers. He's just so even-keeled and I think he's going to make an excellent #2 QB in the NFL. He's never going to be a big-time starter, but he's going to be an effective #2 who can be counted on in a pinch and will become a great mentor to younger QBs as he gets on in his career.

Tyson Jackson should definitely stay in school another year. He could be a dominant DE and a top prospect, but he's not there yet.

Richard Dickson is becoming a big-play TE. He's one to watch.

I have to get Patrick Fisher in the database. He had a fantastic year and followed it up with a great game last night. He's got a big leg.

Jacob Hester is a throwback, to be sure. He hits the hole quickly, runs hard, and does everything you ask him to do. He's going to become a fan favorite on whichever NFL team drafts him.

Larry Grant played very well for the Buckeyes in the loss. He made play after play. I thought he was the star of the OSU defense last night regardless of what the stat sheet says.

Speaking of the stat sheet... Laurinaitis had 18 tackles (12 solos?)!?! It sure didn't feel like it. He was abused in the passing game.

I was generally unimpressed with Malcolm Jenkins. Sure, he had the one INT, but it was thrown right to him when the receiver broke his route inside instead of outside. He got beat on the TD by LaFell when he couldn't stick with him on the slant.

I thought Ciron Black did a very good job of keeping Vernon Gholston under control. He was almost a non-factor in the game.

Beanie Wells is a truly special back. He's got good size to run inside and the speed to turn the corner. I was very impressed with his work against a great LSU defense.

Good thoughts. I just don't see what's not to like about Zenon or Highsmith. They've both been studs every time they have played.

Love Jenkins, that play was in the way back of the endzone, and LaFell ain't bad either.

Dickson could be like an Owen Daniels type, really nice hands.

I finally saw some promise in Doucet.

Flynn shows up big in big games.

Wells has got to be a top 5 pick next year.

Ohio State sucks. They've proven for two years in a row y there should be a playoff system implemented into college football.

I've seen a ton of LSU football the past few years and Zenon never looked as good as Jackson. And early this year he fell off completely and looked downright bad in a few games. He was getting beaten repeatedly by WRs that shouldn't have been able to beat him. But, like I said, he's recovered and played his best football late in the season and that's what everyone will remember.

He flat out got beat on that play. The two outsider receivers cut under him, but he wasn't picked. He was just too slow to react to the slant. It was a nice route, but nothing exceptional. I can't give him a pass for that play. The fact that it was in the back of the endzone makes it worse because he had the endline as another defender.

...and he has some YAC ability too.

Actually Steltz's injury simplified LSU's coverages and made them more athletic in the safety corps, and his replacement made big plays. wink.gif

Agreed. I noticed that too. I've never been a fan of Steltz.
