Full Version: Possible USC sanctions?

I'm worried, as are all USC fans, what will become of this Reggie Bush situation. Bush stupidly took money from outside sources, such as his agent, while still in college, which is against the NCAA rules. His Heismann will likely be taken away. But what I'm more worried about is if USC will face a more severe punishment, such asnot being able to play in bowl games for the next 5 years, or losing scholarships. The NCAAF is very strict, so it'll likely be harsh. It'll all depend on if USC knew anything about what was going on, and whether or not the NCAAF believes them or not. What do u guys think?

Lol, yeah, it would.

I really would not care if Bush lost his Heisman.... If they penalize Usc severly enough we might see Pete Carroll leave.

Yeah, exactly. I could care less if Bush loses his Heismann, even though he's one of my favorite players and Vince Young would get it, and I dislike Young. (For obvious reasons) But this is y Carroll is even thinking of going to Atlanta. He doesn't wanna run a program who loses a bunch of scholarships or can't play in bowl games, and he doesn't wanna tarnish his reputation.

All I can say is you are incredible Packers Pawnage! 109 posts and counting in a day! Incredible! That's a record as far as I know. Maybe Brent may have close a time or two.

People are kinda getting to over active about this thing due mostly to the trojan haters in the media. The most that they could do unless there is proof that USC had a hand in it is take away the wins from the 2005 season the national championship as well as the Heisman are not sanctioned by the NCAA so lets not jump the hysteria gun. it is very hard to put a major school on probation. miami and auburn both had extremely dirty programs with multiple violations. SC has never been a disciplinary problem school, Alumni excluded....cough OJ cough cough . so i really don't see this going much farther than a couple of articles on the net there is not even a major investigation underway.

Well, USC couldn't do anything for OJ. Plus he never did anything bad while at USC. No, I think they can take away scholarships and possibly bowl games. All they need is to prove that at least one person involved with the coaching staff knew even a sliver about what was going on, which is very possible.

I think USC should be more worried about Carroll leaving. I know USC has the tradition and the resources to always be a football power in the Pac-10, but I really do think if he leaves teams like Cal, UCLA, and ASU will finally catch up to USC. I also think Washington is on its way back up in the Pac-10.

I agree with you. The advantages USC has are it's history and ability to recruit the LA inner city. Throw in the job Carroll has done and look what you have. A national powerhouse football team. The LA Coliseum is a dump, so that's not an advantage.
UCLA doesn't even bother to look at the inner city. They like the kids from the suburbs and fringes. Maybe that'll change now that Slick Rick is in charge.

Actually, UCLA recruits the inner city harder and more effectively than USC. They absolutely own USC at Crenshaw and Dorsey high schools. This year they have Rahim Moore, the top safety in the country, from Dorsey. They also have Dye from Corona, Jones from Compton, and Knox/Carter from Birmingham(Van Nuys). Granted these are all soft verbals with the coaching change. USC is great because they can recruit nationally, and they also own Orange Country/SD County.

yeah i totally agree lot of people think the talk comes out of LA city but Southern Section and and Sand Diego put ut more talent by far. LA City may have more natural talent but those other schools have more money which equals better facilities and better coaches. If pete does leave which i don't think he will then you have Sark stepping up into a position i think he proved he wants by turning down the raiders last year so it won't be like SC would fall off.

See, but this might be the cause of Carroll leaving. There's no other reason for him to do so.
