Here are some notes from the game itself. Players who really helped themselves include several D-linemen: USC's Ellis, Notre Dame's Laws, Arkansas's Harrison, A&M's Bryant. RB's who looked good: USC's Washington (2nd half), Tulane's Forte, Ga Tech's Choice and even last minute addition, Bernard of Oregon State. The biggest winners of all were Tennessee State CB/FS Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee QB Erik Ainge, and Vandy's LOT Chris Williams.

Sedrick Ellis jumped to #4 in our Top 100 from 13. He did it by basically being unblockable at various stages of the gam, and also all week in practice. He may be the quickest 300+-pound d-linemen in the nation.

Trevor Laws pretty much mirrored Ellis. He showed that his size is not an impediment against the very best college seniors. Best motor of any d-lineman in the draft.

Marcus Harrison has always been a "potential" guy, but he played with emotion and intensity in this game, and probably improved a round to the fourth.

Texas A&M's Red Bryant ran hot and cold during his career at Texas A&M, but today it was all hot. He could not have picked a better time to show what he is truly capable of. The question will always be "can he maintain" that intensity. Biggest DT coming out at 6'5", 329.

USC's Chauncey Washington ran with authority when the game was on the line. Also made up for an early drop late in the 4th quarter. Not his fault the North gave up the ball late.

Tulane's Matt Forte has always had the skills but rarely got the chance to showcase them against top flight competition. He did today, and really made the best of it. He might have helped himself more than anyone outside of DR-C, because he had the most to prove of all the backs. Really knocked people back. Had one sideline run where he slipped Zbikowski, lowered his head on the next two guys and helped set the South up in scoring territory for the last second heroics.

Choice and Bernard showed they both can play with the big boys despite being slightly on the smallish side. Choice, in particular, showed great quickness and moves in the hole.

Domnique Rodgers-Cromartie earned millions this week. He was a bubble guy for first-day consideration coming into the week of practice because of questions about his slight frame and open field tackling ability. He put on the best weak of practice by a DB in recent memory...knocking everything away, and did the same in the game, with 2 PDs and a pick. He also lit up a guy in the first half on an impressive TFL, missed NO tackles, and more importantly showed both a willingness to come and strike and also the ability to tackle with good form. He is now a mid-to-late first rounder in our book. Could be the best pure cover corner in the draft despite coming out of the OVC.

Erik Ainge has always had ability, and may still be considered a mid-round guy because he does run hot & cold from game to game. This was a great time to be on the stage with the South driving for the winning TD. He did nothing spectacular, but managed the situation coolly. Even though he misfired on first, second and third-down and goal, he did noth throw a dumb, pickable ball and set up the reverse run by Florida's Andre Caldwell that won the ballgame. He is still a mid-round guy, but he will be remembered for that drive, and probably picked up 20 slot or so, and leapfrogged at least one QB.

Vandy's Chris Williams protected the blind side all day, and was as solid in the game as he was all week in practice. He is now a late first rounder.

Interesting story about Chris Williams. One of the knocks on Williams is that he's a bit of a finesse player and not the nasty physical type that teams prefer on the line. Anyway, on his flight to Mobile, he's sitting next to Matt Bitonti of DraftDaddy.com. Bitonti mentions to Williams that James Marten improved his stock at the SB last year by showing some fire and actually getting in a few fights. He told Williams that he didn't recommend getting into the habit of picking fights, but said that it wouldn't hurt if he showed a little more aggressiveness. I heard stories about Williams giving guys a little extra during the sessions--pushing their helmets in the dirt and some extra shoves and all. Seems like the advice paid off.

Having Mike Singletary fall in love with you, and leading the team in tackles gets 1 star?

Woodyard helped himself he looked a great deal like fellow WLB/SS tweener Cato June, Wesley Woodyard. Most likely he's an "in the box" SS in the NFL, quick, smart, a hitter and always around the ball, others who helped themselves:

QB John David Booty. I still don't understand why he's not ranked higher among the QBs a winner, though he lacks any 1 elite measurable I thought he was the North squad's best QB he is smart, coachable and instinctive, I think he improved his overall stock in this game.

LB Dan Connor his nose for the ball is top shelf and he hits though not a freakish athlete like Patrick Willis he may be as good as Dan Morgan though not as stright line fast.

DT Sedrick Ellis is a load this guy is as a DT he’d upgrade any line he is not a true plugger, but if you can over that he is almost complete, also well-conditioned he was still really bringing it at the end of the game, a fact I'm sure was not lost on scouts.

WR Lavelle Hawkins: a player, and he showed it leaping ability, tough and knows how to make room could be as good as USC's Smith.

DE Lawrence Jackson. Terrific compliment to Ellis on the USC defense not quick twitch enough to move to OLB in a 3-4 defense but has the burst and moves I can see him playing a long time in the NFL.

DT Trevor Laws. Outstanding motor Ellis, didn't seem to wear down at the end of the game. I really underestimated this prospects drive and quickness.

CB DeJuan Tribble. Seemingly a bit "undersized" for an NFL CB, but the guy just makes plays. Has only average closing speed but instincts and nose for the ball compensates.

RB Chauncey Washington: was projected to be sn undrafted player, but I think he could help some teams good sized, okay speed, fine receiver, solid blocker.

QB Erik Ainge. I liked what he did in the 2nd half, he was highly rated as a prep struggled, now he's maturing after being reunited with but he's got that ability to make plays. Played in the rugged SEC, so I think he just might be more NFL-ready than some think.

WR Donnie Avery: Hands, routes and excellent speed not very tough but perfect slot player.

DT Red Bryant. Big, bad dude needs better technique he could be a force in the NFL. Moves well for such a big guy but he must get better leverage.

WR Andre Caldwell: nice plays, including the game winner, good size/speed, very NFL ready, second-level blocker, pretty elusive is like a faster Hines Ward.

RB Tashard Choice. Good power runner, capable of running inside, good receiver and blocker like Addai but not as fast.

TE Brad Cottam is a huge TE, never healthy but if he could stay healthy he could really create some nice mismatches like a faster Remersma.

WR Harry Douglas: he caught Nolan's eye quick, good hands, a playmaker, had a nice run to get South deep into red zone at the end of the game, reminds me of Cliff Branch.

RB Matt Forte- A bigger back and catches very well out of the backfield, tough and quicker than you might think reminds me of Mike Anderson.

- DT Marcus Harrison. Another big, tough guy from the SEC. Harrison could in a pich be a 5 technique DE in a 3-4 defense, but lacks true explosiveness.

- FB Jacob Hester. A clutch, smart tough football player, a coach's dream who will do anything you ask of him.

Peyton Hillis. Big H-Back/FB/RB power runner with hands decent hands, good moves for a big guyand so versatile.

DE Kendall Langford. Langford made the key 4th down stop to give the South the ball for their game-winning drive. Has room to fill out some more another potential 5 technique NFL not as explosive or polished as Carriker, likely dropped weight to show he could stay as a DE in a 4-3.

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. One of the stars of the game he is similar to his cousin, Pro Bowler Antonio Cromartie though not as strong. A ball hawk with big play skills and closing speed. I thought he was a late 1st rounder before and now it's been confirmed.

DE Jeremy Thompson, must work on locating the ball and using his hands, 4-3 DE who may project to OLB on 3-4 defense teams runs well and has quickness.
