Here's a story on her:http://www.thedailyreel.com/spotlight/sports/archive/2007/03/30/66-britney-griner/talkback/1176743732/

Baylor landed an oral commitment from a 6-8 center with an 81-inch wingspan who wears size 18 shoes.

And she can dunk like you won't believe.

Brittney Griner said she's played organized basketball for only two years at Aldine Nimitz. The junior-to-be has already impressed so many college coaches with her eye-popping ability that her Houston home is flooded with recruiting letters.

Griner attended Baylor's women's basketball camp over the weekend and knew she wanted to become a Lady Bear. She can't sign a letter of intent until November 2008. Until then, oral commitments are non-binding.

Griner said that won't be a problem, though.

"Absolutely. I'm staying with Baylor," Griner said. "Nobody can change my mind. I haven't heard anything from any other coach."

Baylor coaches cannot comment on recruits, according to NCAA rules. Griner said she chose Baylor over Tennessee because she wants her family to attend as many games as possible.

"It was a lot of things," Griner said. "It was close to home. It's a really good program. Coach [Kim] Mulkey is a real intense coach and very well prepared. It's just the environment I want to be in."

When Griner arrives at Baylor for the 2009-2010 season, her father expects her to be at least 6-10 or 6-11. That would easily make Griner one of the biggest players in the Big 12 and women's basketball.

Ray Griner, Brittney's father, said she's already had MRIs done on both knees just to make sure everything is fine. Doctors have told Brittney that she is growing into her body, Ray Griner said.

Griner averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks per game last season for Nimitz. On Jan. 9, she dominated Houston Memorial. Griner had 32 points, 16 rebounds and a whopping 13 blocks.

Brittney Griner works out at Baylor's summer camp. She has until Nov. 2008 to sign. But that's not what has Houston-area girls basketball fans buzzing. Griner can dunk in a variety of ways, as a highlight clip on YouTube will attest. The simple title: "High School Girl Dunker."

"She started off dunking with these boys over here," said Ray Griner, a former Marine who has spent the last 34 years in law enforcement.

"The girls can't hold her or stop her, so she went off and played with boys. And that's where she learned how to dunk. The first time she dunked, she fell flat on her butt. But she kept doing it. She can do it with one hand, two hands and dunk it backwards."

And where does a high school sophomore get size 17 shoes?

"I order all my shoes off the Internet," Griner said.

The best mens college team could do so easily but i dont think high school. they arent as mature as the girls are and most of the plays are just isolation for the teams best player. they probably couldnt even beat candace parker and tennessee

I don't think so because even the HS Boys team has guys who are 6-10+ and would dominate the inside.

yeah but girls don't play like that. they run and shoot. you take a team with taurasi bird hammon douglas pondexter running the floor fast and shooting threes they are going to beat any HS team and some colleges

Savage the problem there is 1) they aren't going to outrun the men. 2) The men will have a 4-5 inch advantage at every position. 3) The run and shoot would have problems because of the size missmatch and the men would be tought to stop on offense because a 6-3 girl can't guard a 6-11 man.

are you serious? ever heard of lisa leslie? shes 7 foot and could probably stop alot of the centers in college except beasley and maybe d.j. white. candace parker is like 6 6 and thats the same size as a lot of SF's in college. They would feed it to leslie down low and they would double team and she'd kick it out to say Diana Taurasi or Sue Bird who would nail the three. and then the slashing Parker would just dominate the boys in college or High School easily.

Packfan are you serious, any decent college team would dominate the WNBA team...Leslie is 6-5 not 7-0 and Parker is 6-4, my Gators would dominate them, Mareese Speight would be unstoppable and Calathes would hit the 3 over any 6-0 girl guarding him. Parker dominates the girls because she is big for a Womens player but would not be able to slash through and lay it up against a 6-10 to 7-0 Center.

are you serious? name one good 7 footer on the gators? Jai Lucas is like 5 10 and he would get shut down therefore no penetration to kick out to Calathes for the open three. sorry buddy you are wrong bit time!

Speights is 6-10 which is bigger then anyone in the wnba by about 3 or 4 inches and Jai Lucas is 6-0 and faster then probably all the women, they could easily dominate.

Does it matter? He would still be on a 5-5 or 5-6 Women.

Seen her play. played against her is she is a her. voice is stronger than any males has all features of male dominance, the body build, steroids maybe. maybe a man, eh

Are any of you serious? Its woman's basketball!!! who cares?

But my vote is it would depend on the year. When Lebron was a senior in high school his team was all around good and he would have put up 50 on the best girls college team and the boys would have won.

But there have been other years where a Uconn or Tenn team full of junior and senior girls could beat the best boys high school team in the country.
