Victor Hobson:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6389The Patriots have signed former NY Jet, Victor Hobson. This is the best news since the resigning of Randy Moss. The Pats have done a wonderful job of lowering the urgency level for a first-day LB with this move, and I couldn't be happier!
As a result of this signing, the defense has been strengthened enough that I think they may be in a position to go BPA with the #7 pick. IMO, that player could very well be Darren McFadden. All the criticism has come in terms of DMC not being thought to have the lower body to be a feature back, but for the Pats, he would not have to be. He could be an absolutely deadly change-of-pace back and 3rd down threat. The Pats would be nuts not to take him if he were there, and if they could get a steal to move down a few slots because somebody else really wants him even more than they do, they have the ability to do that and really clean house in thsi deep draft.
If they stay pat, and draft McFadden, here is another version of my 7-round mock that could really be an exciting change-of-pace to my previously posted Patriots 7-round mocks.
Round one- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Round two- Tyvon Branch, CB-KR, Connecticut
Round three- Darrell Robertson, DT, Arkansas
Round three- Mario Urrutia, WR, Louisville
Round four- Shawn Murphy, OG, Utah State
Round five- Bruce Davis, OLB, UCLA
Round six- Geoff Schwartz, ROT, Oregon
Round seven- Dennis Keyes, FS, UCLA
