ramsdraft1029
1st round
Chris Long DE: The smartest move the rams can make here at 2. Long will step in at Right end opposite Little, this take pressure of little and makes the pass rush of the rams very good. Grade A

2nd round
Donnie Avery WR: The surprise pick of the draft turned out to be one of the top Wide outs on many teams draft board based on his speed and playmaking ability. Since the rams wr core is weak this season, avery will play slot. Is a prodject. Grade B-

3rd
John Greco OG: A guy who needs to develop and find his true role, he can go inside but they need him to be a 3rd tackle in the future. He should be the 3rd or 4th tackle and a backup guard. C+

4th
Justin King CB: One of the better late picks by the rams should be another prodject who can develop to be a future starter or nickel. Should be the 5th corner on the team this year behind Hill, Brown, Bartell, and Wade. Grade B+

Keenan Burton WR: Another wideout pick who can step in and make plays. He will be the 4th or 5th wideout who can develop to start later. Grade B-

5th
Roy Schuening OG: Will be a future starter at guard. Was a steal in the 5th. Was the best pick the rams made in the 2nd day. Grade A-

7th
Chris Chamberlain LB: Had good numbers but should only be a ST contributer. Grade c-

David Vobora LB: Although he was the last pick in the draft, rotoworld says that he can step in and compete for the SLB job with Quiton Culberson. Grade B-

Overall Grade: B
Rams made some solid picks, but some picks will need a year or two to make a difference, if we were winning we could do that, but we are not. We needed some people who can make plays now.

Needs not addressed:
Backup SS
SLB
Future backup QB
WR with some size

Ill say it now, Michael Oher in 09

Here is my review:
1st Round:
Totally Agreed on Long: A
2nd Round:
Avery was a reach we should have traded down: C-
3rd Round:
Greco is a versatile player who can play OG or RT so I'd say: C+ because Collins was still there.
4th Round:
Totally agreed on King: B+
5th Round:
Love the Schuenning pick, absolute mauler and Steven loves him: A+
7th Round:
Chamberlain may play SS but is still a ST and why take him over Horton: C-
7th Round:
Vobora is a throwback guy who is a search and destroy player: B+
Total: C+
Next year I believe the Rams pick: Andre Smith OT Alabama after going 6-10 or 7-9.

I dont care which OT they get next season, i just thought that Oher would be the best one next season. I still see the rams as contenders. Baring injury the rams have a solid roster. All we lost was bruce and wilkins. We got Brown and drafted some young guys to boost us. Last year was a year that USA today said t he rams would be in the Super bowl. Now with hill and carriker developed we can do some damage in a weak division and a someone favorable schedule.

Honestly I think Andre Smith is a more dominant LT then Oher, he is bigger and just as good of an athlete with a bad mean streak and is a dominating run blocker with good pass blocking skills(potential to be great) and good agility!! I think Burton and Avery should step in and be very good. Also we have a strong DL:
DE: Little
DT: Glover/Ryan
DT: Carriker
DE: Long
Mr. Knowitall
Also the Rams added 12 Undrafted Free Agents, they were:
Yvenson Bernard RB Oregon State
Vince Hall LB Va Tech(stud could be better then Culberson)
Vernon Bryant DE/DT Hampton
Matt Caddell WR Alabama(excellent player)
Josh Hyman WR Va Tech
Rodney Hardeway DE La-Lafayette
Doug Jones TE Cincinatti
Marc Magro LB West Virginia
Brandon McAnderson RB/FB Kansas
Justin McKinney CB Kansas State
Stephen Sene OT Liberty
Josh Thompson DT Auburn(could be very good)
Also they are looking to add a QB.

I think we could of used a QB to take over for Berlin. I like taking a shot at a kid from a big conference school who didnt shine on most draftboards. Like tom brady and marc bulger. Sam Keller is a good example. I also like the guy from cinnci who wont shut up about going for a 6th year of college football

Yeah I really like Ben Mauk too, Keller is a good option although I think the best options left are Brady Leaf(the guy has everything you want in a QB but experience but is not an ASS like Ryan), Tyler Donovan, Ben Mauk, Brandon Cox(he is a solid QB but is small) and Omar Haughabook(the kid is an athlete with a very strong arm)!

KIA I believe Andre Smith will be a top 3 Pick next year so if you don't pick in the top 3 again I doubt you land him!

Most teams have Oher ahead of him, I think the Rams will be picking anywhere from #5-#13 mattering on injuries.

Oher likely cost himself some dollars by not coming out this year. If you think this year was strong at OT, next year may be equal too or even better when all is said and done. And, as a group, they may have a lot more athletic ability than this year's solid crop.

Yeah I totallly agree there, you have: Oher, Andre Smith, Sam Young, Loadholt, Unger, Ciron Black and Alex Boone as all possible first rounders.

While it was interesting to read your thoughts on the 2008 Draft, I can't say that I'm a fan of rating players before they've even played one down in the NFL. Let's just hope that some of the questions raised will be answered satisfactorily: Greco, in particular, could be asked to step up at tackle if Pace gets injured again or Barron continues to frustrate.

As for 2009, why is everyone so sure that we'll go for an OT in the first round? Okay, Pace isn't getting any younger but we need to address the safety and LB positions, too. Furthermore, a long-term QB project might be sought. Given that there's plenty of depth in the 2009 draft at tackle, as has already been pointed out in this thread, I think that we may wait until the second round to draft an OT and address one of the other weaknesses first.
ramsdraft1029
You make a good point on drafting a safty or a line backer in the 1st round but if their is anything i learned from watching this years draft is that OT's go fast, so get them when you can, i bet the falcons were exspecting chelios or baker with their second pick
