Hey everyone... I've already got a pretty good start on the Position Ranks for 2009, 2010, and 2011, but I need your help to get the initial list completed.

What I'm looking for is players who would be considered "athletes" for draft purposes. These are players who are primarily return specialists or are players without a true NFL position. For example, Devin Hester would have been an athlete. Even though he played CB at the U, he was drafted because of his return skills, not his CB skills. Another example is a guy like former Penn State QB Michael Robinson. He was drafted by the Niners, not as a QB, but as a RB/FB. Same thing for a guy like Brad Smith of the Jets. Matt Slater, S, UCLA, was just drafted by the Pats, but he's really undraftable based only on his defensive skills. His worth comes in his special teams prowess. (n.b., Jeremy Maclin, WR/KR/PR, Missouri is an amazing athlete and return specialist, but I wouldn't put him in the "athlete" category because he's also an excellent WR and will garner most of the interest from the NFL for his ability to contribute at that position.)

Pat White, QB, West Virginia is another player who will probably not be projected as an NFL QB, but will absolutely garner interest from teams because of his athletic ability.

Please post players (Seniors, Juniors, and Sophs only, please) that you feel would fit this criteria.

well next year armando allen for nd will be a sophomore and he is very fast but too small(5-9 190 lbs) to play rb in the nfl but he is good at returning kicks as he did as a freshman last year. I remember going to the games and only getting excited when the ball was kicked off to Notre Dame, as he provided the biggest plays for the team.

Also, Demetrius Jones, the former Quater Back from ND. He plays at Cincy now and is very athletic but a horrible qb prospect ... I am not sure but I think he will be a Junior.

Steal one or two from the PRs and KRs on the DII and DIII AA teams, if you want Jeff. Wayne McKnight of W. Texas A&M is a legit KR for sure.
Mr. Knowitall
Brandon James KR/PR Florida, Preston Parker(recently arrested for drugs) can play WR/RB/KR/PR, and Joe McKnight(sophmore).

I think Derrick Williams, will be more of an athlete than WR or RB. I don't see him with a true position.
Tyrell Sutton, RB, Northwestern- He may be a better fit at ATH than RB, but he's pretty darn good at RB.

Those are just some Big 10 guys I can think of, Ill try to think of more.

Michel Desormeaux is a tough as nails QB who runs the wing T style O or as the call it now days spread run attack at Louisiana Lafayette. He seems like a good enough ATH to me, but IDK where you'd put him. Safety maybe?

That's not true at all, he has been a QB since Pop Warner.

How about Armanti Edwards? Is he a legit QB prospect, or is he going to have to go the route of Arnaz Battle, Antwaan Randle El, Ronald Curry, Brad Smith, Carlisle Holliday, Drew Pearson, Brian Mitchell, etc.?

Interesting question, and I don't have an answer other than to say it would be a travesty if he wasn't tried first at QB. The guy will sell tix. He's a faster Flutie.

edwards and white are both very slight in weight and really don't have the frames to put on more weight like mike robinson or woody danzler. USC has garrett green then there is rocky hinds i don't know where he'll end up and you might as well throw perilloux in there. texas has a backup that is speedy and won't play qb in the league. also i gotta throw tebow in as an athlete. i mean the guy hasn't shown he can make all the throws. he'll have a rb this year so maybe he'll prove me wrong. also harvin is sort of a tweener too to be truthful. and super early but put terrell pryor in there for 2012
