There's nothing like Summer School to break up the monotony of the offseason. After all, you can only play so much golf.

I think this stretch of organized team activities as it's called in some places was by far the most eventful since John Fox and his staff arrived in 2002. There was a lot to get excited about over the three-week session, but here are some of the highlights that may indeed signal that the Cats are back.

Muhsin Muhammad, Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith are reunited and it feels so good. I haven't seen such harmony since the "New Edition" reunion tour with Johnny Gill. I wonder if all three guys can fit in the front seat of the "General Lee"?
General manager Marty Hurney and head coach John Fox may be close to creating Carolina's Version of the "Hogs," the moniker for the Washington Redskins offensive line during their run of Super Bowls in the 80's. Ryan Kalil is perfectly cast as center Jeff Bostic. The second-year player is one of the most technically sound young players around. Jeff Otah not only blocks out the sun, but he has incredibly nimble feet.
I know they are in shorts and helmets but the team looked sharp and enthusiastic from start to finish every day. Defensive line coach Sal Sunseri said it best, "If you make plays out here in practice, you'll make them in the game."
Speaking of making plays, wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett is starting to look like the player who dominated the Pac-10 while at the University of Southern California. He's so big and graceful that he makes everything look easy. Right now, he is saying all the right things and, obviously, he is focused on becoming someone the team can count on.
John Fox can't stop coaching even when he is off the field. At a recent team golf outing, he did his best to help quarterback Brett Basanez straighten out a nasty slice. It was hard to judge if Fox's lessons had any immediate results because Basanez continued to hit these shots that looked more like a boomerang than a Titleist. Basanez like his teammates will focus more on getting ready for training camp than reducing their handicaps over the next few weeks.
