A week after almost upsetting Ohio State, the Badgers simply could not get up for this game, as the Nittany Lions absolutely crushed them. Penn State started early and never looked back, absolutely dominating the Badgers in every regard. The Nittany Lions even got into the fun on special teams where WR Derrick Williams returned a 2nd quarter punt 63 yards for the 17-0 lead. Wisconsin scored their lone touchdown 4 minutes before halftime on a 6 yard scamper by QB Allan Evridge. In the 2nd half, Penn State continued their domination despite taking out many starters and new QB Dustin Sherer replaced the struggling Evridge. Honestly, before this game, I severely doubted Penn State, but after seeing them utterly and totally dominating my team at home, I will never fall into that trap again.

Penn State PP's:

Butler, Deon 5-9, 167, 3 WR 2009- Finished with 3 receptions for a team leading 70 yards and a 3rd quarter touchdown. Extremely quick and shifty. Will make an excellent slot receiver and special teams player in the NFL: B+

Devlin, Pat QB 2011- Got into the action late in the game and was 2-5 with 27 yards. Could develop into a good QB after Clark leaves: incomplete

Evans, Maurice 6-2, 264, 48 DE 2010- Finished with 6 tackles(2 solos) and one QB hit. Great first step and surprisingly stout against the run. If he can add a few pounds and develop a go to pass rushing move, he could be a very nice dlineman prospect next year: B

Lawlor, Dan 6-1, 244, 33 FB 2009- Played most of the game at fullback, but came out on various formations. Is great at blocking but looks to me to lack much athleticism. Could be a poor man's Peyton Hillis(current Denver Bronco fullback): B-

Lee, Sean LB 6-2, 232, 45 2009- DNP

Ohrnberger, Rich 6-2, 291, 64 OG 2009- Completely blanked the Wisconsin dtackles, which aren't spectacular, but a dominating performance nonetheless. Did a great jump beating the lineman to the point of attack and also did not give up on the play when Clark began to scramble: A

Sales, Tyrell 6-1.5, 233, 46 LB 2009- Finished with 5 tackles(2 solos). Looked really good in coverage, and was lined up on Beckum for some portion of the game. Fell for the play action on one occasion, but fixed the next time and stayed home. Smart player: B

Scirrotto, Anthony 6-0, 197, 7 S 2009- Tied for a team leading 8 tackles(3 solos). Quick reads and much better in coverage this week than last week. A high effort player who looks to be one of the vocal leaders of the defense: A

Shipley, AQ 6-1, 293, 57 C 2009- Ditto for Shipley as what I said for Ohrnberger. Shipley should be among the top center prospect come April. He is great is pass protection and is solid in run blocking. Could be a little better as putting the lineman away however, and did make 2 or three missed assignments: B

Szczerba, Andrew TE 2011- DNP

Wallace, A.J. 6-1, 188, 1 CB 2010- Started the game but was replaced early by a backup. Not sure if he was hurt or if he was taken out because of his play(hard to follow from the stands): incomplete

Williams, Derrick 6-0, 194, 2 WR 2009- I'm starting to like this guy more and more as I watch him. Finished with 4 receptions for 26 yards, but made his mark on special teams where his electrifying 63 yard touchdown return in the 2nd quarter basically put the Badgers down for the count. Needs to work on his route running, tends to cut them off early: B+

Wisniewski, Stefan OG- Started at right guard. Like the other Lion offensive lineman, did a great job of dominating the trenches. Did a nice job of picking up a blitz, and gets low on the block which voids well for bigger faster opponents in the NFL: A-

Daryl Clark(QB) is absolutely incredible. Scrambled on a 3rd and 21 play for seemingly ever and found a receiver for a 28 yard gain. Not the biggest guy, but he can really deliver the ball and is great at throwing on the run. I think he has the intangibles to stay at QB, but only time will tell.

Jordan Norwood(WR, #24) returned this week from an injury and finished with 3 receptions for 59 yards. Great at finding the soft spot in the defense when Clark was scrambling.

Wisconsin PP's:

Beckum, Travis 6-4, 219, 9 TE 2009- Was the leading receiver again(o what a surprise) with 5 receptions for 79 yards. Boy he really is something, runs great routes and simply outruns the linebacker. Great hands, even with the ball radically all over the place by a weak throwing QB. Unfortunately Wisconsin has no one to throw him the ball: A

Bscherer, Jake OT 2010- DNP

Carimi, Gabe OT 2011- A lot of people really love Carimi, but I don't always see why. He does have a bunch of potential, and great size, but right now he's just not getting it done. Pass protection was ok, but his run blocking was really out of wack, as the Wisconsin running game never really got off the ground: C

Casillas, Jonathan 6-2, 226, 2 LB 2009- Casillas is one of the few Badgers who actually showed up to play defense. Finished with a team leading 9 tackles(4 solos), 1 QBH, and 1.5 TFL. Solid tackler who has great fundamentals. Not gonna be a top round pick, because is by no means a workout warrior, but I can easily see him starting in the NFL: A-

Hill, P.J. 5-10, 236, 39 HB 2010- Had another pretty poor outing with only 58 yards on 15 carries. Is now almost equally splitting carries with redshirt freshman John Clay and may never again be that go to horse for the Badgers. I still love his footwork, but he has absolutely no explosion and his power is not as good as it should be for his size: C

Kemp, Andy 6-6, 315, 76 OG 2009- Probably had the best day of the Badger lineman. Not perfect by any means, but it seemed like when they ran to his side, there was a little bit more running room: B

Pressley, Chris FB 2009- Had one carry for 3 yards, has been mostly replaced by Rentmeester.

Shaughnessy, Matt 6-6, 253, 92 DE 2009- If only Shaughnessy were bigger...he has great long arms and displays some nice quickness, but this was one of those games where he just got physically manhandled. His stat line wasn't bad: 5 solo tackles with 1 TFL and 1 QBH, but there opportunities were there for sooo much more. He really needs to add some weight if he wants to play in the NFL, if not it would be interesting to see him as a hybrid LB/DE in a 3-4 defense: B-

Urbik, Kraig 6-6, 332, 63 OG 2009- Looked really slow in this game. When they ran to the right side, there was simply more white jerseys and neither Clay nor Hill were able to do much. Pass blocking he was solid, but definitely not perfect: C

VandenHeuvel, Eric OT 2009- see Urbik

Dustin Sherer replaced Evridge midway through the 3rd quarter and led the Badgers down the field before throwing an interception. His arm strength is way better than Edvridge's but it remains to be seen if he'll have more success or not.

Penn State returns home to face Michigan and now has its best record since 1999, and the reeling Badgers go on the road to face Iowa.

Hmmm...interesting thought here. Did you get a good look at his movement skills in space?

He's pretty good in space, never really seen him in coverage though.

His best attribute is his incredibly long arms and big paws which translates well to a hybrid LB/DE. He does have significantly more athleticism than let's say Jason Babin who was a first round pick of Houston a few years ago as a hybrid.

I have always liked Williams and at almost 6 feet and close to 200 he has good size and speed, above average hands and I attribute some of his route running idiosyncrasies to read he made where he and Clark did not synch up. Williams is a real talent, I am not sure is there are more than 3 or 4 WR prospects as good are better in this draft. Clark has been compared to Robinson but he's more like a slimmer Rohan Davey. Is Wisniewski related to Steve Wisniewski? I really think Sales has a future what position and system do you think fits him best?

Other than Beckum, Casillias, Hill and Shaughnessy do any other Badgers have a shot at the next level.
